P4 used their imagination well and developed incredible characters for their writing.

P6 Pupils have been making use of their research skills to compile a biography of their Author of the Week.

In music some children were doing a different kind of reading— they were reading music! They used their Boomwhackers to play a melody as a whole class!

As a staff team we have identified through self-

evaluation, what our next steps as a school are. Further

details and copies of our School Improvement Plan will soon be available

and will be shared at the Parent Council AGM on Wednesday the 7th of

October. As always, we value working with you in partnership to provide the

best possible experiences for your children.

This session we aim to provide a range of opportunities for you to share and

contribute to the learning experiences your children have in school. Over the

course of the session we will we also actively seek your feedback and

suggestions as to how we can continue to improve and provide learning

opportunities that are of the highest quality – every day, every lesson.

Homework:

From the September weekend

all classes will have homework

issued.

Assemblies We are in the process of developing our assembly calendar. Once we have finalised all the dates we will send the dates home so you can plan which dates you would like to join us on.

There is lots of research which shows that children who read for pleasure and enjoyment achieve better in all areas of school life. This is why we have started the new session with our ‘Reading for Enjoyment’ focus. Lots has been going on: many classes have visited the Edinburgh Book Festival, being inspired by authors

like Catherine Rayner, Nicola Davies and

David Almond, we have been ‘dropping everything and reading’, reading with a buddy class and listening to stories read by parents and staff. All of the classes have been finding out about authors, both new and familiar and we have also been designing and creating reading displays for the main corridor. We hope that you will come to school on Thursday 17th September for reading

Campie’s Back to School ‘Reading for Enjoyment’
