Welcome to the new session and
the first term of 2015/16.
I am delighted to have joined the
team at Campie and it has been a
wonderful start to a very exciting
year.
I am thoroughly enjoying meeting
the children - spending time in the
playground, the dining room and
in classes getting to know
everyone. I look forward to
meeting all of you as we progress
through the term and to a
successful and rewarding session
for all.

Campie PS: A great place to learn!
September 2015
P1 Painting of Kipper
A new session . . . . . . a new term!
‘What did you do in school today?’
P1b warned everyone to be on the lookout for the Storybook Wolves!
Children in Primary 3 are excited to learn all about the rainforest, the animals that live there and where rainforests can be found on our planet.
P7 played the Evolution Game to launch their first topic.
A group of children formed a band in the nursery. There was fantastic music from maracas, triangles, xylophones and finger cymbals. Children assembled seating for the audience, sang along to the tunes and added to the show with some great dancing!
Meet the Staff
You will already have received a flyer inviting you to join us on the 10th of September from 6.30pm. We would encourage you to bring your child to this session. I’m sure they will be eager to share with you their classroom and introduce their teacher to you!
Our new Primary 1 pupils are now enjoying full days at school. They have settled in really well and it’s great to see so many happy, smiling faces eager to come to school every morning.
Thank you to everyone who has given
their feedback on our transition
programme. It is our aim to make the
move from Nursery to Primary 1 as
smooth as possible for you and your
children and your responses help us
to plan and make changes year on
year.
Welcome to P1

P4 used their imagination well and developed incredible characters for their writing.
P6 Pupils have been making use of their research skills to compile a biography of their Author of the Week.
In music some children were doing a different kind of reading— they were reading music! They used their Boomwhackers to play a melody as a whole class!
As a staff team we have identified through self-
evaluation, what our next steps as a school are. Further
details and copies of our School Improvement Plan will soon be available
and will be shared at the Parent Council AGM on Wednesday the 7th of
October. As always, we value working with you in partnership to provide the
best possible experiences for your children.
This session we aim to provide a range of opportunities for you to share and
contribute to the learning experiences your children have in school. Over the
course of the session we will we also actively seek your feedback and
suggestions as to how we can continue to improve and provide learning
opportunities that are of the highest quality – every day, every lesson.

Homework:
From the September weekend
all classes will have homework
issued.
Assemblies We are in the process of developing our assembly calendar. Once we have finalised all the dates we will send the dates home so you can plan which dates you would like to join us on.
There is lots of research which shows that children who read for pleasure and enjoyment achieve better in all areas of school life. This is why we have started the new session with our ‘Reading for Enjoyment’ focus. Lots has been going on: many classes have visited the Edinburgh Book Festival, being inspired by authors
like Catherine Rayner, Nicola Davies and
David Almond, we have been ‘dropping everything and reading’, reading with a buddy class and listening to stories read by parents and staff. All of the classes have been finding out about authors, both new and familiar and we have also been designing and creating reading displays for the main corridor. We hope that you will come to school on Thursday 17th September for reading
