UPCOMING EVENTS!
Issue 1 | October | 2015
Happy fall everyone! The leaves have off icially started their transformation and to celebrate the new season and school year, all while spreading awareness and our mission as advocates and partners, we have had some fun activit ies going on this month. We sold pumpkins and caramel apples on campus which were a hit, we sold out! All proceeds of course will be going to our partner, Jambi Huasi. As we have started a new school year, we have also expanded to our staff . Our annual fall staff retreat was a blast, thank you to everyone who came out for it! Sharing GlobeMed with our student body is always a goal. We partnered with Loyola's chapter of Delta Sigma Phi for a cinnamon roll fundraiser called Buns on the Run. Why not use a sweet treat to get the conversation going about heath equity, social justice, and partnership? Also, it was a great opportunity to expand our horizons by partnering with Greek life and establishing a bond between two student organizations.

GROW2015
The GROW interns visited our partner, Jambi Huasi, in Otavalo, Ecuador for five weeks this past summer. Their time on the ground allowed them to gain perspective on the goals of our partner and how we can help them move forward within our partnership. Data, photos, memories and stories- tangible and intangible relics, were all brought back to share.
"Being chosen to go on GROW is be-ing given the opportunity to meet these incredible people that are a part of our partnership and at the end of f ive weeks being able to call them
family. GROW is definitely a life changing experience where you not only get to know your partner better and create wonderful memories with them, but you are also able to ref lect on your own values and really hum-ble yourself ."
-Kimberly Salazar
"Being in the f iled living, eating and laughing with people so dif ferent from myself shif ted something in my core. Suddenly, what everything you do is a litt le more about them and a lot less about you."
-Victoria Inojosa
"Removing yourself from your com-fort zone is the best way to see the world in front of you with fresh eyes, an open heart and an open mind. I did not think that in f ive short weeks I would gain a new perspective in so many ways. I left with a sense of be-longing in a place far and dif ferent from where I call home and in a com-munity I found to be more similar than dif ferent in the way they live and love."
