Bulletin Issue 1 July 2019 About the May Road construction site The May Road construction site is one of the largest for the Central Interceptor project and will have some level of activity for five and a half years. The site will be established from 12 August when we will create access roads to the site and manage stormwater. We will construct two deep shafts on the site which will ultimately collect the wastewater from the local sewer pipes and transfer it to the Central Interceptor. Other activities later in the programme include support for creation of the main tunnel toward Western Springs. This includes handling materials removed from tunnelling such as dirt and rock, and managing tunnel segments before they are installed. Site location The site will be accessed via May and Roma Roads. The site boundary is shown in the map below. About the May Road construction siteThe May Road construction site is one of the largest for the Central Interceptor project and will have some level of activity for five and a half years.

Site locationThe site will be accessed via May and Roma Roads. The site boundary is shown in the map below.

Working with you We understand that large projects such as the Central Interceptor can be disruptive as work on site can be noisy and busy at times. We aim to be a good neighbour while we are working in your area and will work to minimise disruption, where possible. We will keep you informed with what’s happening with regular newsletters and will be out in your community during the works to engage face-to-face such as the upcoming ‘Meet the Contractor’ community event.

How will construction affect you?

• General work hours will be between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 6pm on Saturday.

• Traffic management will be in place for the safety of motorists, pedestrians and workers. Our trucks will be operating between 7am and 6pm during the week and between 8am and 6pm on Saturday; however we will limit truck movements between the hours of 7:30–9:00am and 3:00–4:30pm.

• Noise levels and vibration will be managed in accordance with Council requirements. Noise barriers/fences will be used during works to minimise noise. Some activities will also be located in sheds to reduce noise.

• There will be some parking restrictions on Roma Road at times during construction. We will notify surrounding residents in advance of any parking restrictions.

Proposed work programmeOver the next few months, the first activities will be to set up the site and prepare the area. Construction activities will start picking up later this year when we start construction of the shafts.
