“We are called to love and serve our community”
issue #003
Peace be with You! Each morning our day at HFA begins with everyone sharing the sign of peace with each other. As we enter the month of November we take the time to remember all the people who have served our country to give us the opportunity and privilege of living in Peace. We will be observing Remembrance Day with a service on November 10th at 10:00 a.m. in the CTK/SJC gym. Staff and students are asked to dress formal to show their respect. There will be NO SCHOOL on November 11th.
Report cards will be sent home next week, Monday, November 10th and Parent- Teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, November 13th. Please check inside the newsletter for instructions on how to book an interview. Please take this opportunity to meet with your children’s teachers to discuss their progress. While at the school take a peek at our Fall Book Fair which will be running from November 12-19th in our Library!
God Bless!Lorraine Spence & Mike Fleck

Reading Tip of the Month: Rare is the child who doesn’t love music. He or she may have al-ready found the liner notes in the CDs, but encour-age them to read along as they listen to songs. Also, your child can search for lyrics online and sometimes learn about the songwriter’s stories behind the songs.

Division NewsCHRIST THE REDEEMER CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools (CTR Catholic) is proud to celebrate Catholic Education Sunday with our parishes across the district. CTR Catholic schools serve more than 10,000 students in the communities of Okotoks, High River, Canmore, Strathmore, Brooks, Drumheller, Clearwater Academy (Calgary) and Oyen. Our 17 schools span southern Alberta and educate students from k-12 in traditional, outreach, virtual, alternative and home schooling environments. As the third largest Catholic district in the province of Alberta, CTR Catholic seeks to provide excellent and authentic Catholic education. We recognize the gift we have received through publicly-funded Catholic schools and are always attentive to ensuring that our Catholic schools put Christ at the center of all we do and who we are. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your support. May God continue to bless Catholic education across our province.
Together on the
Message from the Bishop Message from the SuperintendentCatholic Education is a community experience. The Holy Spirit is always with us. Catholic education is an integral part of the mission of the Church. Evangelization is at the core of the mission of the Catholic school. The infusion of gospel values is filtered through all the practices of the school. Catholic schools continue the mission of the Church in bringing the Good News to all people.
--Bishop Frederick Henry
On this occasion of Catholic Education Sunday, I am writing to those in the pews about those not in the pews. Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools (CTR Catholic) has an evangelical mission to invite our students and their families to full communion with the Catholic church. We do our best to present the joyful message of the Good News of Christ every day. We are working with children, so our message is simple. We have some Good News and that news is the love of Jesus Christ. We also begin in a simple way. We present them with joyful witnesses, our staff, and we invite them to share in the reason our staff feel this joy. In these moments of evangelization, students are drawn first to an individual, then to a school community, and then a Parish community. The key word in CTR Catholic is “invitation”. All are welcome to share in the Good News! Please pray for CTR Catholic as we continue to strive to ensure every member of our school community of faith is a member of the Parish community of faith.
--Scott Morrison
CATHOLIC EDUCATIONSUNDAY
In Catholic education we are committed to keeping the hearts
of our children awake to the fact that we are immersed in the
mystery of God.
Catholic education teaches love.
