KALAGADI CELEBRATES MOTHER’S DAY!The event started off well with the ladies singing, ululating and dancing.

We started the event with prayer and Abigail welcomed everyone present and gave a speech on motherhood.

One of the residents, Ms Lebogang Mokgothu, also gave a speech on being a mother. She also reminded the motherless and the childless that they also have a reason to celebrate on this day, as every child and mother out there is also theirs.

Abigail conducted the draw which was also a highlight of the day as no one expected anything.

The event was wrapped up by a vote of thanks from one of the mothers Ms Trudy Maluleka. She thanked IFS for the effort of making them feel at home, more especially for them who were so far from their homes. She also thanked the organisers of the event for making them feel so special despite on this special day as grandmothers, mothers, single mother and young mothers.

Mothers were served a buffet and entertained with music to wrap up the day.

It was a great day indeed.

What is tuberculosis?

Causes, symptoms, the prevention and the most important point outlined to them was that tuberculosis is treatable.

With that information the workers are able to prevent the disease and are also able to spread (share) the information with the community.

90 Ladies took part. Lucille from LRD did the lucky draw. Each mother (in fact every female present) received a Happy Mother’s Day card and a free apple crumble dessert. Johanna did the lucky draw and Lucille was one of the winners. She even jumped in behind the serving counter and handed all the ladies a happy mother’s day card with the lucky draw ticket. Our Namibia Independence Day event was a great success! It created some curiosity amongst the clients (who could not stop calling to know what we were planning), so our meal numbers were much higher that day compared to a normal day. We invited everyone to sign on the posters, which caused great excitement. This, combined with the staff enjoying their T-shirts, created a very pleasant ambience in the whole canteen. Feedback was very positive and they loved the food!

We have found that both our staff and clients are very enthusiastic about upcoming events.
