Zimbabwe: Past, Present and Future“

An exhibit of faculty artwork from the Technikon Pretoria and the Port

Elizabeth Technikon in South Africa

• Gallery 114 of the Kresge Art Center on campus until April 28th. The exhibit showcases a wide range of images from two outstanding fine art programs in South Africa. An exchange exhibit of artwork by MSU Art faculty members will be delivered to both South African institutions for hanging this summer.

The Course

• Background from different social science perspectives: Sociology, Political Science, Geography and Anthropology

• An understanding of current events in Africa (structural adjustment, development v economic growth), democracies, wars and refugees, the role of the North (including the US in events in Africa

• A recognition of what Africa has to offer in all these areas.• A preview of what might happen here (development,

democracy, militarism)• And much much more

Notes and Preparation for Final

• The Study Guide contains the topics covered in the class and is the document from which the questions have been drawn.

• Study guide often lists points – may want to form study groups to review study guide.

• Two questions will be from Ramphele• No questions from Davidson – That was

part of a written assignment.
