The Selection Committee for Incentive & Cash Award was taken up under theChairmanship of Sri I.Srinivas, IAS Principal Secretary to Govt. Sports & Youth

Principal Secretary to Govt. Sports & Y.S. Department & Chairman of theCornmlttee welcomed all the Members Present. Sri G.R. Parida, the ConcernedBranch officer & O.S.D explained the background & the purpose of the meeting &placed required documents/papers along with application particulars of the sports

persons for perusal & information of the members. In his briefing, Sri Parida statedthat in order to clear up the back log cases of incentive & Cash awards for the year2007-08 to 2011-12, applications were invited through paper advertisement aswell as recommendations were invited from the concerned State Associations. Inresponse, as many as 375 applications were received which have been scrutinised -,by a Core Committee headed by the Asst. Director Sports & O.S.D, PYKKAout ofwhich short listed eligible cases for 108 persons has been prepared as per thescheme with due consideration of approved 37 Sports disciplines of StateGovernment vis-a vis Sports events covered under Government of India Scheme.The rest 267 applications could not be considered as these are not coming underthe purview of scheme/ guidelines due to following reasons:

1. Not represented / participated in the recognised Nationalj Internationalevents

2. Masters Category not considered.3. School Game Federation of India /AII India Inter University/ National

Participation in age group Competition not consideredThis apart, five applications were received after due date. The Committee

deliberated on the merit of the applications and unanimously agreed to include theapplications of Ms. Padmini Rout & Debasis Das (Chess) for the select list. The \application of Miss. Renubala Mahanta was not considered due to her doping \9..-,controversies and the application of Miss. Sabita Ram and Sri Dipak Kumar Ram, ~

While giving nod to the recommendation, Smt. Minati Mohapatra, m mb rof the Committee expressed her concern about non availability of candid t In thdiscipline of Hockey in the Select List as there is no dearth of such tal nt InSundergarh District including Rourkela Steel Plant. The committee was of view th ~,left out candidates if any, may apply in the next year to come under zone ofconsideration as per the scheme.

The Committee has gone through the particulars' of the 380 candidatesapplied for the Cash Incentive including 110 shortlisted candidates. A thread-barediscussion was held keeping in view the provision & financial norms of the Scheme.Under this backdrop, a list of 110 Sports persons were recommended by thecommittee for grant of cash incentive of Rs.1,OO,59,OOO/-against theirachievements as indicated in the list as at Annexure 'A'. The following category ofevents / Championship which do not match with the scheme have beenconsidered by the Committee at par with the events / championship approved bythe State Government as indicated below and amount recommended accordingly.
