Isra University, Hyderabad has been in partnership with Ball State University, USA for the past 3 years providing opportunities and exceptional exposure to students of Isra University. The partnership aimed to build the capacity of the Department of Management Sciences at Isra University in academia, research and business outreach. Such efforts resulted in strengthening the bond between domestic and international fields of academia.With reference to these three years of successful partnership; Mr. Brain Heath, U.S. Consulate General, Karachi visited Isra University on Wednesday, 7th October 2015. He was accompanied by Mr. J.T. Kennedy, Political Economic Officer; Mr. Brian Asmus, Information Officer; and Shawn Gray, Security Officer.All the delegates were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Asadullah Kazi, Chancellor; Dr. Abdul Ghani Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Engineering & Management Sciences; and Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Administration. Mr. Heath was very pleased with the partnership with Ball State University and hoped for this collaboration to go a long way in many more areas to enhance knowledge and development of the academia. The delegation then toured the campus accompanied by the dignitaries and faculty members of Isra University.Later, an interactive session was conducted with faculty and

students where Mr. Brain Heath said, “Studying in the United States will be a life-changing experience. We hope you will learn as much from your American counterparts as they have learnt from you.”“Study abroad programs connect Pakistani people with American people to promote dialog and find common grounds,” he added. He informed about the international program of study in the United States to maximize takeaways from such potentially life-changing experiences. The sessions are designed to help ensure that Pakistani students fully benefit from their travel and study abroad experience. Session covered areas like travel documentation, campus life, academics, and U.S. society and culture. He also discussed the cultural projects including future partnership and other strategies. Following his address the session was opened for questions.Closing the session, Prof. Dr. Asadullah Kazi and Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi presented cultural souvenirs to the delegation and also expressed their profound gratitude to the delegation. They further expressed that frequent exchanges and visits would not only be instrumental in strengthening the ties but also expose the academic partners to diverse collaborative avenues. Afterward, a vote of thanks was extended by the Chairperson of Department of Management Sciences, Dr. Qamaruddin Mahar, who thanked the delegation for their sincere concerns.

thOn 17 November 2015,Isra University brought a sequel of the trendsetter Isra Job Fair 2014 as 'Isra University Job and Trade Fair 2015', with broader mediums of recruitment and trade on a single platform.A better and greater event than before, it was an occasion comprising of more than 60 companies that enjoyed dual perks of not only getting to enrich their human resource through collecting resumes but also encountering trade opportunities, as it was bifurcated into a Job Fair section and a Trade Fair section. This Job & Trade Fair included highly reputed organizations, companies & industries from the region.The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Asif Ali Shah, Commissioner, Hyderabad. Mr. Asif Ali Shah visited the stalls and interacted with the participating company representatives and was very pleased with the keen response from the companies and the students alike. He said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” adding he said, “It not only includes text books and norms of study but hands on experience and practice of the same.” The chief guest was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Asadullah Kazi, Chancellor of Isra University; Prof. Dr. Ghulamqadir Kazi, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Engineering & Management Sciences & Chief Parton of Isra Career Development Center; and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, Pro Vice Chancellor of Administration. This Fair, organized by Isra Career Development Center, was sponsored by Ajwa Cooking Oil & Unique Motorcycle. The participating companies; namely, Nestle, ICMAP, Bank Alfalah Islamic, Sanofi, AeoPharma Pakistan, Meezan Bank, National Institute of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management, LRBT Hospital, State Life Insurance, JS Global, Soneri Bank, ORIX Leasing Pakistan Limited, FATIMID Foundation, Integrated Business System, UBL-AMEEN, Sartoon Sang Crafts-SRSO, Tripda, National Bank of Pakistan, MCB, Adamjee Life Insurance, Gexton, PTCL, Zong, Tameer Microfinance Bank, Bank AL-Baraka and Jubilee Insurance, pertained to the sectors of banking, education, engineering, medicine, textile and auto mobile. Students participated in the event with great zeal and lauded the

efforts of Isra University in providing the youth a fair field. They were excited regarding the jobs and internship programs offered and were interested in pursuing them. The Job Fair section was further divided into two corners, the Recruitment Corner and the Final Year Project Corner. In the latter corner, the final year projects of the students from the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences and Management Sciences of Isra University were demonstrated, which were acknowledged by the corporate representatives.Later in the closing ceremony certificates, shields and souvenirs were presented to the chief guest, participating organizations, companies and students.Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi expressed his vote of thanks to the participating companies and organizers for putting up an excellent show. He also shed light on the benefits of such events and encouraged the students to get most out of them.Students & visitors not only from Isra University but from different institutes were glad to be a part of the event and thanked Isra University for organizing such an important event as far as their future prospects are concerned.

Hyderabad Entrepreneurs Camp was a one week workshop organized by Isra Entrepreneurial Society (IES) at Isra University, Hyderabad that commenced from 9 November 2015. The main aim of the event was to target the youngsters of Hyderabad region to develop and nurture entrepreneurial skills within them. It included training and mentorship regarding commercialization, along with an initial funding opportunity for winners. Many teams from Hyderabad and surrounding regions participated in the camp.The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Engineering & Management Sciences. He noted the efforts of IES for creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs and highlighted the role of these opportunities in the context of practical outreach to business skills. He encouraged students to be job creators rather than job seekers. Afterwards, Dr. Qamarudin Mahar, Chairperson, Department of Management Sciences addressed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of such productive activities.Following them, Ms. Paras Zulfiqar Bhatti; Program lead,

recipient of the grant and Deputy Director of Isra Centre for Entrepreneurship congratulated the participants and formally welcomed all. She briefed on the program details and its expected outcomes. She also expressed her gratitude to the Pakistan USA Alumni Network (PUAN) and United States Education Foundation Pakistan (USEFP) for their major funding support to implement this project. She commenced the session by playing a short videodisplaying the story behind the event. Each day of the camp was assigned to different trainers who talked on different disciplines. The trainers for the workshop included Ms. Paras Zulfiqar Bhatti, Mr. Riaz Shaikh, Ms. Humaira Jabeen, Dr. Muneer Ahmadani, Dr. Abdul Subhan Kazi and Mr. Zafar Sidiqui. The sessions encompassed interactive activities and group tasks that kept the participants engaged throughout the workshop.The closing ceremony was held on 17 November 2015 during which the winners were announced. Team Cravings comprising of Ayesha Shaikh, Amna Raees, Sidra Shaikh and Aisha Khan secured first position and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000.

Isra University Economics and Finance Society (IEFS) in collaboration with JS Global Capital Limited organized a thirty-five days online stock trading competition named as 'Isra Young Traders Challenge 2015' from 21October 2015 to 25 November 2015 at Isra University. This competition was a sequel of Isra Young Traders Challenge organized in the previous year. The competition aimed at boosting an investment culture among the youth of our nation as revealed in its tag line 'Smart Youth, Smart Investment'.More than 35 teams comprising of 114 students from different institutes of Hyderabad and nearby including Isra University, HIAST, NUML, ICMAP and Sargodhian Spirit Trust Public School participated in the competition. All the teams were provided a virtual cash balance of PKR 10,000,000 to trade at Karachi Stock Exchange in real market conditions.The competition initiated with an enlightening training session conducted by Mr. Abdul Latif Memon, Branch Head, JS Global Capital Ltd., Hyderabad on 21 October 2015, who provided an in-depth knowledge of the stock market and strategies to be used in designing & maintaining a portfolio. Online trading continued from 2 November 2015 to 20 November 2015. The top 10 teams with the highest net realized percentage qualified for the grand finale.The grand finale was organized on 25 November 2015 in which the

top ten teams presented their trading strategies applied throughout the competition period to a distinguished panel of judges including Mr. Abdul Latif Memon and Dr. Arshad Haroon, CEO, MAA Investment Research and Financial Advisor Private Ltd-MIRFA.The activity concluded with monumental success and learning experience. The closing ceremony was also held on 25November2015 in which Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Engineering & Management Sciences shared his thoughts as, “Competitions like these serve as a powerful tool in uplifting the analytical, risk management, entrepreneurial and stress management skills of students by providing them practical exposure far beyond the theoretical learning in class rooms.”“Through this competition students got a chance to formulate their own portfolios which is a one of a kind experience,” he added.At the end of the ceremony, cash prizes, shields and certificates were distributed among the winning teams. The winning teams were awarded cash prizes of PKR 15,000, PKR 10,000 and PKR 5,000 for first, second and third positions respectively. Nimra Saleem Shaikh, Fizza Zafar Bhatti, Pirah Yousfani, and Rida-e-Zainab Mirjat of Team Speculators of Isra University won the competition. ArfaMemon, Sana Saeed, Sadaf Alam and Hina Memon of Team Mash of Isra University secured second position, while M. Ahmed, Abid Hussain and Hammad of Team Koba Brothers of Sargodhian Spirit Trust Public stood third.

thDevelopment (CPD) Seminar on IEEE Xplosion on 10 November 2015 at the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium, Isra University, Hyderabad. Prof. Dr. Sayed Hyder Musavi, Dean of Indus University, Karachiand Engr. Haseeb Yousfani, RF Engineer at Telenor Pakistan were key note speakers for the event. Nearly two hundred participants from different universities of the region including Isra University participated in the event.Prof. Dr. Rafiq Abro, Chairperson, Electrical Engineering Department initiated the event with his welcome address saying that his hopes are high and is glad to see the organizers' efforts and enthusiasm of participants.Prof. Dr. Sayed Hyder Musavi talked on 'Predicting & Mitigating Disaster in Pakistan through Engineering Practices'. He

accentuated the contributions of engineering in improving the monitoring and prediction techniques for disaster mitigation and how such improvements may help us in building safer future. Engr. Haseeb Yousfani elaborated RF implementations in Telenor and its application. The Electrical Engineering Department of Isra University, Hyderabad organized a Final Year Project Demo and Presentation on 23 December 2015. Students of 1110-Batch of B.E. Electrical expended great efforts that lead to an exceptional event. They were very excited with their final year projects, an implementation and reality check of what they had learned throughout their academics. Engr. Department of Surgery Unit I of Isra University, Hyderabad organized a one day CME program on 'Management of Liver Abscess' on 3 November 2015 at the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium of Isra University. The program was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Abdul Sattar Memon. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Abdul Ghani Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Isra University. This program is accredited for 2 credit hours.The program was thronged by 85 participants, including 30 GPs. It commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Dr. Rafique. This was followed by welcome address by Prof. Abdul Sattar Memon where he gave an introduction regarding the CME program. Prof. Waseem Memon talked about the introduction and epidemiology of liver abscess. This was followed by a talk on etiology and pathogenesis by Prof. Usha Isaac from the Department of Pathology of Isra University.Various clinical presentations and differential diagnosis were discussed by Dr. Teckchand Maheshwari. He also encouraged and congratulated the organizing team for organizing a well-managed CME program by involving all the relevant departments.The chief guest was decorated with Ajrak and Shield. Shields and certificates were distributed to the speakers by the chief guest. This was followed by the vote of thanks, which was presented by Dr. Jawaria Farid.

On 6th October 2015, Department of Cardiology of Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad conducted a workshop on the topic 'Chest Pain'. Dr. Javed Siyal, who is the Consultant Cardiologist at National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, Karachi facilitated the session. In this session he discussed a patient with chest pain and highlighted the differentiating points through which one can, on the basis of the patient's symptoms, recognise the chest pain of cardiac origin against the chest pain of non-cardiac origin.The session kicked started with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Feroz Memon, Professor of Cardiology & Head of Department at Isra University Hospital. He formally welcomed all the attending participants and went on to emphasize the importance of such types of educational CMEs which tend to freshen up the memory of the attendees. It was headed by Dr. Hassan Shahid, Assistant Professor and Head of Community & Preventive Dentistry.The students and doctors of Isra Dental College visited different impoverished schools of the city to diagnose the oral health problems there and in turn recommend proper oral hygiene habits.

to be given the opportunity to be part of the survey through which they learned a lot.The students were divided into 12 teams every day and were sent to different schools of Hyderabad to examine the students. Survey of 50 schools was completed in the week. Around 22,500 students were examined and given proper instructions on maintaining good oral hygiene. All expenses during the survey were sponsored by Colgate – Palmolive Ltd.The activity week ended successfully with the vote of thanks to all participants by Dr. Hassan Shahid.
