Electrocution may occur if a live conductor is unknowingly touched. Ok.

1B.

Electrocution of the co-worker may occur while working on a light fitting thinking it was dead. Ok

1C.

The client may end up touching a radiator that hasn’t been properly bonded to the main earth terminal (MET) and is currently carrying fault current. Ok

1D.

A member of the public may use the sinks in the bathroom that hadn’t been bonded to the MET which was carrying fault current. Ok

1E.

If a short circuit occurred in the system due to a live conductor touching a low potential conductor which would cause a large amount of current to flow from the step-down transformer through the entire system possibly melting the cables and breaking low voltage devices. I.e. fire alarms. Ok

2A.

Other contractors may require power for their own power tools so they can do their own project. Ok

2B.

The client won’t have any power meaning anything requiring electricity to work won’t be usable. I.e. TV recorders and house alarm. Ok

2C.

If lights in a public tunnel were being worked on the area would have to be blocked off or on-site lighting would need to be fitted. Good example.

2D.

Hospitals will need a constant power supply to make sure emergency equipment and machinery was always usable like x-ray and heart rate monitors. Ok

1) Find which circuit you require to turn off.2) Switch off the breaker.3) Lock off the breaker with a pad lock and sign with contact details.4) Put key in pocket.5) Test the Voltage Indicator Meter with the proving unit.6) Depending on which system it is you are working on do one of the following tests;

a) 1 phase system (1 Line)i) Line – CPCii) Line – Neutraliii) Neutral – CPC

b) 3 phase system (3 Line)i) Line 1 – CPCii) Line 2 – CPCiii) Line 3 – CPCiv) Line 1 – Neutralv) Line 2 – Neutralvi) Line 3 – Neutralvii) Line 1 – Line 2viii) Line 1 – Line 3ix) Line 2 – line 3x) Neutral – CPC

7) RE-test the Voltage Indicator Meter with the proving unit.8) As long as you have permission and the circuit is dead you may continue work. If the circuit is still live you need

to find the correct MCB. Ok
