Biol.6(2) • 2011 • 180-187 DOI: 10.2478/s11535-010-0109-y 1064 Received 02 July 2010; Accepted 26 October 2010; Published 17 January 2011 It has been brought to our attention that this article [1], published in Central European Journal of Biology (CEJB), partially contains experimental data originally taken from the dissertation of Dr Manoranjan Sahoo, entitled ‘Biochemical characterization of serum immunoglobulins of mrigal, Cirrhinus mrigala (Hamilton-Buchanan, 1822)’, that was carried out at the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India under the guidance of Dr Jyotirmaya Mohanty. The corresponding author, Dr Malay Choudhury submitted this article to the CEJB being fully aware of the fact that he did not hold copyright to the mentioned part of the data in the manuscript (text and ﬁgures). Also, the co-authorship of this work was ascribed by Dr Malay Choudhury to Dr K. Pani Prasad, who did not give his consent for the co-authorship and who withdraws his name from this work. The editors of CEJB consider this case an infringement of professional ethics and therefore the decision has been made to retract the article published in Central European Journal of Biology. Dr Malay Choudhury accepts full responsibility for this unfortunate situation and is sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to the reviewers, editorial and publishing staff of Central European Journal of Biology. An apology is also extended to Dr Manoranjan Sahoo, the original author of the results published in the retracted article, and to the readers of CEJB.
