This standard has been published in accordance with a decision taken by CEN/TC 214 to adopt, withoutalteration, International Standard ISO 11111-1 as a European Standard.

The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Textil und Textil- maschinen (Textiles and Textile Machinery Standards Committee), Technical Committee TEX-BG/GA 1Sicherheitsanforderungen für Textilmaschinen.

A relationship exists between DIN EN ISO 11111-1 and EU Machinery Directive 98/37/EEC, which has beenincorporated into national legislation in the form of the Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz (German

Equipment and Consumer Goods Safety Law). Presumption of conformity is deemed conferred once thisstandard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities (see also Annex ZB) .

The European Standards referred to in clause 2 and in the bibliography of the EN have been published asDIN EN Standards.

ISO 11111-1:2005 Textile machinery – Safety requirements – Part 1: Common requirements,

which was prepared by ISO/TC 72 ‘Textile machinery and machinery for dry-cleaning and industrial laundering’of the International Organization for Standardization, has been adopted by Technical Committee CEN/TC 214‘Textile machinery and machinery for dry-cleaning and industrial laundry’, the Secretariat of which is held byDIN, as a European Standard.

This European Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission andthe European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of the relevant EU Directive.

For relationship with this directive, see Annex ZB.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identicaltext or by endorsement, and conflicting national standards withdrawn, by August 2005 at the latest.

In accordance with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the follow-ing countries are bound to implement this European Standard:
