Hello there. There have been many improvements to our campus in recent weeks. The Canteen is the most obvious one, but I would encourage you all to read the PTA Update. This group of mainly ladies are making a significant contribution to the overall development of our school. We thank them for their hard work and would invite you all to become involved with the PTA. Their next meeting is on Tuesday the 2nd of May at 13:00 in the ISN Conference Room. We hope to see you there. Mr Don

Canteen Gets The Big Thumbs Up. This week saw the opening of our new school canteen. A project initiated and funded by the PTA means that our students are now buying healthy lunches and snacks from the newly built facility. Opened on Monday at noon by Jane Griffiths, it has been a real boost to our school. We offer our sincere thanks to the PTA parents, Bulaccino and many others who made it happen. The Canteen will be offering a menu of two hot meals daily and a variety of freshly prepared cold lunches. There are also almost healthy treats, fruit juice icy poles and drinks. More photos of the opening are on the ISN facebook page.

Please note that there will be no Canteen service on Friday, as most students will be at the swimming Carnival.

Congratulations to Ms Bethan who was this week selected by the International Baccalaureate to be part of worldwide team of educators that will review and rewrite the Diploma CAS programme. ISN is fortunate to have staff at the leading edge of IB development.

The PTA have been very busy recently. Here’s a summary of their recent contributions to the school.

ECH have a lovely set of gardening tools and this has planted a seed for many more activities supporting their UOI, thank you Ms Sofi, and Helen for sourcing these.

The new Sports equipment proved fruitful in a mere few weeks with medals galore for our participants, thank you Ms Sisi for organizing the High Jump Mat and Fiji Airlines (Watson Seeto), Alison and Don for arranging equipment all the way from Aussie.

We look forward to a musical performance with brand new strings and notes. Thank you Jules for organizing new instruments for the music department.

Our little ones can now sit on benches at the assembly, a very big thank you to Jone and the maintenance department for constructing these.

There are rug pieces in the year 2 classroom and we also have 2 new sewing machines for our Diploma kids’ after school activities, thank you Jules for countless runs to get this done.

Assemblies are set to be brighter and better now with our new projector screen that was delivered this week, thank you Jane for organizing, and Adam Blyth from Staging Connections for your generosity.

We've got a table full of board games to challenge the librarian and her opponents, thank you Trish and a lovely rug for kids to enjoy reading sessions at the library, thank you Katrin.

Last week we met Ms Frances and helped repair torn books, thank you Kerrie, Jules, Ms Sofi and Mr Save for joining in.

Behind the scenes we have many amazing women, Tanya is keeping it together for us with paperwork and Kerrie is on the run organizing our movements forward. Thank you Tanya and Kerrie, there is a lot of your family time and effort that goes into managing a Committee. Arun is our backbone in building and strengthening our accounts. And there are still many more projects underway. .. The Canteen project has been the collective efforts of a few who enthusiastically extended their hands out and I would like to share my heartfelt appreciation to the Canteen Committee and the Bulaccino family for their generosity. We have many projects underway; to join this dynamic team in supporting the school please come along to the next PTA meeting on Tuesday the 2nd of May at 13:00 in the ISN Conference room. See you then! Sheetal Punja PTA Chairperson.

Can You Help?

Kevin Kapadia (Yr 11) is working on a video for the service and action curriculum in MYP. His goal for this task is to collaborate with the other students to create a video on how service and action is done at our school. It will be for all new students and parents that have no idea of what the service and action curriculum in a IB school is like. The video will be created from other year level, student’s great efforts helping members of the community outside school, by taking a video of them doing their service and action activity. He would like any students who are doing service and action out of school to please contact him for recording their service and action activity for his personal project.

Second Hand Uniforms 2nd Hand Uniforms are now available, free of charge from Venice in the office. If you have uniforms to donate, please leave them with Venice.

Ms Nate is looking for an off campus location for the Yr 6 Exhibition to be held later this year. If anyone knows of a suitable, reasonably priced venue, please let her know.

Fresh Salad Greens Delana Gardens are a local organisation that are growing and delivering fresh salad greens. A number of ISN staff are using their yummy products. Their facebook page is here https://www.facebook.com/delanagardens/ It is possible to order from them and pick up from ISN on a Monday or Thursday. If you want to do this you should;

1) Place your order directly with them and tell them it’s ISN pickup. 2) Put the correct change into a sealed envelope with your name and what you have ordered and give it to

Venice in the business office. 3) Pick up after 14:30 on the delivery day.

Trainer For ISN Staff

At the start of this year ISN staff made a commitment to increasing their exercise. During term one many staff participated in an exercise programme after school. This term we are looking for someone who could come twice a week for an hour to lead a group of our staff through strengthening and fitness exercises. This would be a paid position. If you know of someone please ask them to contact the school office or Ms Kirsten.

ADULT CHOIR (ISN STAFF AND COMMUNITY) Do you like to sing? Do you have the confidence to sing with others? If so, then you are the right person/people we

are looking for. We would like to start an adult choir at ISN to share our musical talents together and to enjoy the

companionship with each other. We are looking at celebrating our 25th anniversary at ISN with an adult Choir

performance this year!

If you are interested in being part of an adult choir, please see or email Ms Aniva ([email protected]) and join

starting on Wednesdays at 3.00 – 4.00 in the music room.
