Course title: Fundamental of nursing “B’’ practice
Course Number: NURS 2305 (3 credit hours)

Pre-requisite: Anatomy and physiology, Fundamentals of nursing A
Course Description:
This course is a continuity of a previous course; Fundamentals A, and an adjacent course to
Fundamentals B. It is designed to equip the students with the basic skills and procedures of
nursing. It uses the nursing process as a framework for all procedures. The course is constructed
to prepare the students to begin functioning as a health team members. Nursing procedures are
taught in skill lab to assist the students to master the basic nursing skills required to carry out
fundamental nursing activities effectively.
Course Objectives :
At the end of this course the student will be able to :
1- Identify the role of nursing within the health care delivery system.
2- Use the nursing process as a framework to provide nursing care for clients .
3- Develop behaviors of the professional role of the nurse.
a- Accepts responsibility and accountability for classroom and clinical
preparation .
b- Demonstrate competency in performing selected nursing skills .
c- Use basic communication skills in interpersonal relationship with faculty .

Chapter 27: Perioperative care
Chapter 28: Wound care
Chapter 29: GI intubation
Chapter 30: Urinary elimination
Chapter 31: Bowel elimination
Chapter 33: Topical and inhalant medications
Chapter 34: Parenteral medications.
Chapter 35: Intravenous medications.
Chapter 16: Fluid and chemical balance
Chapter 37: Resuscitation
Teaching Methods:
1- Lectures
2- Discussion
3- Audiovisual aids.
4- Practice
Methods of Evaluation :
1. Practice at the clinical area 60%
2. Written practical exam 30%
3. Practical exam in the lab 10%
