Page 18: Islamic Studies

Topics covered

• Fundamental beliefs of islam• Tauheed and its brief introduction• Tauheed dawah of every prophet• Shirk• Effects of Tauheed on human life

Page 19: Islamic Studies

The Basics of Faith

• Tauheed- Belief in One God (Allah)• Belief in Prophethood• All the Divine Books as revealed by

God to various prophets

• Angels, • Life after Death and the Day of

Judgment

Page 20: Islamic Studies

Tauheed (Oneness of All mighty Allah)

• Tauheed is the first and main principle of Islamic faith. – It means that Allah is the Supreme, the

Creator, Sustainer and Master of the universe, the highest authority and exclusively worthy of worship.

– ‘‘There is no one to be worshiped except Allah and Muhammad PBUH is the prophet of Allah.’’

Page 21: Islamic Studies

Tauheed

• Allah is one in attributes: Every thing in this universe is mortal and transitory except Allah. Every thing is dependent on Allah for his necessities of life but Allah is independent of all.

• Allah is one in Actions: His oneness in actions means that no one can do or does the works which Allah has done or does or which Allah will do in future. For example Allah has created this entire universe, all living things on earth, rivers and mountains, but no human being or other creature can do it.

• Allah is the Sole Creator: The vast Universe with its flawless system indicates that there is one creator and one controller.

Page 22: Islamic Studies

• Literally Tauheed means • "unification" (making something one) or • "asserting (claim) oneness", and • From the Arabic verb (wahhada) which itself

means to unite, unify or consolidate.• When the term Tauheed is used in reference to Allah,

• means realizing and maintaining of Allah's unity in all of man's actions which directly or indirectly relate to Him.

• It is the belief that Allah is One, • without partner in His authority and His actions

(Ruboobeeyah), • One without resemblance in His essence and

attributes (Asmaa wa Sifaat)

Page 24: Islamic Studies

Belif in Allah means

• Belief in One-ness• Tauheed ar-Ruboobeeyah (Maintaining the unity of lordship) • Tauheed al –Asmaa was-Sifaat(Maintaining the Unity of Allah’s names and Attributes).

• Tauheed al-Ebaadah (Maintaining The Unity of Worship)

Page 25: Islamic Studies

In Arabic the word used to describe this creator-sustainer quality is Ruboobeeyah which is derived from the root "Rabb" (Lord).•This category is based on the fundamental concept that Allah alone caused all things to exist when there was nothing;•He sustains and maintains creation.

Tauheed Ar- Ruboobeeyah

Page 26: Islamic Studies

Evidence from Quran and Sunnah

The Prophet (saws) further elaborated on this concept saying, "Be aware that if the whole of mankind gathered together in order to do something to help you, they would only be able to do something for you which Allah had already written for you. Likewise, if the whole of mankind gathered together to harm you, they would only be able to do something to harm you which Allah had already written to happen to you"

Allâh is the Creator of all things and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things

Page 27: Islamic Studies

Tauheed al-Asmaa wa-Sifaat

For unity of Allah's names and attributes ..

Page 28: Islamic Studies

Tauheed al-'Ebaadah (Maintaining The Unity of Worship)

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything)

All forms of worship must be directed only to Allah because He alone deserves worship, and it is He alone who can grant benefit to man as a result of His worship

"If you asked them who created them, they would surely say, Allah (43:87)

48. Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship,

but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed

invented a tremendous sin.

RATIONAL PROOF OF ALLAH

Had there been therein (in the heavens and the earth) gods besides Allâh, then verily both would have been ruined. Glorified be Allâh, the

Lord of the Throne, (High is He) above what they attribute to Him!

Page 42: Islamic Studies

each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have tried to overcome others!

RATIONAL PROOF OF ALLAH

Page 43: Islamic Studies

Say (O Muhammad (p.b.u.h) to these polytheists,"If there had been other âliha (Gods) along with Him as they assert, then they would certainly have sought

out a way to the Lord of the Throne (seeking His Pleasures and to be near to Him).

RATIONAL PROOF OF ALLAH

Page 44: Islamic Studies

EFFECTS OF TAUHEED ON HUMAN LIFE

Page 45: Islamic Studies

•A believer in Tauheed can never be narrow in outlook. He believes in a ALLAH Who is the

Creator of the heavn. His vision is enlarged, his intellectual horizon widens, and his outlook becomes as liberal and as boundless as is the Kingdom of God.

BROADMINDEDNESS

Page 46: Islamic Studies

This belief produces in man the highest degree of self-respect and self esteem. The believer knows that Allah alone is the Possessor of all power, and that none besides Him can benefit or harm a person, or provide for his needs. He never bows his head in homage to any of Allah's creatures, nor does he stretch out his hand before anyone else..

self-respect and self esteem

Page 47: Islamic Studies

Along with self-respect this belief also generates in man a sense of modesty and humbleness. A believer never becomes proud, haughty or arrogant. Because he knows that whatever he possesses has been given to him by ALLAH.He can take away just as He can give..

Modesty and Humbleness

Page 48: Islamic Studies

This belief makes man

virtuous and upright.. This belief creates in him the consciousness that, unless he lives rightly and acts justly, he cannot succeed.

Purity of soul and behavior

Page 49: Islamic Studies

The believer never becomes despondent. He has a firm faith in ALLAH Who is Master of all the treasures of the earth and the heavens. This faith imparts to his heart extraordinary consolation, fills it with satisfaction and keeps it filled with hope.

satisfaction

Page 50: Islamic Studies

This belief produces in man a very strong degree of determination, patient perseverance and trust in ALLAH. When he makes up his mind and devotes his resources to fulfilling the Divine Commands in order to secure Allah's pleasure, he is sure that he has the support and backing of the Lord of the universe. This certainty makes him firm and strong like a mountain.

Patience and trust in ALLAH

Page 51: Islamic Studies

This declaration inspires bravery in man. There are two things which make a man cowardly: (i) fear of death and love of safety, and (ii) the idea that there is someone else besides God who can take away life. The first idea goes out of his mind because he knows that his life and his property and everything else really belong to God, and he becomes ready to sacrifice his all for His pleasure. He gets rid of the second idea because he knows that no weapon, no man or animal has the power of taking away his life; God alone has the power to do so.

Bravery

Page 52: Islamic Studies

The belief in La ilaha illallah creates an attitude of peace and contentment,. He knows that success and failure depend on God's grace; if He wills to give, no power in the world can prevent Him from so doing; and if He does not will it, no power can force Him to.

Contentment

Page 53: Islamic Studies

The most important effect of La ilaha illallah is that it makes man obey and observe Allah's Law.. We can hide from everyone, but we cannot hide anything from ALLAH; we can evade everyone, but it is impossible to evade Allah's grip.

Man obey and observe Allah's Law
