Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household, I am so grateful for the honor of serving as your Queen for the ensuing year. Thank you for your confidence in me. The love and support that has been shown to me over the past days, weeks, and months has been a blessing. I feel so fortunate to be part of a strong temple with such an active and collaborative membership. I look forward to working with each of you this year to continue to grow and strengthen our temple so that we can help the patients of Shriners Hospitals for Children even more.
Thank you to all who attended and participated in the Installation of Officers on March 25, 2017, at the Masonic Temple. It is a day I will always remember, filled with emotion and symbolism. Special thanks to the Installing Officers, Units, designated helpers, and Ladies of the Household who attended. You all did such a beautiful job and helped provide a very impressive event for our visitors. I’ve received many compliments from our guests on what a memorable experience it was. This year will be filled with meetings, fun socials, new and exciting fundraising events, and friendship. Please participate as much as your other duties will allow. A calendar is included in this newsletter. Our first Stated Session will be held Monday, April 3, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Hadi Temple, on the second floor. I will have the honor of installing the Unit Officers as well as an Officer who was unable to attend Installation. On April 11, I will be traveling to Princeton Nile Club, where I will have another great honor – installing the Princeton Nile Club Officers. If you would like to attend, please contact Pr. Royal Robbi Redman about carpooling. Our first fundraiser/social event will be Saturday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m., at Bethel UCC on N. Green River Rd. We’re having a Pancake Supper! Please invite your family, friends, and prospective members to join us. RSVP requested no later than April 23 so we have enough food for all. You may email [email protected] (preferred) or call me at 812-484-8860. Our first Ceremonial will be held Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m., on the second floor of Hadi Temple. Your attendance and support is appreciated, as the more active we show ourselves to be as a temple, the more it will inspire our new Princesses to participate as well. The 101
st Supreme Session will be held June 11-15, 2017, in Niagara Falls, NY. I hope that
many of you are planning to attend. In preparation for Supreme, we will hold a Nile 101 class on Thursday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m., at Hadi Temple to discuss the proposed legislation, Supreme Officer candidates, and general information about the Supreme Session. If you’re a voting delegate or attending Supreme for the first time this year, please attend this important meeting. If weather permits, we might sit on the patio outside the Red Fez.

Our Sickness and Distress committee is chaired by Princess Chaplain Della Kokomoor. Della has five additional committee members to assist her this year. Please contact Pr. Della, anyone on that committee, myself, or an Isis Temple officer if you know of a sickness or distress report. A full list of our 2017-2018 committees is included in this newsletter.
My theme for this year is: “All you need is faith, trust, and a little pixie dust.” My motto is a quote from Mother Teresa: “The fruit of Silence is prayer. The fruit of Prayer is faith. The fruit of Faith is love. The fruit of Love is service. The fruit of Service is peace.” My scripture is: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 I am excited to announce the establishment of a new committee this year – the Isis Temple Ambassadors. The job of our Ambassadors will be to greet members as they arrive for Stated Session and other events, introducing them to other ladies if they don’t know anyone and ensuring they find someone to sit and converse with. It can be a little intimidating for our new Princesses or Ladies of the Household who haven’t attended in a while to enter a room full of strangers and find their “place.” They may not know the password or remember protocol. Our Ambassadors can assist these ladies, making them feel comfortable, welcomed, and appreciated. I will be reaching out to several of you in the coming weeks about this new committee. If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, please let me know. Please remember that Isis Temple needs the support of every member. I hope to see many of you at Stated Session as well as our social events and fundraisers. Ladies of the Household, I am humbled and proud to be your Princess Badoura for 2017-2018 for Isis Temple. I look forward to beginning this wonderful journey with some amazing ladies and mentors. I hope everyone will be able to join us at our Stated Sessions and Nile Social events in the upcoming months, now that “spring has sprung”. Ladies, As your new Princess Tirzah, I am now on another new adventure. If you missed the Isis Temple officer installation on Saturday, you missed a beautiful installation. I would like to publicly apologize to my daughter and her husband for my failure to introduce them at the installation. I guess my nerves got me; I really do love you and hope you can forgive me. Every Monday at the temple we have “Sewing and Quilting”. I do not know how to quilt, so I have been sewing. There are things to do like pinning the quilts, ironing material. This has been a pleasure; I encourage you to join us. I have joined the Isis Temple Patrol unit. I have not marched yet, as I do not have a complete outfit. However, I have practiced with the ladies. Congratulations to our new Queen Krista Williams! Our installation was a beautiful ceremony with lots of tears, laughter and emotions. It is my honor to be installed as Pr. Royal for the ensuing year. Queen Krista has so many fun things scheduled for the year and I hope that you all attend as your time permits. I am looking forward to attending Supreme this year with Queen Krista and joining my “Shirley’s Honeybee’s” who are constantly buzzing with ideas about how to make our temples better and great fundraising ideas. The Princeton Nile Club will begin their new year on April 11 at 12:30 pm at R’z Café in Ft. Branch. Queen Krista Williams will install officers. President: Nancy Clem Vice President: Nora Miller Sec/Tres. Terri Cheesman We were saddened to lose member Martha Lou Johnson in January. Members Ruth Dunning and Elinor Falls are convalescing at homes. Cards and gifts from the Isis Temple Chaplain Sharon Harbison and her committee were delivered to each of them following the December meeting. We wish to express our sympathy to Judy Williamson who recently lost her father. Eight Stepping Stones to Happiness were presented to Supreme Queen Cathy Carol Rose during her official visit and Ceremonial from the club. A big thank you to all the Nile ladies that helped with our Membership Brunch. Also, an extra special thank you to our Nile ladies that brought potential members. We had a very nice turn out and the food was great. It must have been as there was hardly anything left. Our next Ceremonial will be in August. Please check our Isis Temple calendar, which is included. We hope to have a big class for Queen Krista. If you know of a family member or friend that is eligible to join us, please feel free to contact us anytime. Every member in our temple is on the Membership Committee. Each one of us knows a person that is eligible to
join Daughters of the Nile. Submit a proposal! We are a great group of ladies that enjoy each other’s company, friendship and fellowship together. We form bonds that last lifetimes. The circles of women around us weave invisible nets of love that carry us when we are weak, and sing with us when we are strong. End of Year Summary - Jennifer Nance Queen 2016
The theme for Isis Temple No. 41 DON for 2016-2017 was a quote: Peace is its own reward. The Motto was - I believe this even more today than I did last March: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love.” My Scripture: 1 John 4:16b “God is love, and all who live in love, live in God and God lives in them.” The 2016-2017 Officers were installed on March 12th, at 2:00 p.m. in Robert Sheets Hall at the Masonic Lodge with a reception following. It was a beautiful ceremony! My Mother, PSQ Sue Layman, was my Installing Officer as she had been for her mother in 1985. My son Chase sang and brought big tears to my eyes, and I was surrounded by the love of family and friends! My main goals this year were to build connections, to create an atmosphere in meetings that would bring us together, to continue with our social events/fundraisers to give us all more opportunities to have fun together, while raising money for our beloved children, and to focus on the lessons taught in our beautiful ritual. I hope that we created a good feeling for our Temple, that we all feel a little more connected as a result. And I hope we can continue to find ways in our temple to cherish one another and to focus on what is most important in any situation, the love we have for one another and the obligation we took when we became members of Daughters of the Nile. Social Events: Hacienda, Turoni’s, The Little Mermaid, Family Picnic at Bethel UCC, Trivia Night at Masonic Lodge in Newburgh, Christmas Party sponsored by the Patrol, Spaghetti Dinner, and Soup & Salad Night. Some acted as fundraisers as well, which gave us a nice boost. Fundraisers: 4-H Fair in July, BBQ Sale in August/Sept. Cheesey Chix Cheeseball Sale in October and January, Trivia Night (donations), Fall Card Party (tickets and boutique), Spaghetti Dinner & Soup and Salad Night (Donations). Casino Night was postponed to create a better annual event. Charitable Giving during the Christmas Party and at Unit Christmas Parties. Supreme: On June 15th, I drove to Indianapolis, IN, for the 100
th Supreme Session of the Supreme Temple. Everything
was under one roof. Cathy Carol Rose of Koran Temple was installed as Supreme Queen. The Egyptian Band was our designated unit. I was so proud to represent Isis Temple as Queen, to watch our Patrol and Egyptian Band honor our Temple with their beautiful performances was a true honor and brought tears to my eyes. Princess Pr. Tirzah, Robbi Redman and Princess Badoura, Cheryl Stader were my roommates. Cheryl and I had mini slumber parties it seemed and she saw to it that I made it to each activity on time and zipped up! We received many Supreme Appointments in 2016. Sue Layman, PSQ, who served as Chair of the Finance Committee and director on the Board of Directors of the Foundation. Nancy Markham, PQ, who served as Member of the Supreme Temple Membership and Public Relations Committee. Margaret Coomer, PQ, who served as Member of the Bylaws of Subordinate Temples Committee. Kathy Widick, PQ, who served as Supreme Temple Ambassador to the Central Area. Sharon Norvell, PQ, who served as Supreme Temple American Flag Escort Jean Rickard, PQ, who served as Supreme Temple Canadian Flag Escort. Gay Graper, PQ, who served as Supreme Temple Banner Escort. Isis Temple was honored to become inaugural members of a new Club as well. The Foundation Club consists of Temples who have donated a minimum of $10,000 to the Foundation. We were in the top five temples in donation funds. Our total donation to the Foundation was $28,141.59. Our new Supreme Pr. Badoura is Dale Obernolte from Fresno, CA. Her Supreme session will be held in Reno. NV, her colors are Red, White, and Blue. They will be the Crown Jewels. Special Stated Sessions: In September, we honored our Past Queens and 50 year members. In November, we celebrated Founders Day with our reading from the By-Laws and a History lesson from PQ Nancy Markham for Isis Temple No. 41. January was our annual Memorial Service which was very meaningful and reflective.

Membership: We had 3 Ceremonials, bringing in a total of 14 new members, we lost 13 members, and we had 2 membership brunches along with our social events where members were encouraged to bring friends. Stated Sessions/Units/Clubs: I attended 9 stated sessions, 3 Ceremonials, 23 unit meetings, and 8 Ways and Means meetings. I attended four Princeton Nile Club meetings including the White Elephant Auction and the Cookie Exchange (yum!). I attended one Quilting luncheon. Christmas: I attended three Christmas Parties, the Hadi Hospital Staff Children’s Christmas Party, and visited Shut-ins with Princess Chaplain Sharon Harbison, Princess Royal Krista Williams, PQ Judy Peak, and Princess Sandra Mock. Supreme Queen Official Visit: Supreme Queen Cathy Carol Rose visited us on November 28th. We had a lovely and delicious banquet and beautiful Ceremonial. We mourned the passing of dear members this year including a few of our beloved Past Queens. This experience, while devastating, brought forth a reminder of our love and commitment to each other. I am so thankful for the opportunity to honor the lives of these beautiful women. One that hit me and several of us especially hard was the passing of our PQ Sandy Shafer. I had the privilege of singing at her funeral service and presiding as Queen at her Memorial Service and that was difficult and yet truly special for me. I am so very thankful to have been able to honor our dear friend. I still see her smile and still hear her say, “Oh, I love you!” To all the Committee Chairman, Co-Chairman, Members who worked so hard, Unit Directors and Members, Past Queens, Ceremonial Assistants, Appointive Officers, Elected Officers, and Junior Past Queen Tina, I love you all and THANK YOU! This office doesn’t run well without a strong team! I thank you all for always saying, “Yes”, and for your love and support. I have had so many people telling me over this year how proud they are of me or how well I have done. It is humbling, especially when I know the details that I missed. I could not have done anything this year without the devotion of all of you. I wish to say a special Thank you to PSQ Sue Layman - thank you so much, Mom! I really don’t have the words to express how much I love and appreciate you! Princess Badoura-Elect Casey Wonders. You are beginning a journey that I hope fills you with the joy and fellowship and love I have experienced throughout my time as a line officer. I am certain you will thrive in whatever office you hold in Isis Temple. I look so forward to watching you progress down your path. Princess Tirzah-Elect Cheryl, I am so excited for you to take this next step! I know you will make a fabulous Princess Tirzah and that your humor and dedication will be a delight to see. I am so thankful you took this journey with me and for the opportunity to make such a good friend! Princess Royal-Elect Robbi, I am looking forward to seeing you move forward in life and within Isis Temple. You have a new year and a new start and I know you will help Queen-Elect, Krista in any way she needs throughout this year. Please know that if you ever need anything, I am here for you! And, I support you as you go on your journey. Queen-Elect Krista. I feel these past years, you and I have gotten so much closer and I am so thankful for that! You have taken such good care of me throughout this year. And have always been there whenever I have needed you. I always knew I could rely on you. If I needed something done, I knew you would do it, and do it well. You will make an outstanding Queen. I am so excited to see what you will do this year. Remember, I am always here and will be thrilled to assist you in anything you need or have questions about. Words really cannot express how thankful I am for you! Thank you all for allowing me to serve as your Queen. The love, friendship and support you have extended me throughout these four years will forever remain in my heart and soul. Here we are - another new year for the Daughters of the Nile. The installation ceremony was wonderful. Congratulations to our new Queen Krista and her 2017 officers. The Dancers and Pageantry unit is looking forward to going to Supreme Session this year. We have been working very hard on a new routine to be debuted at Supreme Session.

Congratulations to our new Queen Krista Williams! Our Patrol unit is delighted to welcome several new members. Our new officers for the year are:

Our meetings are the 2nd Monday of the month on the second floor of Hadi at 7:00 pm.
Our unit has openings for new members. If you are interested in checking us out, you may visit our meetings up to two times before you have to make a decision about joining. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm on the second floor of Hadi. We are trying to have a variety of different types of dances in our repertoire. The dances range from sign language, flags, ribbon twirling and our new surprise, which we will disclose after Supreme Session. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
