The OneFS command-line interface extends the standard UNIX command set to includecommands that enable you to manage an Isilon cluster outside of the web administrationinterface or LCD panel. You can access the command-line interface by opening a secureshell (SSH) connection to any node in the cluster.You can run isi commands to configure, monitor, and manage Isilon clusters and theindividual nodes in a cluster. Syntax diagramsThe format of each command is described in a syntax diagram.The following conventions apply for syntax diagrams:Element Description

- -[ ] Square brackets indicate an optional element.

If you omit the contents of the square bracketswhen specifying a command, the command stillruns successfully.

< > Angle brackets indicate a placeholder value.You must replace the contents of the anglebrackets with a valid value, otherwise thecommand fails.

{ } Braces indicate a group of elements. If thecontents of the braces are separated by avertical bar, the contents are mutuallyexclusive. If the contents of the braces are notseparated by a bar, the contents must bespecified together.

| Vertical bars separate mutually exclusiveelements within the braces.

... Ellipses indicate that the preceding elementcan be repeated more than once. If ellipsesfollow a brace or bracket, the contents of thebraces or brackets can be repeated more thanonce.

Each isi command is broken into three parts: command, required options, and optionaloptions. Required options are positional, meaning that you must specify them in theorder that they appear in the syntax diagram. However, you can specify a required optionin an alternative order by preceding the text displayed in angle brackets with a doubledash. For example, consider isi snapshot snapshots create.isi snapshot snapshots create [--expires ] [--alias ] [--verbose]

If the and options are prefixed with double dashes, the options can bemoved around in the command. For example, the following command is valid:isi snapshot snapshots create --verbose --path /ifs/data --alias newSnap_alias --name newSnap

Shortened versions of commands are accepted as long as the command is unambiguousand does not apply to multiple commands. For example, isi snap snap c newSnap /ifs/data is equivalent to isi snapshot snapshots create newSnap /ifs/databecause the root of each word belongs to one command exclusively. If a word belongs tomore than one command, the command fails. For example, isi sn snap c newSnap /ifs/data is not equivalent to isi snapshot snapshots create newSnap /ifs/data because the root of isi sn could belong to either isi snapshot or isi snmp.

If you begin typing a word and then press TAB, the rest of the word automatically appearsas long as the word is unambiguous and applies to only one command. For example, isisnap completes to isi snapshot because that is the only valid possibility. However,isi sn does not complete, because it is the root of both isi snapshot and isi snmp.

Universal optionsSome options are valid for all commands.

Syntaxisi [--timeout ] [--debug] [--help]

--timeout Specifies the number of seconds before the command times out.

--debugDisplays all calls to the Isilon OneFS Platform API. If a traceback occurs, displaystraceback in addition to error message.

--helpDisplays a basic description of the command and all valid options for the command.

ExamplesThe following command causes the isi sync policy list command to timeout after30 seconds:isi --timeout 30 sync policy list

The following command displays help output for isi sync policy list:isi sync policy list --help

SmartLock compliance command permissionsIf a cluster is running in SmartLock compliance mode, root access is disabled on thecluster. If root access is disabled, you can run some commands that require root accessthrough the sudo program. If a command requires root access, you can run the commandonly if the command can be run through the sudo program.Prefixing a command with sudo allows you to run commands that require root access. Forexample, if operating in compliance mode, the following command fails:isi sync policy list

However, the following command succeeds:sudo isi sync policy list

OneFS time valuesOneFS uses different values for time depending on the application.You can specify time periods, such as a month, for multiple OneFS applications. Options

Specifies the name of the new pool that you want to create, including the name of thesubnet and the name of the pool, separated by a colonfor example, subnet1:pool0.The pool name must be unique in the subnet.Specify the name by using the following format::

--ranges Specifies one or more IP address ranges for the pool. IP addresses within theseranges are assigned to the interfaces that are members of the pool.-
