Upcoming Events
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It has been a wonderful week of inquiry and creativity throughout our
school as numerous students brought in cardboard box games they
created at home and at school. The ingenuity and collaboration that
went into many of them is something to be admired. Well done to all!
Parent-Teacher-Student conferences have been changed to Novem-
ber 5th in order to accommodate our upcoming IB/CIS visit taking
place on Oct 29-31st. We apologize for the change in dates and hope
it has not caused too many difficulties.
Students will soon be taking home Raz-Kids information. Raz-Kids is
an online reading program that can help students read at home and
makes reading more enjoyable for all involved. A special workshop will
be organized in the near future to help parents become familiar with
the program.
We hope to see everyone at the Celebration of Cultures this coming
Thursday! Have a great weekend.

The Moon
Festival
These are the lions dancing with Ong Dia
Recently at school we had a moon
festival in the MPR and grade 1, 2
and 3 performed something special
to celebrate the occasion.
Grade 1 performed a song, small
dance and a mini play, the song
they used was a Vietnamese song
that was sensational!
Grade 2 sang a traditional Vietnam-
ese song and a dance that is unfor-
gettable!
Grade 3 performed the dragon
dance with Ong Dia trying to tease
the dragon, with a little music.
The Vietnamese people believe that
Ong Dia is the god of the Earth that is
a little chubby and he is very cheeky
and naughty.
Then we had an announcement from
Mr. Peterson and ended the assem-
bly.
And that was the end of our moon
festival assembly.

Clean Up Your Mess!!!
There was a boy called John Mac. He
never cleans up his rubbish and all the
cleaning ladies get very tired. Every day
one of his friends would say, ‘’Clean up
your rubbish!’’
John would say, ‘’Ok one minute…’’
But he never cleans up. One day all his
friends had an idea. They thought of trick-
ing John into cleaning up his mess but
how? They thought and thought and one
of them Joey Miller (John’s best friend)
told everybody his plan. On the next day
Joey met up with John then Joey said,
“My big brother never cleans up his mess’’
he cried ‘’and a really big monster came
and said, you better clean up your mess’’
‘’I don’t believe you, your just tricking me,’’
replied John.
That night John went to sleep he heard a
noise and woke up but it was the middle of
the night and he was still sleepy so he
went back to sleep and then he heard it
again, ‘’Who’s there?’’
John cried and then a big monster
came, ‘’Clean up your mess and if you
don’t you’ll get pay back!’’
‘’Ok’’ he got a fright but then he went
back to sleep.
At school at lunch time John ate his
lunch and said, ‘’I’m going to clean my
mess today and see if I don’t’’
‘’Wow’’ everybody sitting on John’s table
were in amazement and he continued
that and every cleaning lady was very
happy and so was John.
