A rthur Holm presented its new DynamicX2

at ISE 2015. The product line has been re-

designed with a new-ultra thin housing

and integrating new functionalities in terms of

control and signal distribution.

DynamicX2 series are silent, fast, reliable,

individually addressable and remotely

diagnosable monitors. They are HDCP compliant

and provide a safety system which stops the

mechanism in case of resistance.

INTERNATIONALLY PATENTED TILTING SYSTEMThe company says that the DynamicX2 are

the only monitors on the market which provide

automatic tilting by using only one engine; a

system which is protected by an international

patent. This means less components, higher

reliability (fi ve years warranty), less noise and no

maintenance. Its passive cover plate prevents

dirt and any kind of object from falling inside

the mechanism and the lift system has different

speed levels depending on the screen position,

having as a result a harmonic drive and eluding

abrupt movements.

NEW FUNCTIONALITIESThe new DynamicX2 adds exclusive features

in terms of control and factory service and

signal distribution. They integrate an Interactive

Setup Display, which allows individual addressing

(30 monitors can be individually controlled

through one port), and shows on the LCD screen

the command which has been received and

helps to optimize installation time and costs.

A secondary menu allows the adjustment the

speed and auto calibration of the system of the

monitor.

All monitors are HDCP compliant, assuring

high bandwidth digital content protection

compatibility. The new DynamicX2 also adds,

as an option, signal daisy chain distribution by

Cat5e/6 cable.

NEW VERSION OF THE AHnet SOFTWAREThe AHnet monitor control software facilitates the

installation, control and administration of ARTHUR

HOLM motorized products. It has been designed

to control and diagnose any installation of

ARTHUR HOLM Dynamic products. It allows

individual, group or overall control. It allows the

creation of different memories to help to setup

the arrangement of the room to respond to

different work scenes. These are stored in the

memory and can be retrieved by a single click.

The Auto check function allows test fi les to be

loaded and the program can be confi gured

to send an alarm by e-mail, reporting if a unit is

failing and the cause of the malfunction.

It permits remote checking of the screens

before an event and the receiving of feedback

for each monitor, allowing on site or remotely

located staff to get information for up to 900

screens simultaneously.

Aurora’s IPX-TC1

provides one of the

most advanced IP

streaming solutions on the

market utilizing Aurora’s

IPBaseT technology, which

synergizes various IP/AV

standards to work together

as one. Aurora says that

this is the industry’s fi rst

4K2K transceiver with zero

compression and latency.

Using a transmitter (encoder)

and receiver (decoder),

respectively, used to be the standard – until now.

The IPX-TC1 can be set up as either one,

to make installation, inventory and

troubleshooting easier.

The company says that another industry fi rst

is the option slot to add other IP capabilities,

like USB 2.0 over IP or Dante audio, for a more

complete, distributed system. Audio, video, data,

and control can be sent securely to one or many

units using off-the-shelf 10G Ethernet switches.

When the IPX-TC1 is set up to be a transmitter,

the 2 HDMI inputs become a source switch and

the HDMI output becomes a potential loop out.

When set up as a receiver, a user can select

the local HDMI inputs or an IP source. Seamless

switching of the sources further enhances the

presentation. Regardless of how the IPX-TC1

is set up, the audio can be de-embedded at

any location, break away, and/or be sent to

or received from a Dante enabled device. The

USB 2.0 option is also fl exible, working as a KVM

and/or a high-speed data transfer (480Mbps)

for memory sticks. Each IPX-TC1 USB feature can

also be set as a host or a device. To keep the

system user-friendly, a customizable OSD and

web server are available to be programmed

as required. For RJ-45 LAN devices, the 1G

Ethernet port allows full bandwidth end-to-end

over the IPX-TC1 10G fi bre port.

Choice is important. That’s why the

IPX-TC1 has an SFP+ port that can use single

or multi-mode fi bre – making the IPX-TC1 the

ultimate AV-IP product on

the market today.

Blue Jeans Primetime was launched in

December 2014 for general availability

in Q1 2015. It is a new interactive online

events service that connects thousands of

participants through large-scale broadcasting

and video collaboration. Blue Jeans says that

Primetime is the only large event platform

that gives multiple presenters the power

to engage with thousands of viewers, and

promote any of these viewers to active

participants in real time.

Blue Jeans Primetime augments the fl agship

Blue Jeans cloud-based video collaboration

service, with new streaming capabilities to

broadcast events to a worldwide audience, plus

the ability for the moderator to switch participant

roles between active participant and passive

observer, making it possible for speakers and their

audiences to interact.

Blue Jeans Primetime has been in trials since

early September with more than 20 customers,

including RedHat and Wikia.

In 2015, TEDx will be using Blue Jeans

Primetime to connect organizers around the

world. With over 3,000 yearly events spread

across 165 countries, there are TEDx organizers

in every corner of the globe. As a result they

needed a solution that would make it possible for

their global community to meet face-to-face in

large groups like never before.

Additionally, they will be integrating it into

their offi cial knowledge sharing initiatives, which

kick off in 2015. For TEDx, online video is the

perfect way for them to connect, and with Blue

Jeans Primetime’s interactivity, it is making it

possible for them to do this in large groups.

Several new and unique capabilities make

the Blue Jeans Primetime service ideally suited to

support large-scale, interactive events:

Role Switching: Attendees enter the event in

view-only mode, and can virtually raise their hand

and be “promoted” to actively engage with the

presenters, ask questions, or become part of a

panel and contribute to the conversation.

Present or View from Any Device: Presenters

and attendees can join from a full range of

video or audio devices, including room systems,

computers, and mobile devices.

Self-Service: Blue Jeans Primetime makes

large-scale events easy and intuitive, without

the need for a technician or hardware delivery.

Organizers, moderators and attendees can easily

schedule, join and view events, with the ability

to raise their hand, share video/content, and

interact with other participants.

Robust Moderator Controls and Options:

Event hosts have moderator controls that allow

them to mute participants, pin presenters,

promote attendees, and record the meetings.

The Draper Access Fit electric projection

screen is a new addition to Draper's

original "Case now, screen later" Access

concept. The Fit features a much smaller case

cross section for above-ceiling motorized screen

applications. Access Fit is ideal for small to

medium size boardroom, classroom or training

room integration, offering the same quality

components engineered into a smaller profi le to

fi t into tight spaces above the ceiling.

Meanwhile, the company has re-engineered

the Access bottom closure panel to make it

easier to attach and improve the panel’s overall

engagement with the screen housing. An

improved “T” bracket engagement allows the

panel to hinge downward for service, eliminating

the need to make extra trips up and down the

ladder carrying the closure.

Improvements to internal components also

enable Draper to offer sizes up to 488cm in total

width, without increasing the case profi le size.

Finally, new removable hoisting brackets

make it easier to use block and tackle or a winch

to lift the screen out of the shipping carton and

the fi nal into mounting location.

You can install the case during the “dirty”

phase of the construction process and keep the

screen safe until you install the projector. The

screen (motor-in-roller and attached viewing

surface) installs in seconds with preset latching

roller brackets and electrical pin connectors.

This eliminates job site damage. Screens may

be installed in cases up to 20in wider than the

standard case lengths.

An Access case can be ordered and installed

prior to fi nal selection of size, type and format. If

ordering a case in advance of the screen, the price

of the case will be deducted when the screen is

ordered. Specify case length at time of order.

Some optional controls, including LVC-IV,

may be built into the case. If you want built-

in Low Voltage Motor, Quiet Motor or control

options you must specify when ordering to assure

compatibility with your screen.

Utilizing technologically

advanced manufacturing

methods and proprietary

scientifi c formulations, TecVision

viewing surfaces meet the rigorous

demands of today’s projectors

and the environments in which

screens are and will be used.

Rather than using “mass-

production” methods in order to

minimize costs, TecVision screens

are individually produced,

individually formulated and

programmed, and manufactured

with multiple checks for quality,

consistency and uniformity from

start to fi nish.

TecVision is available in six exclusive

formulations, featuring white surfaces with gains

ranging from 1.3 to 1.9 over remarkably wide

viewing cones, and grey surfaces with excellent

performance under ambient light. TecVision

surfaces are available on several Draper electric

screen models.

TecVision represents a real advance because

it is easier than ever to “fi ne-tune” a screen to

your room. In the past, a close fi t was as good

as a screen manufacturer could get, and often

represented simply choosing the lesser of two

evils. But with Draper’s TecVision, a screen can

be tailored to meet exact specifi cations for a

certain type of room/situation. Thus, a screen

that combines the best of different surface

attributes can be formulated, allowing the

ultimate in fi ne-tuning.

All TecVision surfaces are engineered for high

contrast, precise resolution, colour accuracy and

the broadest possible viewing cone. All TecVision

surfaces offer superior quality, consistency,

uniformity and are 4K ready. They are all ISF

certifi ed, as well. Here are some specifi cs:

XH900X Grey features an extra wide viewing

cone, high contrast, and on-axis gain of 0.9.

XH900X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate ambient light is present.

MS1000X Grey has a moderate viewing

cone, superior contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.0.

MS1000X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate to high ambient light is present.

XT1300X White’s extra wide viewing cone,

typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.3 help

it perform best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is slightly

lower than desired.

XT1600X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.6.

It also performs best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is moderately

lower than desired.

XT1800X White also features an extra wide

viewing cone and typical contrast, but with

a higher on-axis gain of 1.8.

XT1800X White performs

best where ambient light

is controlled but projector

brightness is signifi cantly lower

than desired. XT1800X White is

perfectly suited for active 3D

or colour combining passive 3D

systems.

Following the introduction of

these fi rst fi ve surfaces, Draper

introduced a sixth TecVision

product, XT1000X White.

This newest surface offers a

top line option for purists who

want a 1.0 white screen, and

its very low gloss means it is

excellent for edge blending applications. XT1000X

White has an extra wide viewing cone and

typical contrast. This surface is a prime example

of TecVision’s possibilities, and shows one of the

ways the line stands head and shoulders above

other screen surfaces. It was developed for a

specifi c customer need. The customer wanted

the TecVision XT1300X White, but with a 1.0 gain

and a much lower gloss level for edge blending.

Draper’s chemists got to work and engineered

a new screen to this spec, which was then also

added to our standard TecVision offerings.

When discussing projection screen

technology, it is easy to get lost in the numbers

and descriptive terms. The proof, as they say, is

in the pudding. What do dealers, installers, and

end users think about TecVision? Here are just a

few of the initial reactions Draper has received:

“I am blown away.”

“How did you do this?”

“You obviously know what you’re doing.”

Pexip

12 AV TECHNOLOGY

Infi nity enables organizations and enterprises

to equip all of their members and employees

with video, audio, and web conferencing and

visual communications, regardless of size, existing

solutions, or device requirements.

Pexip Infi nity simply enables equipping every

member of the organization with his or her

personal Virtual Meeting Room (VMR), just like

they have a phone number and email address.

The personal VMR can be used for scheduled or

ad-hoc meetings (huddles), and is as easy to use

as visiting a web site, writing an email or dialling

a number.

Pexip Infi nity is a virtualized, distributed scalable

meeting platform. It deploys like any other

enterprise software, to any number of locations

and data centres – from a single administrator, and

from a single point. Infi nity seamlessly connects any

existing communications protocol and codec into

a single uniform conferencing experience, and is a

software MCU, gateway and transcoding engine

in one. Pexip Infi nity simply deploys on VMware or

Microsoft servers, and can be installed in an on-

premise data centre, in a private or public cloud,

or in any combination. Scaling up simply means

spinning up another Virtual Machine, and does

not involve acquiring more licenses, or potentially

hardware. Infi nity runs on industry standard servers

that every company already has.

Pexip Infi nity solves the fundamental

challenges in enterprise communications,

such as complexity of use, deployment and

management, cost of ownership and use,

interoperability between systems, devices,

software and hardware, and does so from a

simple management system that uses industry-

standard tools that are known to everyone in IT.

For VaaS and UCaaS providers, Pexip Infi nity

provides unique provisioning, management and

branding possibilities.

It is easy to provide each customer with their

own branded environments, and it is easy to

scale resources up or down as needed. For a

service provider, these unique possibilities present

simple ways of giving the customer what he

needs when he needs it – without having to plan

for and schedule capacity changes.

Pexip Infi nity’s distributed architecture is

one-of-a-kind and completely unique. Being

able to deploy conferencing nodes (virtual

machines) – each working as a local MCU and

gateway – in any number of locations, greatly

reduces network load and infrastructure

requirements. This saves network and

bandwidth costs for enterprises while omitting

any capacity challenges.

Pexip’s distributed architecture also ensures

that everybody sees the same conferencing

experience, no matter how large the conference

or where participants are based. There is no

cascading, in addition to greatly reduced system

latency, diminished bandwidth usage and

lowered network strain.

Still, one of the most important aspects of

Pexip Infi nity is its ease of use and simplistic

approach. A technology can be complex and

comprehensive, but abundance of features

does not drive adoption rates. It is important

that users feel comfortable with what is being

offered, and it is important that users like what

they are presented. Pexip Infi nity’s reach and

customer success in large and small companies

proves that it is the right choice for most. Allowing

people to work the way they are used to, and

continue with their existing workfl ows, rather

than trying to force a culture change, is perhaps

Infi nity’s greatest feature.

A game-changing technology for AV

signal distribution, the BlueRiver NT

enables the simultaneous extension,

switching, and compositing of real-time,

uncompressed Ultra-HD signals with zero-frame

latency over off-the-shelf (OTS) 10GbE switches.

It delivers a long awaited alternative to

HDBaseT technology, which forces equipment

manufacturers to design and manufacture

expensive “custom” matrix switches and

which also requires the installation of

a second proprietary network in a

facility. In addition, unlike HDBaseT,

the BlueRiver NT delivers an all-in-one

solution for video-wall, multi-view and

matrix switching, as opposed to just point-

to-point CatX or fi bre extension.

Using a high-bandwidth, synchronous,

packet-based architecture for pixel transmission,

the BlueRiver NT is capable of:

Extending uncompressed Ultra-HD (4K) HDMI-

video, 32 channels of audio, Gigabit Ethernet

and useful control signals over 30km of fi bre or

100m of CatX cabling;

Switching these signals through standard

10GbE switches and;

Compositing multiple video signals onto one

or more displays.

With these capabilities, AptoVision says that

the BlueRiver NT ushers in a new paradigm in

AV signal distribution systems by enabling a

single system capable of addressing multiple

applications including:

AV matrix switching application – Ability to

extend and switch any video source to any

display(s) through generic 10G switches;

Multi-view application – Ability to show a

grid composed of multiple video sources on a

single display;

Video-wall application – Ability to scale

a single video source across a wall of

multiple displays.

While there are numerous use-cases where

all three applications are required in the same

installation, never before has there been a single

technology capable of delivering on all three

application requirements in a single platform.

Several companies previously standardized

on HDBaseT technology were quick to

recognize the power, competitiveness,

and disruptive nature of this technology

and are already demonstrating

products based on this technology.

“Aurora Multimedia needed

an uncompressed IP-based AV

transmission technology with no latency as

the foundation for its new IPBaseT technology,”

said Paul Harris, CEO of Aurora Multimedia.

“Not only is AptoVision’s BlueRiver NT chipset

the only technology to meet this requirement, it

also delivers on our vision of the future in which

IP based systems will transform the AV signal

distribution market.”

Canon says that its fl agship installation

multimedia projector, the XEED

WUX6000, achieves this unique blend

of capabilities: offering advanced image

quality, connectivity, durability and energy

saving for projections in a range of environments

including offi ces, classrooms, and digital signage

projections.

Technical capabilitiesThe Canon XEED WUX6000 offers vivid, detailed

images from both computer and video-based

sources thanks to its native WUXGA resolution,

high brightness, and top quality optics. Canon’s

AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) optical

engine produces 6000 lumens brightness and

a 2000:1 contrast ratio to deliver clear images,

even in high-ambient light levels.

Canon’s revolutionary LCOS (Liquid Crystal

On Silicon) panels work in combination with its

AISYS optical system to produce true colours

with outstandingly smooth images free from the

unwanted 'lattice' and 'rainbow' effects that are

often seen with other panel technologies. The

addition of new LCOS panels also enhances the

appearance of projected images by offering

increased luminance and refl ectivity while

improving energy savings. In

addition, advanced features

such as hardware edge-

blending allow system integrators

to seamlessly blend images from

multiple projectors to create

impressive multi-displays.

Increased fl exibilityTo ensure increased fl exibility for

system integrators, the WUX6000

is compatible with fi ve different

projection lenses – short fi xed,

wide zoom, standard zoom, long

zoom and ultra-long zoom lenses – and with twin

digital DVI and HDMI inputs, it offers maximum

fl exibility for a wide variety of installations.

This makes the WUX6000 the ideal projector

for applications like video conferencing that

demand picture-by-picture imaging, which can

be achieved from either two digital sources, or

from one digital and one analogue source.

Energy saving capabilitiesThe industry is currently seeing a fresh focus

on power effi ciency and durability. Lens design

is one of the key enablers for achieving this

and thanks to the WUX6000’s enhanced

energy-saving capabilities, power consumption

is limited to just 0.076W per lumen, while

still projecting more vivid images than

ever before.

Due to its image quality, fl exibility and

energy-saving capabilities, the WUX6000 is the

ideal projector for system integrators in large

or small businesses, as well as imaging

professionals who require crisp, high-impact

projection with the ability to cater for numerous

projection requirements.

Metra Home Theater Group is debuting

a new line of 4K-ready HDMI cables to

deliver a verifi ed 18Gb/s HD signal for

higher resolutions, frame rates and colours over

HD digital interconnects.

Guaranteeing the high bandwidth support

necessary for the future of 4K content in home

theatres and beyond, Metra’s cables support

Ultra HD/4K signals at 60Hz and 48-bit Deep

Color. The technology has also been designed

and engineered to support up to 32 audio

channels and dual video streams, which enables

the delivery of multiple-viewer or multiple-source

content on the same screen.

Available in 3ft and 6ft models in the Helios

by Audio Solutions™ product line, the new HDMI

cables support an Audio Return Channel for the

convenient delivery of HD audio content. Also

included are the standard connected home

features of Ethernet signals and backwards

compatibility with legacy HDMI systems. With the

introduction of HDMI 2.0 technology, older cables

may limit the audio and video performance of

new technology and multimedia content.

“Metra Home Theater Group is bringing the

best new HDMI technology to consumers, many

of whom remain unaware that ultra-high defi nition

content these days is compressed down to 8-bit

colour at 60 Hz and 10.2 gigabytes per second

of data,” said Jessy Crabb, general manager for

Metra Home Theater Group. “People ask ‘Why

compress it? I thought I was getting the best

there was?’ The reason it is compressed is that

most cables aren't built to handle uncompressed

high-resolution content, and run-of-the-mill cables

experience additional signal loss. Our new HDMI

cables are built to handle the best and latest, so it

enables audio and video enthusiasts to be ready

for the future of content.”

Magnolia 1.50mm Curved Display

SiliconCore

At ISE 2015, SiliconCore displayed a

curved 1.5mm pixel pitch LED solution,

which delivered stunning visualisation

and an impressive close-proximity viewing

experience.

The display makes use of the award-winning

Magnolia 1.5mm scalable solution which, unlike

other LED screens, is driven by SiliconCore's

Common Cathode technology rather than the

traditional Common Anode method. Opening

up a variety of new markets to LED applications,

Common Cathode technology offers a much

more effi cient design whereby the Red, Green

and Blue diodes have separate power supplies,

thus negating the need for a resistor and

reducing the achievable pixel pitch. This also

gives the curved Magnolia display the lowest

power dissipation in the industry, resulting in

the greenest LED technology ever invented,

according to the company.

With revolutionary low power consumption

and a phenomenal 444,900 pixels per square

metre, the curved Magnolia solution is bringing

the benefi ts of its patented LED technology to the

visualisation market. Offering a tight pixel pitch

and a refresh rate of over 2,000 Hz, it is one of

the most advanced and high-quality resolution

LED displays available, delivering an incredible

viewing experience, even at close proximity.

The seamless screen boasts a 3.7° curve,

running at a full 60p, easily achieving

2,000 nits brightness with unbeatable uniformity.

Immersing visitors in crisp, clear visuals, the 6m x

1.5m (approximately) presentation wall

demonstrated the full capabilities of Common

Cathode technology at the trade exhibition.

Its ultra-wide viewing angles enable a

stunning off-axis performance without colour

shift, ensuring the screen can perform in

a wide range of environments. Being LED-

based, all these elements are in addition to it

performing excellently, even in high ambient

light, with vibrant colour reproduction. This

is complemented by high power effi ciency,

excellent uniformity and low heat generation,

enabling silent, fan-less operation.

The features of the Magnolia has made

large-scale immersive LED displays accessible to

verticals not previously penetrable for this type

of screen due to the resolution requirements

and minimal viewing distances. The specialized

circuitry of the display eliminates ghosting by

forcing the LED to discharge before the next

signal. The design of the driver chip completely

removes reverse bias so that noise from the

signal is abolished and true blacks are achieved

without background noise.

The reduced power consumption, cool

running and more effi cient design contribute to

a lifespan of over 10 years, ensuring a market-

leading lower total cost of ownership for the

curved Magnolia 1.5mm LED display.

JBL’s Control HST represents a new

concept in compact on-wall speakers.

Incorporating patent-pending HST

Hemispherical Soundfi eld Technology, this

speaker covers an extremely wide 180 degrees

(a hemisphere of coverage), reducing the

number of speakers needed to cover a space

and thus reducing overall installation and

system cost. In addition, HST vastly reduces the

primary wall refl ection that has been affl icting

on-wall speakers for years. Refl ections of most

on-wall speakers add peaks and dips in the

frequency response (at frequencies where the

refl ected sound is either in-phase or out-of-

phase with the original). Plus the frequencies

of the peaks and dips change as you move

around the room, so you can EQ them away.

Eliminating this primary wall refl ection results

in a fl atter frequency response, and very

consistent sound character from location to

location within the listening area, providing

high fi delity sound throughout the space.

The ConnexSys Video Wall Mounting System

was designed to solve common problems

faced by installers when mounting video walls

– speed of install, ease of alignment, access for

serviceability and rigidity to maintain adjustments.

The system hangs from strut channel, which allows

the ability to level an entire row once. A generous

amount of depth adjustment allows installers to set

the mount between 10 and 19cm from the wall

for recessed applications and to accommodate

imperfections in the wall. The PowerZone

adjustment zone keeps all the adjustment points

at one location on the mount for easier access.

Tilt adjustment at a single pivot point protects

the display from twisting. The RapidDraw Display

Release cord system allows for gentle, remote

release of screens from any side of the mount. This

protects the displays by not requiring an aggressive

push to pop out the mount and only releases

screens on demand. Once released, displays can

be extended 34cm for service with a kickstand

for an extra 20 degrees of bottom tilt release. The

rigid frame keeps displays where set, even after

extending for service. Can be ordered with rails for

Market research has shown that the

quality of on-site service and support

is one of the top three challenges for

digital signage projects. Up to 30% of the budget

is reserved for integration and support services,

in particular when digital signage networks are

mission critical to end-customers. Yet, providing

quality maintenance and on-site support can

be a challenge for dealers. Without professional

remote monitoring tools, these missions can be

unpredictable, risky and expensive, with labour

costs adding up quickly.

The SpinetiX brand has always been a

promise for its unique product reliability and

industry leading support. Digital signage networks

however not only involve media players but also

content, displays, network devices, environmental

factors and services. The combination of ultra-

reliable products together with an existing need

for continuous services result in very lucrative

opportunities to dealers.

With Cockpit, dealers can now effortlessly

answer to service opportunities such as

monitoring and support. The new Cockpit

service allows dealers to prevent issues – till now

unpredictable – and promptly react to incidents,

maximising the up-time of the end customer’s

digital signage network. This unique added value

service will improve the quality of maintenance

and on-site support and will keep end customers

loyal.

Dealers can now offer services and support

Video wall deployments are enjoying

record growth, yet many of the solutions

on the market today are complicated,

costly and infl exible. As demand for high-impact

video walls continues to rise, so does a need

for a digital signage product that solves these

challenges.

Userful Network Video Wall, which was on

display at ISE with Userful’s partner ViewSonic,

offers three very exciting industry fi rsts. It is the

fi rst video wall solution to deliver 4K and higher

content in real time over the network. It’s the

fi rst to support multiple, independent video

walls throughout a building from a single PC. It

is also the fi rst to enable any angle rotation and

placement of individual displays from a browser

with real-time interactivity.

Previous approaches to network video walls

have either:

1) Delivered the entire source image to all 25

displays, saturating the network and limiting

source-resolution to 1080p or lower, or

2) Required painstaking pre-splitting of the video

fi le into 25 separate fi les with playback being

time-synched over the network. This is labour-

intensive and also rules out live, real-time content

(Twitter, weather, RSS, interactivity).

Userful Network Video Wall takes a different

approach that results in unparalleled performance

and scalability. The PC or server that runs the

video wall splits, crops and rotates content in real

time. This enables a Userful video wall to deliver 4K

content over the network from a single core i7 PC

to up to 25 displays, each of which can be placed

anywhere on the video wall canvas and rotated to

any angle. It can display 4K video, 6K HTML5, static

images up to 16K.

Eliminating the need for proprietary servers

and cable extenders, a single core i7 PC

can serve one, two or even three video walls

simultaneously anywhere within the LAN. In fact,

it can support two video walls simultaneously

playing different 4K content. Each display has

an industry standard zero client device, which is

basically a network-addressable video card with

no moving parts, consuming just 3 Watts of power

and an expected 7-10 year life span. Multiple

servers can be set to failover to each other,

ensuring even a hardware failure in the video

wall server results in minimal downtime.

Individual displays can be rotated to any

angle and placed anywhere within the canvas

using a web browser, or mobile device. It’s

never been simpler to create eye-catching,

artistic video walls. It can even support a mix

of heterogeneous displays, including monitors,

projectors and cubes. Userful gives complete

creative freedom and fl exibility to create truly

stunning designs. Userful’s patent-pending

interactive setup tool enables pixel-perfect

alignment, bezel and colour correction with

drag ‘n’ drop ease. A demo version of the

confi guration web-interface is available here:

http://demo.userful.com/ucc/

In addition to playlists, HTML5 and Flash

support, the solution comes pre-integrated

with a free, cloud-based CMS (Rise Vision),

can also integrate with other CMS’s, or can

display live content via HDMI capture card or

network streaming protocols. It also supports user

interaction via external USB input devices.

AptoVision’s BlueRiver NT for AV switching,

video-wall and multi-view applications.

A true game changing technology

for AV signal distribution, the BlueRiver NT is the

world’s fi rst and only technology to enable

the simultaneous extension, switching and

compositing of real-time, uncompressed Ultra-HD

signals with zero-frame latency over off-the-shelf

(OTS) 10GbE switches. It delivers a long awaited

alternative to HDBaseT technology which

forces equipment manufacturers to design and

manufacture expensive “custom” matrix switches

and which also requires the installation of

a second proprietary network in a facility.

In addition, unlike HDBaseT, the BlueRiver NT

delivers an all-in-one solution for video-wall,

multi-view and matrix switching, as opposed to

just point-to-point CatX or fi bre extension.

Using a high-bandwidth, synchronous,

packet-based architecture for pixel transmission,

the BlueRiver NT is capable of:

Extending uncompressed Ultra-HD (4K) HDMI-

video, 32 channels of audio, Gigabit Ethernet

and useful control signals over 30-KM of fi ber or

100m of CatX cabling

Switching these signals through standard

10GbE switches, and

Compositing multiple video signals onto one

or more displays

With these capabilities, the BlueRiver NT

ushers in a new paradigm in AV signal distribution

systems by enabling a single system capable of

addressing multiple applications including:

AV matrix switching application: Ability to

extend and switch any video source to any

display(s) through generic 10G switches

Multi-view application: Ability to show a

grid composed of multiple video sources on a

single display

Video-wall application: Ability to scale a single

video source across a wall of multiple displays

While there are numerous use-cases where

all three applications are required in the same

installation, never before has there been a single

technology capable of delivering on all three

application requirements in a single platform.

Every individual who has witnessed the demo

of this technology has been blown away by

its performance, feature-set, fl exibility and

scalability. In fact, several companies previously

standardized on HDBaseT technology were

quick to recognize the power, competitiveness

and disruptive nature of this technology and

have already demonstrated products based

on this technology at ISE – within six months

of its introduction. This is what some of these

companies have to say about BlueRiver NT:

“Aurora Multimedia needed an

uncompressed IP-based AV transmission

technology with no latency as the foundation

for its new IPBaseT technology,” said Paul

Harris, CEO of Aurora Multimedia. “Not only

is AptoVision’s BlueRiver NT chipset the only

technology to meet this requirement, it also

delivers on our vision of the future in which

IP based systems will transform the AV signal

distribution market.”

“We are excited to demonstrate new

products at ISE using AptoVision’s BlueRiver

NT technology,” said Steven Barlow, President

and CEO of DVIGear, Inc. “We believe this

technology will completely transform the way

complex AV systems are designed and will

provide users with unprecedented fl exibility

and scalability.”

“At ZeeVee, our goal was to enter the

uncompressed AV signal distribution market

with a product line which embraces forward

looking technologies and architectures instead

of recycling older concepts,” said Bob Michaels,

CEO of ZeeVee. “Our partnership with AptoVision

on the incorporation of their BlueRiver NT

technology into our new platform, allows us to

deliver on this vision and to usher in a new era for

AV signal distribution.”

AptoVision demonstrated the various

applications of BlueRiver NT at its booth during

ISE 2015. Several partners exhibited branded

equipment based on the technology at

their booths.

Collaboration. A word that is widely

bandied about the AV industry these

days. But what does it actually mean?

What is ‘real’ collaboration?

Here at Kramer we take a very different view

to others on collaboration and with the VIA

Collage we have launched what we believe to

be a ‘real’ collaboration solution.

Based around a simple, free to download app,

this cloud based technology allows

multiple users to work simultaneous on

multiple documents displayed on the

main screen, for the image displayed

on the main screen to be sent back to

the participants’ devices and to display

full motion 1080p 60Hz video. Up to six

different devices can be displayed in a

single screen environment or 12 different

devices in dual screen mode, be they

IOS, Windows or Android. Third party

software such as Microsoft Offi ce Suite

can be directly loaded onto the VIA Collage

and these programs can be launched

remotely by any participant. All documents

on screen can be collaborated upon by all

participants simultaneously.

The Kramer VIA Collage provides the ability

to work in a new way with multiple users. No

more searching for a connecting cable, an end

to asking the presenter to forward the material

later via email, and forget about working on an

old fashioned whiteboard when VIA Collage

allows multiple users to annotate a document

or presentation on-screen simultaneously and

without cables.

Regardless of where the application resides or

what format it is, multiple users can work on the

same fi le in real time. This is true collaboration.

VIA Collage does far more than just display

multiple images on screen. It allows participants

to take control of the presenter’s computer,

to modify documents, to share fi les and work

together fast quicker and faster than previously

possible. No more sending documents or fi les for

review to multiple users and asking for feedback

– make the changes in real time as participants

interact and work together.

With video playing an ever more important

part in meetings, VIA Collage allows full screen

or multiple windows playback of 1080p 60Hz full

motion video. VIA Collage features an HDMI

input and both HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

This ensures maximum integration with existing

AV/VC facilities and the HDMI input can be

defi ned as one of the sources for display on the

main screen.

Full annotation is available on the VIA

Collage, allowing ‘dynamic whiteboarding’

with the ability to capture and share the

annotated image.

A unique feature of VIA Collage is the

Medialon Overture is enterprise-wide AV

management software that controls,

monitors, and automates thousands of

AV devices in multiple locations, integrates with IT

services and building management systems, and

delivers highly interactive user interfaces.

Overture eliminates the cost and burden of

hardware boxes by controlling all AV devices

via TCP/IP. It is ‘company wide’ centralized and

connected to Microsoft Exchange for room

booking, Microsoft Active Directory for credential

management, SNMP for logging, and Building

Management systems for environment control

and energy savings.

Overture uses standard IT technologies

both for user interfaces, allowing the use of

smartphones and tablets as user interfaces, and

for confi guration, allowing users to set up and

edit an Overture system themselves.

Overture is database-driven and relies on

confi guration for most of its functionalities,

eliminating heavy programming. User interfaces

are dynamically generated from information

in the database, user credentials and room

booking information. User interfaces are

based on context-aware templates that use

the database and user access credentials to

dynamically generate the appropriate interface

for each room.

Overture’s comprehensive help desk and

monitoring solution allow operators to remotely

assist users anywhere in the world. A map-based

interface lays out system controls and status

feedback information in a geographically

oriented design. Help desk operators can

select different fl oors, zoom around the maps

of the buildings to view statuses, see room

booking information for upcoming events,

and even control the equipment in each

room remotely.

Each help desk operator can build their

own dashboard for monitoring and comparing

status information from various data points

in the system using dynamically updating

graphing widgets such as pie charts, bar

charts, and trend charts. Operators with

different specialties need different tools;

user-customized dashboard widgets give the

power of real-time information to the people

who need it, in whatever format is useful

to them.

Overture is built to run on virtual machines in

a virtualization cluster such as VMWare vSphere,

which provides high availability, fault tolerance

and hardware redundancy.

The convergence of A/V and IT is no longer

just a talking point – it is a reality for many IT

departments. Conventional AV control solutions

are overwhelmingly hardware based, distributed,

and use proprietary programming languages. In

stark contrast, Medialon Overture is a centralized

AV management software solution that uses web

browser-based confi guration tools and common

JavaScript for automation programming. Overture

is designed by A/V veterans for the IT department.

Software as a ServiceOverture can manage AV equipment in multiple

buildings or installations and collect the real time

system information into one help desk system.

System integrators can choose to include the

help desk as part of the solution handed over to

their customers, license help desk access on an

annual basis, or sell managed help desk services,

using one licence of Overture to manage

devices in multiple client installations. Clients who

wish to own and manage their own servers and

staff their own help desks can use one Overture

User Experience server to manage up to 5,000 AV

devices in dozens of buildings.

Peerless-AV's Twin Pole Modular Series is the

most versatile and adaptable fl at panel

screen mount system on the market today,

addressing the widest range of vertical sectors

and applications. Launched in June 2014, the

Twin Pole Modular Series was showcased to a

European audience for the fi rst time at ISE 2015.

This innovative Series helps installers and integrators

to embrace the challenges and complexities of large

scale AV installations, and deliver projects that are

productive and profi table. The Series also adds

value by helping to increase end client ROI, drive

additional engagement and enable larger displays

or bigger arrays to be utilised in locations that were

previously not considered possible.

Designed to fi t around twin 50mm standard

columns, the components can be combined to

fulfi l multiple install requirements, from a single

ceiling mounted display to an unlimited fl oor-to-

ceiling video wall array.

The Series offers two confi guration designs

– a single Twin Pole Unit and a Twin Pole Video

Wall Unit. The single unit is available in ceiling,

fl oor to ceiling, fl oor to wall and free standing

mount options. The video wall unit is available

in fl oor to ceiling, fl oor to wall and free standing

mounting options. The poles can be shortened

or extended and multiple displays from 46in up

to 90in can be positioned anywhere along the

column length.

With a minimum number of SKUs, and a

user-friendly, intuitive method of selecting the

required parts, the installer experience could not

be simpler. Via the new 'Modular Confi gurator'

tool on the Peerless-AV website, installers are

guided through a series of simple stages to create

a bespoke solution for their application. They

can select a single column or video wall, choose

mounting type (landscape or portrait orientation),

pick required component options and accessories

(fi xing plates, column length etc), and then submit

their confi guration for a quote.

The Twin Pole design ensures a sturdy and

secure mounting foundation with each system

able to accommodate up to 192kg. Components

are powder coated in black with an anodised

chrome fi nish to provide a durable fi nish resistant

to rust, chips and scratches. For installer peace

of mind, all Twin Pole Modular Series products are

tested to the highest UL mounting safety standards

and include security attachment hardware to

ensure the stability and security required for use

in public areas. They also include a number of

SpeakerCraft’s AIM Series 2 is the fi rst

architectural speaker series to deliver the

performance of a 3-way design from a

2-way speaker.

With several models available in 5in, 7in

and 8in sizes, the AIM Series 2 offers

integrators a speaker for every

application that delivers a wider and

more uniform high-frequency coverage

area for increased vertical directivity

and reduced fl oor and ceiling bounce.

By utilizing SpeakerCraft’s new

adjustable pivoting Arc Tweeter Array™

360˚ arc coverage, the speakers ensure

that every seat in the house enjoys

the same volume and sound quality

while producing a minimum of 3dB

more than a single tweeter design and

reducing distortion.

The totally redesigned AIM series

leverages three new technology

enhancements to give the speaker

line improved fi delity, audio direction and sound

isolation. Acoustic Isolation Technologies™

reduce mechanical energy and the next

generation Waveplane™ design broadens the

power response over a wider listening area.

But the most visible design change is the new

Tweeter Array™ which delivers maximum sound

coverage and dispersion. In addition, the

speakers offer improved pivoting design to direct

sound, as well as upgraded materials and design

to suit a wider range of installations.

SpeakerCraft’s engineers refi ned every

element of the series’ industrial design including

back-mounted magnets that dramatically

improve aesthetics, strain reliefs to secure

speaker wire, a fail-safe attachment for added

security, a redesigned rear fl at housing that

increases stability and relocated binding posts for

easier installation. The series’ sound quality also

receives an upgrade, benefi tting from a new

symmetrical and asymmetrical 2nd-3rd order

Linkwitz-Riley crossover design.

A new transducer and motor design

using a curvilinear cone improves

high frequency response while an

updated surround design reduces

high frequency breakup. The inclusion

of non-conductive Kapton formers,

copper caps and extended poles

allows for an increased linear operating

envelope and reduced distortion.

Thanks to the increased power handling

and sensitivity the speakers exhibit

improved thermal dispersion in addition

to cleaner, louder sound.

By decoupling the speaker housing

from the surrounding materials, what

SpeakerCraft calls Acoustic Isolation

Technology™, the series provides superior

audio immersion and installation consistency.

This technology, combined with a New Wave

Plane™ design and Acoustic Vortex Eliminators™,

acoustically moves the speaker close to the front

plane, reducing sound turbulence.

Dataton WATCHOUT version 6

INSTALLATION 53

Dataton AB

Dataton showed a new version of its highly

acclaimed WATCHOUT multi-display

software at ISE 2015. New WATCHOUT

version 6 adds an unrivaled feature-set for

advanced projection mapping, multiple-source

video playback, 3D media and modeling, pre-

visualisation – all fronted by a radically revamped

user interface.

Scheduled for release in the spring, this version

offers powerful new features for show creators

including smoother workfl ow for 3D projection

and complicated mapping. Show producers will

appreciate the new 3D Projector feature which

makes it easier than ever to accurately program

and line-up complex 3D geometry projections.

In WATCHOUT 6, any number of virtual projectors

can be placed around a 3D object on screen,

then repositioned and corrected to create the

perfect projection setup. Taking the process a

step further, WATCHOUT 6 features new marker-

based calibration to match the on-screen setup

with the real-world object. WATCHOUT calculates

all the parameters automatically, aligning the

virtual 3D Projector to the exact location for total

control over the fi nal projection.

WATCHOUT 6 vastly improves workfl ow for 3D

productions. Three-dimensional models can be

dragged straight into a WATCHOUT show – version

6 reads common 3D fi le formats such as 3DS, OBJ

and Collada. In WATCHOUT, you can then texture

3D mesh areas independently with video, images

or compositions for maximum creative effect.

The combination of new features in

WATCHOUT 6 puts producers on a fast track

to outstanding projection mapping: import a

3D model of a real-world object, map it with

content, then use the new 3D Projector and

marker-based calibration features to get pixel-

accurate image mapping.

WATCHOUT 6 offers pre-visualisation, letting

you use 3D models as props to create a

realistic simulation of the entire presentation

environment. Teamed with the new 3D Projector

feature, you can get a multi-camera view of

your stage from different perspectives. Before

you arrive on-site, you'll already know how your

stage looks from different audience angles;

you'll already have made any necessary

adjustments, and you'll already have saved

valuable setup time.

For every video technician who has ever

battled with different video formats from different

clients, WATCHOUT 6 now supports high-end

uncompressed formats such as V210 and Apple

ProRes, and the popular, low-compression, high-

performance HAP codecs. This open-ended

approach is aimed at streamlining the show-

making process, removing the headaches often

associated with incoming assets. WATCHOUT 6

also plays uncompressed image sequences at

full resolution and frame-rate from a fast hard-

drive, removing the need for time-consuming

encoding of 3D or After Effects renderings.

WATCHOUT 6 has undergone a major facelift

on the outside, too. New-look WATCHOUT is easier

on your eyes in a darkened show environment,

presenting a clear and uncluttered user interface

in the best Scandinavian design tradition.

The Access Fit is a new addition to

Draper's original "Case now screen later"

Access concept. The Fit features a much

smaller case cross section for above-ceiling

motorised screen applications. Access Fit is

ideal for small to medium-sized boardroom,

TecVision Engineered Surface

Technology offers a departure

from typical projection screen

production. Utilising technologically

advanced manufacturing

methods and proprietary scientifi c

formulations, TecVision viewing

surfaces meet the rigorous

demands of today’s projectors and

the environments in which screens

are and will be used. Rather than

using “mass-production” methods

in order to minimise costs, TecVision

screens are individually produced

individually formulated and

programmed, and manufactured

with multiple checks for quality,

consistency and uniformity from start to fi nish.

TecVision is available in six exclusive

formulations, featuring white surfaces with gains

ranging from 1.3 to 1.9 over remarkably wide

viewing cones, and grey surfaces with excellent

performance under ambient light. TecVision

surfaces are available on several Draper electric

screen models.

TecVision represents a real advance because

it is easier than ever to “fi ne-tune” a screen to

your room. In the past, a close fi t was as good

as a screen manufacturer could get, and often

represented simply choosing the lesser of two

evils. But with Draper’s TecVision, a screen can

be tailored to meet exact specifi cations for a

certain type of room/situation. Thus, a screen

that combines the best of different surface

attributes can be formulated, allowing the

ultimate in fi ne-tuning.

All TecVision surfaces are engineered for high

contrast, precise resolution, colour accuracy and

the broadest possible viewing cone. All TecVision

surfaces offer superior quality, consistency,

uniformity and are 4K ready. They are all ISF

certifi ed, as well. Here are some specifi cs:

XH900X Grey features an extra wide viewing

cone, high contrast, and on-axis gain of 0.9.

XH900X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate ambient light is present.

MS1000X Grey has a moderate viewing

cone, superior contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.0.

MS1000X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate to high ambient light is present.

XT1300X White’s extra wide viewing cone,

typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.3 helps

it perform best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is slightly

lower than desired.

XT1600X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.6.

It also performs best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is moderately

lower than desired.

XT1800X White also features an extra wide

viewing cone and typical contrast,

but with a higher on-axis gain of

1.8. XT1800X White performs best

where ambient light is controlled

but projector brightness is

signifi cantly lower than desired.

XT1800X White is perfectly suited

for active 3D or colour combining

passive 3D systems.

Following the introduction of

these fi rst fi ve surfaces, Draper

introduced a sixth TecVision

product, XT1000X White. This newest

surface offers a top line option

for purists who want a 1.0 white

screen, and its very low gloss means

it is excellent for edge blending

applications. XT1000X White has an extra wide

viewing cone and typical contrast. This surface is

a prime example of TecVision’s possibilities, and

shows one of the ways the line stands head and

shoulders above other screen surfaces. It was

developed for a specifi c customer need. The

customer wanted the TecVision XT1300X White,

but with a 1.0 gain and a much lower gloss level

for edge blending. Draper’s chemists got to

work and engineered a new screen to this spec,

which was then also added to our standard

TecVision offerings.

When discussing projection screen

technology, it is easy to get lost in the numbers

and descriptive terms. The proof, as they say, is in

the pudding. What do dealers, installers, and end

users think about TecVision? Here are just a few

of the initial reactions Draper has received:

“I am blown away.”

“How did you do this?”

“You obviously know what you’re doing.”

Interactive Boarding Pass Scanner

Four Winds Interactive

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)

sees 28 million passengers annually,

who fl y on 40 airlines to more than 100

domestic and international destinations out

of 94 gates throughout 4 passenger terminals.

Having no shortage of important information

that needed to be communicated to

travellers, BOS increasingly faced visual clutter

throughout its facility, decreasing their current

communication’s effectiveness.

In 2012, BOS enlisted Four Winds Interactive

and Art of Context to design, implement and

manage an enterprise visual communications

solution. This included static and interactive

wayfi nding, static and digital advertising, live TV,

audio and visual paging, FIDS, BIDS, GIDS and

Curb Nextbus.

Based on the overwhelming success of this

fi rst installation, BOS turned to FWI to implement

an interactive boarding pass scanner in 2014

to better inform passenger decisions, ease

traveler anxiety and improve the overall

passenger experience.

This new product relies on an integration of

interactivity and wayfi nding to customise and

enhance the passenger experience. In short,

a passenger scans their boarding pass and

immediately receives information about their

fl ight, directions to their gate, dining and

shops along their path and weather at their

fi nal destination.

FWI built new technology to integrate all

of these data points into BOS’ new interactive

boarding pass scanner. They needed to ensure

correct and relevant information was pulled into

the interactive screen in real-time based only

on the passenger’s ticket. Additionally, FWI had

to make sure the passenger’s ticket could be

scanned correctly based on the standard-issue

tickets used by all 40 airlines that operate at BOS.

BOS’ new interactive boarding pass scanner

has created a fun and engaging experience in

an environment that is often stressful and tense.

With a simple scan of their ticket, passengers see

step-by-step directions on how to get to their

gate, easing the stress often found in attempting

to navigate a sprawling terminal. Not only do

passengers easily get these directions, but they

also receive supplemental information that

makes their time spent at BOS more enjoyable.

Additionally, BOS’ interactive boarding pass

scanner increases revenue at restaurants, bars

and shops as a passenger can conveniently see

what is on their route to their gate. Informing

passengers of these concessions increases

their visibility and thus, foot traffi c and actual

passenger spend at these locations.

Though the interactive boarding pass scanner

is at its beginning stages of implementation, it has

been a success for Boston Logan Airport. Early

results indicate not only an achievement of their

overall goal of a better passenger experience,

but an increase in concession revenue and an

overall enhancement of customer satisfaction

and experience at the airport.

Test Chest 3G really is the World's FASTEST

portable A+V Tester! There are NO boot

delays with our multi-function Test Chest, so ALL

modes are available immediately following

switch on. In many cases quick ‘loop’ or ‘gain

check’ tests with Test Chest can be completed

before competitive products have even fi nished

their ‘boot-up’ process. The Unit is highly portable

too, and the internal Li-Po battery can provide

well in excess of four hours of endurance.

Test Chest proves to be as quick and easy

to use as a Multimeter as it is controlled through

an intuitive menu and touchscreen, which

eliminates tedious soft-key sequences. Whether

it’s Monitoring, Measurement or Analysis, the high-

resolution LCD and stereo speakers present the

results of your investigation clearly and distinctly,

and a HigherFi headphone jack is provided for

privacy too. A neat design feature ensures that

the Test Chest’s signal generators are completely

independent of all input signal processing, so

the unit will happily work on two different video

standards and audio formats simultaneously.

Versatility with speed are the watchwords here!

Test Chest generates 10-bit precision SDI video

signals from SD up to 3G, and outputs a parallel

CVBS video too when generating SD standards.

Audio monitoring capability covers Embedded,

AES, SPDIF and Balanced Audio, while its

Generation capability includes simultaneous

parallel feeds of Embedded, AES and Balanced

stereo audio.

Audio level measurements are simultaneously

presented as both a numeric display ideal

for steady state tone, and as histograms for

Programme level checking, with either VU or PPM

ballistics and with a choice of scaling. Stereo

phase monitoring features too, and a pair of

indicators are provided for channels 1-4 of the

selected audio group.

The ‘Audio-Pod’ latches to Test Chest when

required, providing broadcast-grade interface for

balanced audio and AES XLR. It also includes a

110/75-ohm AES matching transformer with BNC.

Murraypro’s unique "Which-Wire?" feature

provides an extremely fast, and completely

automatic, identifi cation of multiple unknown

BNC sources, and is an absolute dream to use.

As soon as a ‘live’ BNC is plugged in, Test Chest

detects presence of signal and powers up,

magically identifying whether that source is SDI,

CVBS, Tri-level/Comp Sync, or AES/SPDIF Audio.

It preselects the LCD display mode too for TV

monitoring, WFM or audio histogram metering as

appropriate. Amazingly all of this, including the

initial automatic power-up sequence following

input source detection, through to the detected

standard being declared on a banner at the top

of the screen, occurs in about 1 second. Yes, it’s

that fast!

Installation and maintenance staff are always

mightily impressed with Test Chest’s unique TDR

utility. Fast radar-like pulses are launched into

suspect cables, facilitating instant determination

of cable length and circuit impedance issues.

Even quite modest impedance anomalies, such

as inputs with dubious return loss or small cable

‘Stubs’ are readily detectable on cable runs of

up to 180M, making the TDR feature especially

valuable when faultfi nding installations. Test Chest

even incorporates a utility LED torch, a feature

that has proven to be particularly valuable when

chasing cable looms in poor light!

There are NO post purchase ‘option’ shocks

with Test Chest either, since ALL the software,

charger, carrying case, and even the Audio-Pod

are supplied. With Test Chest, literally everything is

included in the price, as standard.

Panasonic has announced a major

upgrade to its fl agship large-venue

projector, with the release

of the new quad-lamp, 3-chip

DLP™ PT-DZ21K Evo Series.

The PT-DZ21K Evo is an

update to Europe’s leading

high brightness projector,

developed for the London

Olympic Games Opening

Ceremony in 2012 and used

extensively across the rental

and staging industry.

Together with a powerful new

DMD chip to enable 120Hz driving

speed, Panasonic has refi ned the Evo series’

optical engine to enhance focus performance,

resulting in improved image clarity, resolution

and contrast.

Other upgrades include a DIGITAL LINK™

single LAN cable connection, two 3G-SDI inputs

(DZ21K Evo and DS20K Evo only), and a newly

developed picture enhancement system

(Detail Clarity Processor) for accurately

reproducing images.

Panasonic has also redesigned the

lamp modulation system and extended

recommended lamp replacement from

2,000 hours to 3,000 hours. The new series is

signifi cantly more effi cient, thanks to its reusable

long-life eco fi lter and a reduction in power

consumption from 2,300W to 2,150W through the

use of lower-wattage lamps.

Furthermore, a hermetic liquid cooling system

with pressure sensor has lowered noise from 49dB

to 46dB, which represents a 50 percent drop in

perceived noise.

Hartmut Kulessa, European Product Marketing

Manager at Panasonic, said: “The projector

maintains the key features of the

original, such as 20,000 lumen

brightness, 10,000:1 contrast,

and up to WUXGA resolution.

“The PT-DZ21K has been

incredibly popular and has

set the bar for high brightness

projection. We feel we have

signifi cantly enhanced the

product, without losing any of

the appeal of the original, and

importantly we’ve maintained

the same compact body weighing

just 43kg.”

Installation fl exibility is also a highlight

with powered horizontal/vertical lens shift,

multi-screen support (comprising edge blending,

colour matching, and a multi-screen processor),

multi-unit brightness control, geometric

adjustment for projection onto curved surfaces,

and extensive connectivity.

The DZ21K Evo Series comprises the PT-DZ21K

Evo (20,000 lm, WUXGA), PT-DS20K Evo (20,000

lm, SXGA+), PT-DW17K Evo (17,000 lm, WXGA),

and PT-DZ16K Evo (16,000 lm, Full HD) and is

scheduled for release in July 2015.

Panasonic has unveiled production versions

of its pixel quadrupling 10,000 lumen

4K laser projector series at ISE 2015

in Amsterdam.

First introduced at ISE 2014, the

PT-RQ13K is the most compact

and lightweight projector of its

kind in the world. It employs quad

pixel drive technology to deliver

extremely detailed, fi lm-like, 4K

image quality.

To achieve this, the optical

axis of the projector is shifted both

horizontally and vertically at a high

frame rate of 240Hz, to create four

different pixels from a single pixel –

effectively quadrupling the pixel density

of the image. A new generation of detail clarity

processor analyses the required pixel information

for extra pixels, and optimises for fl uid, detailed,

high-contrast images.

Alongside this, Panasonic also launched

the 12,000 lumens PT-RZ12K and PT-RS11K, both

3-Chip DLP™ laser projectors.

The PT-RZ12K and PT-RS11K

projectors boast 120Hz frame replacement

technology and 12,000 lumens of brightness

at WUXGA and SXGA+ respectively.

Hartmut Kulessa, European Product Marketing

Manager at Panasonic, said: “The

RQ13K and RZ12K series eclipse the

competition with a contrast ratio

of 20,000:1 that, together with

high-resolution performance, makes

them ideal for large exhibition

venues, virtual reality theatres and

corporate applications.

“The PT-RQ13K’s cabinet is about

half the size of some competitor 4K

resolution products which, alongside 360˚

orientation, is sure to appeal to rental and

staging professionals.”

The projectors include a fail-safe

dual-drive laser optical engine which ensures

20,000 hours maintenance free laser lighting.

A new liquid-cooling system reduces operating

noise and maximises the laser light source

performance.

The PT-RQ13K is set for release in autumn

2015, while the PT-RZ12K and PT- RS11K will be

available from summer 2015.

Powersoft presents the X4. Much more than

a simple amplifi er, the Powersoft X4 provides

unmatched levels of versatility, fl exibility and

power without compromising on size, effi ciency

and audio quality in an elegant 1U rack.

The Powersoft X4 integrates a large amount

of functionality, generally only found in separate

outboard units: a new three phase power supply

with worldwide AC acceptance, an innovative

system of channel routing and a revolutionary

fully-featured DSP. X4 natively supports AES3, two

redundant Dante by Audinate digital streams

and analogue inputs, providing up to four

selectable input sources per channel. Powersoft

X4 condenses four channels into 1RU and delivers

up to 5,000W @ 2 ohms per channel.

The X4 is quite simply the most powerful

professional power amplifi er in the market to

date, and has been designed with sights fi rmly

fi xed on the future: Powersoft R&D looked at

what they believe amplifi ers will require for the

next 10 years and made a platform capable

of meeting these needs as well as building in a

certain level of ‘future proof’ expandability.

The X4 is part of the X Series, which also

comprises the X8, which boasts eight channels

in a 2U chassis. Both models share the same

power density, being capable of delivering up to

5,000W @ 2 ohms per channel.

When the X4 was unveiled at Prolight+Sound

show in Frankfurt in 2014, it marked a real

evolution in pro-audio amplifi cation, much

as the seminal K Series did back in 1995 when

technologies such as Power Factor Correction

(PFC) and switch-mode amplifi cation were

introduced for the fi rst time into the professional

audio industry.

Suitable for both low and high impedance

applications, the Powersoft X4 is equally suitable

for professional fi xed installations and concert

touring. The modular construction permits the rear

input/output connections to feature either XLR/

speakON or Phoenix connectors, depending on

the requirement of the specifi c application.

The philosophy behind the X Series is to permit

the audio system to operate independently

from the power mains available at the venue

and to allow even smaller racks to be brought

to run the show. It brings the industry even

closer to complete integration and provides an

unmatched level of control over the behaviour

of both the audio and power source.

The truly universal power supply has worldwide

AC acceptance and allows direct connection

to any regional power line confi guration: it is

suitable for Single Phase, Bi-Phase or Three Phase

operation from 85V AC up to 440V AC without

the need for manual selection. True Three Phase

load balancing is directly achievable by the

unit without any complex load assignment in

the power distribution system design. Neutral

connection is not necessary given the capability

of the unit to work in delta connection on Three

Phase Systems. The power supply also features full

Power Factor Correction as well as Powersoft’s

patented Smart Rails Management technology,

ensuring that the X Series runs as cool and

effi ciently as is currently possible.

The renowned reliability of Powersoft’s

power supplies and the fully protected circuit

design guarantee high sustained power to any

and all of the output channels of Powersoft

X Series amplifi ers.

Managing power with Powersoft X4 and

X8 becomes extremely easy thanks to the

integrated revolutionary low latency DSP

providing outstanding quality in signal processing

as well as a complete routing and mixing of the

input/output channels. Signal management

and processing architecture on the Powersoft

X Series is composed of six separate sections:

Input source selection; Input processing;

Matrix; Pre-output processing; Speaker routing;

Output processing.

The set-up parameters of the Powersoft

X Series are fully integrated into Armonía Pro

Audio Suite™ which offers an intuitive interface

for parameter adjustment, a comprehensive

control over the digital audio processing and

complete real-time monitoring of the system

performance. An integrated WiFi connection

permits the Powersoft X Series to be accessed

and managed via any smartphone or tablet

through a user interface specifi cally developed

for local monitoring.

In 2014, SiliconCore Technology completed

the installation of the world’s fi rst high-

resolution LED video wall with an anti-moiré

fi lter. The groundbreaking anti-moiré technology

was developed over a period of 12 months of

extensive testing and benchmarks and made its

debut to the wider AV industry at ISE 2015.

Moiré patterns are a well known and

common problem when using LED displays within

a broadcast environment, causing fl ickering and

false colours to appear on the screen during

video footage, which can be distracting for the

viewer. The effect occurs when the camera’s

pixels do not line up with the fi ne pattern of the

LEDs, providing a challenge for broadcasters

which is usually combated by fi xed camera

angles and shots.

SiliconCore’s unique solution removes moiré

interference on high-resolution LED video walls

providing full fl exibility in the studio, something

that has never before been accomplished.

The patented fi lter can be used with any

of SiliconCore’s Common Cathode-driven LED

displays, meaning the new solution not only

provides any broadcast studio with new levels

of freedom and creativity, but also enhances

contrast and black level in the picture.

Having revolutionised the LED display industry

with its Common Cathode technology, replacing

the traditional Common Anode approach,

SiliconCore is applying its technology to creating

the next generation of television studio. The

Common Cathode design is much more effi cient

at generating a given brightness for a given

amount of power, ensuring that less power is

wasted as heat, reducing power consumption

and increasing the lifespan of the display.

SiliconCore’s range of LED solutions all boast

ultra-wide viewing angles enabling a stunning

off-axis performance without colour shift and

ensuring the screen can perform in a wide range

of studio environments. This is complemented by

high power effi ciency, excellent uniformity and

low heat generation, enabling completely silent,

fan-less operation and positioning a SiliconCore

anti-moiré broadcast solution well above other

displays in its class.

The specialised circuitry of the display

eliminates ghosting by forcing the LED to

discharge before the next signal. The design of

the driver chip completely removes reverse bias

so that noise from the signal is abolished and true

blacks are achieved without background noise.

This innovative, groundbreaking and fl exible

solution for removing moiré opens a new set

of possibilities for the broadcasting industry

worldwide. Combining the cutting-edge

features of Common Cathode technology with

a specialist anti-moiré fi lter makes for a striking

back drop and live correspondence screen

which benefi ts from a market leading total cost

of ownership.

Symetrix SymNet Composer 3.0

Symetrix

Symetrix has launched SymNet Composer

3.0, an update to the manufacturer’s

award-winning open architecture design

software. Version 3.0 has built upon the native

support of Audinate’s Dante media networking

technology for select third-party devices in earlier

releases, and extends support of market-leading

products thanks to new partnerships with Shure

Inc. and Audio-Technica.

Now, integrators can streamline their set-up

procedures and achieve network discovery,

Dante signal routing, and audio set-up of

supported third-party devices from the two

new manufacturers alongside Attero Tech and

Stewart Audio with a single piece of software.

“The previous version of Composer was

genuinely groundbreaking because it meant less

software to keep up-to-date and less jumping

between different items of software,” says Trent

Wagner, Senior Product Manager at Symetrix.

“Since launch, integrators have consistently told

us that it is saving them both time and money.

Now, with SymNet Composer 3.0, we are delighted

to be able to extend this ease of confi guration

to several other market-leading products and

make it possible for a Dante-based system to

be confi gured quickly and easily from input to

amplifi er through a single software program.”

For Shure users, SymNet Composer 3.0 brings

the MXWAPT4 and MXWAPT8 access point

transceivers from Shure's Microfl ex™ Wireless

range into the SymNet fold.

Chad Wiggins, Director of Networked Audio

Systems, Global Product Management at Shure

Incorporated, emphasises the benefi ts of the

integration for one specifi c market segment:

“Symetrix provides a great conference room

solution with its SymNet Radius and Edge line of

DSP processors, and we think they pair nicely with

our Microfl ex™ Wireless microphone system which

excels in that application environment. The audio

and control interoperability of these two products

gives our integrators a powerful tool to easily

design fl exible, feature-rich audio systems.”

SymNet Composer 3.0 also adds native Dante

confi guration for two leading products from

another prominent microphone manufacturer,

Audio-Technica. The two supported items are

the ATND971 Dante-enabled cardioid condenser

boundary microphone and the ATND8677 Dante-

enabled microphone desk stand, which can be

used with any gooseneck microphone sporting a

three-pin XLRM-type output connector.

Gary Dixon, Sales Engineer, Installed Sound at

Audio-Technica US, remarks: “With the integration

of Audio-Technica and Symetrix technologies,

the microphone becomes the ‘user interface’

for the AV system. It is able to capture audio,

transmit a user button press and provide visual

feedback for the end-user “all over category

cable utilising standard networking protocols.

This means reducing the equipment specifi ed by

the consultant and simplifying the on-site wiring

for the installer. The signal routing and control

signals can be designed, tested and implemented

virtually. Ultimately, the AV designer can be more

creative in controlling how the end-user interacts

with the system.”

The new version of SymNet Composer also

includes a number of Window Management

(Composer UI) Framework improvements, giving

the user greater freedom to move pallets to

any side of the screen they desire, resize them

in place and nest them into tabbed pallets. It

is also possible to create specifi c menu bars for

frequently accessed commands and customise

toolbars to keep preferred shortcuts at hand.

Symetrix founder and CEO Dane Butcher

comments: “Our overriding objective at Symetrix is

to make integrators’ lives easier, and it is clear that

requirement will gain signifi cance as we move into

the world of comprehensive A/V networking. With

SymNet Composer 3.0, I believe that we have

taken our support of integrators to a new and

higher level.”

Toshiba’s TD-E series is a new and innovative

digital signage solution which combines

high-quality and vibrant imagery with a

robust yet stylish design, ensuring customers in

commercial environments are engaged with the

latest products and services from the company

throughout the working day – be it the latest

clothing range or special offer.

Built to run non-stop for 16 hours a day, 7 days

a week, the durable and reliable experience the

TD-E series provides really sets it apart. The device

provides an impactful display for businesses,

catching the eye of passers-by even in busy areas

such as a shopping or conference centre. It also

features a slim yet strong design, so is suitably

compact and robust for industrial installation.

On top of this, users have the added fl exibility of

mounting the device in either portrait or landscape

mode, meaning images can be displayed in the

optimal way for the space and location.

Housed in a robust metal cabinet, the TD-E

series features a narrow bezel, slim profi le and

sleek matt black fi nish, which encases a Full

HD 1080p resolution screen and 178º viewing

angle, making it an ideal tool for crisp and clear

communications which can be viewed from

almost any angle in the surrounding area. This is

supported by LED backlighting and high screen

brightness to provide even greater vibrancy

and clarity.

The product is also equipped with a host

of connectivity options, providing fl exible and

easy-to-use management tools which are

ideal for an array of commercial and corporate

environments. For example, an RS-232 port

allows the user to control the display’s power

and input settings from a central location,

allowing them to optimise multiple displays for

the greatest possible impact on customers.

An Open Pluggable Specifi cation (OPS) slot

also makes the TD-E Series better connected

perspective, while negating the need for

leads or external equipment. It’s also more

intelligent and secure, enabling other

recommended OPS units to slot directly into

the back of the display.

The TD-E series is also extremely competitively

priced in its market, offering an affordable

solution for businesses which don’t necessarily

need an always-on service, but rely on a quality

display experience throughout the working day.

Launched in late-2014, the TD-E series is

currently available at 102cm (40”) (TD-E401) and

127cm (50”) (TD-E501) in Europe. The range is also

set to expand to a 65” model, which is due to

become available later this year.

JBL’s Control HST represents a new

concept in compact on-wall speakers.

Incorporating patent-pending HST

Hemispherical Soundfi eld Technology™, this

speaker covers an extremely wide 180 degrees

(a hemisphere of coverage), reducing the

number of speakers needed to cover a space

and thus reducing overall installation and

system cost.

In addition, HST vastly reduces the primary wall

refl ection that has been affl icting on-wall speakers

for years. Refl ections of most on-wall speakers add

peaks and dips in the frequency response

(at frequencies where the refl ected sound is

either in-phase or out-of-phase with the original).

Plus the frequencies of the peaks and dips

change as you move around the room, so you

can ‘EQ them away’. Eliminating this primary

wall refl ection results in a fl atter frequency

response, and very consistent sound character

from location to location within the listening

area, providing high fi delity sound throughout

the space.

FreeSpeak II™’s ground-breaking design

and technology makes it the highest

performing wireless intercom option. It can

be tailored for applications of any magnitude

and complexity, and within varying environments.

The intercom solution also delivers unmatched

quality audio, innovative features and benefi cial

capabilities that increase productivity. Production

teams across the world, including those at the

Commonwealth Games, War of the Worlds and

Muziektheater, have benefi ted from FreeSpeak II.

FreeSpeak II enables users to collaborate

effectively despite challenging work conditions,

such as RF interference and poor weather. In

spaces saturated with 2.4GHz consumer devices,

many wireless intercoms suffer from audio fading

and connection loss since they are competing

for the same frequency spectrum. FreeSpeak

II operates in multiple license-free DECT bands

from 1.897-1.933GHz. Thus, it enables continuous,

clear communication in RF hostile settings and

eliminates the need for frequency co-ordination.

FreeSpeak II’s new active antennas and

wireless beltpacks are built with state-of-the-

art technology that enhances reliable wireless

connections. Active antennas utilise separate

data and audio channels in DECT6 to create a

dependable link between beltpacks and the

base station or Eclipse HX matrices. Beltpacks

possess cellular auto-roaming technology,

allowing them to constantly scan and

automatically select the optimal wireless signal.

The system can also withstand frequent

usage in harsh environments. The beltpack is

IP-65 rated, which means that it is water and

dust resistant for demanding outdoor and indoor

use. The beltpack’s rugged exterior housing is

also constructed with polycarbonate plastic and

thermoplastic elastomer overmold, making it

highly durable.

In addition, FreeSpeak II is scalable for

applications of different sizes and sophistication.

With FreeSpeak II, people can easily add

more beltpack users as their team grows. They

can also extend communication across large

work spaces. As a standalone base station,

the system can support 20 full-duplex wireless

beltpacks. This is the preferred option for smaller

applications requiring a few mobile users. It can

also be scaled for mid-to-large installations. By

implementing it as an integrated wireless solution

within Eclipse HX matrices, known as FreeSpeak

II Integra, up to 50 full-duplex wireless beltpacks

can be used simultaneously.

Moreover, the system’s wireless coverage

can be expanded with locally-powered active

antennas. Antennas can be positioned up to

3,200ft away, or 800ft away when centrally

powered from the base station. Five-way

antenna splitters and up to 10 antennas can

be installed to create an exceptionally wide

coverage zone for beltpack users to roam.

Users are also able to take advantage of

FreeSpeak II’s high-quality audio, ease-of-use

and advanced features. The system delivers

superior digital ‘Clear-Com Sound’ for clear

intelligibility and ultimate audio comfort.

The intuitive design of the beltpack makes it

simple for users to navigate the interface and

customise settings. Beltpacks offer fi ve intercom

channels to enable effi cient management

of workfl ows. And innovations such as “Listen

Again” message replay as well as battery

health, RF status and antenna link monitoring

add convenience. By providing fl exibility,

simplicity and high performance, FreeSpeak

II offers users the most remarkable wireless

communication experience.

TecVision engineered surface technology

offers a departure from typical projection

screen production. Utilising technologically

advanced manufacturing methods and

proprietary scientifi c formulations, TecVision

viewing surfaces meet the rigorous demands

of today’s projectors and the environments

in which screens are and will be used.

TecVision screens are individually produced,

individually formulated and programmed, and

manufactured with multiple checks for quality,

consistency, and uniformity from start to fi nish.

TecVision is available in six exclusive

formulations, featuring white surfaces with gains

ranging from 1.3 to 1.9 over remarkably wide

viewing cones, and grey surfaces with excellent

performance under ambient light. TecVision

surfaces are available on several Draper electric

screen models.

Fine TuningTecVision screens can be tailored to meet the

exact specifi cations for a variety of rooms and

situations. A screen that combines the best of

different surface attributes can be formulated,

allowing for the ultimate in fi ne-tuning.

Some specifi cs on the TecVision models

XH900X Grey features an extra wide viewing

cone, high contrast, and on-axis gain of 0.9.

MS1000X Grey has a moderate viewing cone,

superior contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.0.

XT1300X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.3.

XT1600X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.6.

XT1800X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.8.

Newer OfferingsFollowing the introduction of these fi rst fi ve

surfaces, Draper introduced a sixth TecVision

product, XT1000X White. This newest surface

offers a top-line option for purists who want a

1.0 white screen, and its very low gloss means

it is excellent for edge-blending applications.

XT1000X White has an extra wide viewing cone

and typical contrast. This surface is a prime

example of TecVision’s possibilities, and shows

one of the ways the line stands head and

shoulders above other screen surfaces. It was

developed for a specifi c customer need. The

customer wanted the TecVision XT1300X White,

but with a 1.0 gain and a much lower gloss level

for edge blending. Draper’s chemists got to

work and engineered a new screen to this spec,

which was then also added to our standard

TecVision offerings.

DigiClass from iBoardTouch is software that

wirelessly connects up to 40 personal

devices, from Android tablets and iPads

to Windows laptops, to the classroom interactive

touch screen – transforming the classroom,

creating a digital classroom ready for interactive

real-time collaboration.

We believe DigiClass is worthy of a Best of ISE

award, and here’s why:

It’s clear that schools and colleges want

to embrace new ways of teaching and

learning that engage learners using the touch

technology they respond to. Large-format

touchscreens are the preferred piece of tech

in the UK’s classrooms and learning spaces,

alongside tablets and ipads and increasingly the

need and desire exists to join all tech devices

for full interactive capability and effortless

collaboration. DigiClass enhances teaching

and learning by enabling all these devices to

connect simply and elegantly; students and

teachers can interact with the classroom

touchscreen, empowering active participation

even from quiet students or those reluctant to

speak up in class

With DigiClass, everything on the interactive

touchscreen is displayed on all classroom

devices – that connection is two-way, students

can be given control by the teacher so that the

contents of their device’s screen are displayed

on the large screen.

Any content can be displayed, annotated,

shared with the classroom devices, from

whiteboarding session to webpage, from

Offi ce document to cloud-based content and

from PowerPoint lessons to native Smart or

Promethean fi les, when IBT’s IWB Pro software

is installed. IBT’s IWB Pro software is the only

software globally that has the ability to open

smart and promethean fi les natively on

iBoardTouch screens.

DigiClass can be used to set tasks for students,

so they can work individually or in small groups

on their devices or using traditional methods

like pen and paper, and to share their work and

ideas with the class.

DigiClass also negates the need for separate

voting systems and visualisers, reducing costs for

the school, keeping classroom uncluttered and

minimising the devices to be managed. DigiClass

also turns any device with a built-in camera into

a visualiser. You simply hover your device over

a document or object and send the image

wirelessly to the touchscreen.

A built-in voting panel enables questions to

be set to the class to gauge levels of

understanding, to start discussions and to

measure changes in understanding between

the start and end of a lesson.

DigiClass gives schools, teachers and their

students freedom and fl exibility; freedom to

choose any type of device and any platform

from Android tablet, to iPad, Chromebook or any

Windows device, and, the fl exibility to have a mix

of all the above.

With this comes future proofi ng, because it

leaves schools free to provide personal devices for

students, or enable students and teachers to bring

their own device or a combination of the two.

To sum up, DigiClass deserves a Best of

Show award because it makes interactive

collaboration simple and easy in the classroom,

so teachers can forget the technology and focus

on what they do best.

TecVisionDraper

TecVision Engineered Surface Technology

offers a departure from typical projection

screen production. Utilising technologically

advanced manufacturing methods and

proprietary scientifi c formulations, TecVision

viewing surfaces meet the rigorous demands

of today’s projectors and the environments in

which screens are and will be used. Rather than

using “mass-production” methods in order to

minimise costs, TecVision screens are individually

produced individually formulated and

programmed, and manufactured with multiple

checks for quality, consistency and uniformity

from start to fi nish.

TecVision is available in six exclusive

formulations, featuring white surfaces with gains

ranging from 1.3 to 1.9 over remarkably wide

viewing cones, and grey surfaces with excellent

performance under ambient light. TecVision

surfaces are available on several Draper electric

screen models.

TecVision represents a real advance because

it is easier than ever to “fi ne-tune” a screen to

your room. In the past, a close fi t was as good

as a screen manufacturer could get, and often

represented simply choosing the lesser of two

evils. But with Draper’s TecVision, a screen can

be tailored to meet exact specifi cations for a

certain type of room/situation. Thus, a screen

that combines the best of different surface

attributes can be formulated, allowing the

ultimate in fi ne-tuning.

All TecVision surfaces are engineered for high

contrast, precise resolution, colour accuracy and

the broadest possible viewing cone. All TecVision

surfaces offer superior quality, consistency,

uniformity and are 4K ready. They are all ISF

certifi ed, as well. Here are some specifi cs:

XH900X Grey features an extra wide viewing

cone, high contrast and on-axis gain of 0.9.

XH900X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate ambient light is present.

MS1000X Grey has a moderate viewing

cone, superior contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.0.

MS1000X Grey performs very well in situations

where moderate to high ambient light is present.

XT1300X White’s extra wide viewing cone,

typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.3 helps

it perform best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is slightly

lower than desired.

XT1600X White has an extra wide viewing

cone, typical contrast, and on-axis gain of 1.6.

It also performs best where ambient light is

controlled but projector brightness is moderately

lower than desired.

XT1800X White also features an extra wide

viewing cone and typical contrast, but with

a higher on-axis gain of 1.8. XT1800X White

performs best where ambient light is controlled

but projector brightness is signifi cantly lower than

desired. XT1800X White is perfectly suited for

active 3D or colour combining passive 3D systems.

Following the introduction of these fi rst fi ve

surfaces, Draper introduced a sixth TecVision

product, XT1000X White. This newest surface

offers a top line option for purists who want a

1.0 white screen, and its very low gloss means

it is excellent for edge-blending applications.

XT1000X White has an extra wide viewing cone

and typical contrast. This surface is a prime

example of TecVision’s possibilities, and shows

one of the ways the line stands head and

shoulders above other screen surfaces. It was

developed for a specifi c customer need. The

customer wanted the TecVision XT1300X White,

but with a 1.0 gain and a much lower gloss level

for edge blending. Draper’s chemists got to

work and engineered a new screen to this spec,

which was then also added to our standard

TecVision offerings.

When discussing projection screen

technology, it is easy to get lost in the numbers

and descriptive terms. The proof, as they say, is in

the pudding. What do dealers, installers and end

users think about TecVision? Here are just a few

of the initial reactions Draper has received:

“I am blown away.”

“How did you do this?”

“You obviously know what you’re doing.”

Collaboration. A

word that is widely

banded about the

AV industry these days. But

what does it actually mean?

What is ‘real’ collaboration?

Here at Kramer we take a

very different view to others

on collaboration and with

the VIA Collage we have

launched what we believe

to be a ‘real’ collaboration

solution.

Based around a simple,

free to download app, this

cloud-based technology allows multiple users

to work simultaneous on multiple documents

displayed on the main screen, for the image

displayed on the main screen to be sent back to

the participants devices and to display full motion

1080P 60Hz video. Up to 6 different devices can

be displayed in a single screen environment or 12

different devices in dual screen mode, be they

IOS, Windows or Android. Third-party software

such as Microsoft Offi ce

Suite can be directly loaded onto the VIA Collage

and these programmes can be launched

remotely by any participant. All documents

on screen can be collaborated upon by all

participants simultaneously.

The Kramer VIA Collage provides the ability

to work in a new way with multiple users. No

more searching for a connecting cable, an end

to asking the presenter to forward the material

later via email and forget about working on an

old fashioned whiteboard when VIA Collage

allows multiple users to annotate a document

or presentation on-screen simultaneously and

without cables.

Regardless of where the application resides or

what format it is, multiple users can work on the

same fi le in real time. This is true collaboration – VIA

Collage does far more than just display multiple

images on screen. It allows participants to take

control of the presenter’s computer, to modify

documents, to share fi les and work together

faster than previously possible. No more sending

documents or fi les for review to multiple users and

asking for feedback – make the changes in real

time as participants interact and work together.

With video playing an ever-more important

part in meetings, VIA Collage allows full screen

or multiple windows playback of 1080P 60Hz full

motion video. VIA Collage features an HDMI

input and both HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

This ensures maximum integration with existing

AV/VC facilities and the HDMI input can be

defi ned as one of the sources for display on

the main screen.

Full annotation is

available on the VIA Collage

allowing ‘dynamic white

boarding’ with the ability

to capture and share the

annotated image.

A unique feature of VIA

Collage is the ability to send

the main screen image directly

to all participant devices. This

means that all participants,

including those with no clear

view of the main screen can

see the presented image

straight in front of them. Full

user mirroring was introduced at ISE and applications

such as Lync and Go To Meeting can be loaded

onto the VIA Collage units’ internal hard drive.

To connect to VIA Collage you simply launch

the app on your smartphone, PC or tablet, enter

the room number, password and your unique ID

and start presenting, sharing and collaborating.

A virtual client facility is as available enabling

those with ‘locked down’ devices to use VIA.

An in-built chat function allows you to message

fellow participants in private and with ‘enable

control’ a presenter can give a participant control

over their Windows or Mac screen.

Smartphone, PC, tablet or Mac, no other

‘collaboration’ tool offers all the facilities that are

available on VIA Collage.

collaboration’ solution from Kramer Electronics.
