Maxum Gas Chromatograph Portal (GCP) Release 5.2 Chromatogram Preprocessing – Smoothing
Chromatogram PreprocessingSoftware noise reduction “data smoothing” which has been provided in previous Maxum system software is now integrated with GCP. This powerful feature permits significant reduction in electrical and system “white noise” that may be present on very low-signal-level measurements.
Chromatogram preprocessing or smoothing should only be used when noise levels are high and the smoothing software does not distort the readings.

Other Enhancements to the Modular Oven
ATEX certificate updated • Acetylene added to the certificate
IECEx certificate updated• Singapore & Karlsruhe facility to be added
Redesigned I/O cage (Summer 2015)• Easier access• Still optional to maintain low cost option
New APU option – px purge (Sumer 2015)• For facilities that need automatic power cut
to Maxum on loss of purge• Not a requirement for IECEx, ATEX or CSA

Maxum Airbath/Airless Electronics Update
A significant set of changes was activated in manufacturing on January, 2015 to address the following challenges
• Component obsolescence mitigation• Full RoHS compliance• Hardware simplification and clean-up• Resolution of any known hardware issues
Unchanged philosophyAll released boards are the new spare part where a previous board revision existed.

Simplification: Removing Duplicate Controller
Touchscreen Interface Board (TIB)
Network Access Units that have a color touchscreen will have a TIB.
TIB solution will be rolled out for all Maxum Airbath/Airless.
Maxum Modular Oven, and color display upgrade kits will still use CIM.
TIB requires Syscon 2 with SIB3 board
Controller Interface Module (CIM)
NAU: CIM board is too big for color touchscreenMaxum Airbath/Airless: complex 2 CPU solution
Transfer all computing & display functions to SYSCON, shrink CIM board to solely a touchscreen controller function.

Further Simplification: Electronics and I2C Wiring
Current Maxum I2C Wiring Wiring Distribution Board (WDB) routes I2C cabling through center of electronics compartment
Cable congestion
A need to redesign PECM CTRL (obsolescence mitigation, RoHS compliance) offered opportunity to clean up.

Eliminating Wiring Distribution Board
Maxum I2C Wiring –Redesigned
Wiring Distribution Board (WDB) eliminated, added 3 I2C ports to new PECM CTRL board.
Eliminate one I2C and one power cable
Re-route DPM and EPC wiring behind and below in mezzanine.
I2C pull-up dip switch on SYSCON2 replaced with automatic pull-up sense on new SYSCON 2.1. Eliminates occasional I2C misconfiguration.
