The Ohr Hachaim That TestifiesBY MOSHE HANDLER

Looks are very deceiving. If you saw the old copy of the Ohr

Hachaim on Rabbi Kimmel’s desk, you might wonder why he insists on using an old worn sefer when he can easily learn from a much nicer one with modern typesetting.

If you knew the secret of that par-ticular copy, you would never ask. It’s an irreplaceable treasure.

This is the very Ohr Hachaim with which Rabbi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l stud-ied from day in and day out for most of his life. It is from this very copy that Rabbi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l read from for hours and hours a day to the Baba Sali when the aging rabbi’s eyesight was fail-ing and he was no longer able to read for himself.

If you look around further in the of-fice you might spot a very special pair of Tefillin. This is the “Shmi Shel Rabba” (a very special version of Tefillin written to the specifications of the Rashash) that Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l wore every day.

In the same office, you’ll also spot a “Kvittel” in Rabbi Alfassi’s handwriting giv-en to Rabbi Kimmel when he was deathly ill in which he asked Rabbi Yitzchak Kim-mel to daven (pray) for him.

The fact that these items are in Rabbi Kimmel’s possession testify to his long and close relationship to Rabbi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l. They were given to Rabbi Kimmel by the Rabbanit Alfassi shortly after the passing of her husband. She told Rabbi Kimmel that her husband wanted

only him to have these treasured items.Did Rabbi Kimmel have a Rebbe and

Talmid relationship with Rabbi Alfasi ztz’l?

I was personally present when the Rabbanit Alfassi visited Rabbi Kimmel’s office some time after her husband’s Petirah (passing). In a very emotional three hour meeting, the Rabbanit ex-plained that out of the tens of thousands of people Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l had seen, Rabbi Alfassi had told her that he had only told one person ever in his life to study the hidden secrets of Torah and to help people as a Mekubal.

That person was Rabbi Yitzchak Kimmel. I had long been aware of the profound

personal relationship between Rabbi Al-fassi and Rabbi Kimmel. I knew of the Rebbe’s constant urging to Rabbi Kim-mel to never give up seeing and help-ing people. But I had never known until then that Rabbi Kimmel was the only one ever guided by Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l to be a Mekubal to help people.

I first met Rabbi Kimmel about 25 years ago. We quickly became close friends and would often go together to visit Rabbi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l and Rabbi Moshe Ben Tov ztz”l. While both of them loved to see Rabbi Kimmel (who was not yet known as a Rabbi,) I observed how the relationship between Rabbi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l and Rabbi Kimmel quickly became very close, very deep.

Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l insisted that Rabbi Kimmel must immediately start study-

ing the hidden Torah. He affirmed that Rabbi Kimmel would become renowned as an influential Mekubal. Within a few years, Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l directed Rabbi Kimmel to begin helping people. Whenever Rabbi Kimmel had any kind of dif-ficult question that needed answering, he would call Rabbi Alfassi ztz”l in Eretz Yisroel. I was personally in-volved in hundreds of these calls and I know of many more calls made without my participation. Their re-lationship was clearly one of a Rebbe to a talmid, who loved one another dearly.

before my eyes gave me a burst of energy that kept me encouraging Rabbi Kimmel to keep going. He, too, was energized by his unique ability to help people and fre-quently pushed himself past exhaustion each night. There were so many people in need of his special abilities.

Every night we worked was an ex-perience in seeing precious and price-less wonders. It was a given that Rabbi Kimmel could see both the good and bad points of each person in detail. I was daily amazed at this, but there were some moments so great, they changed me forever.

I will never forget one Chassidic cou-ple. They clearly cared for each other greatly, yet the man wanted to divorce his wife. They had been married almost 10 years and were childless. No matter which doctor he went to, he kept be-ing told that he was incapable of having children.

“How could I ever deny my healthy wife the joy of having and raising a child?” he argued. His wife was equally insistent. “I love my husband and I want to stay with him for life. I am willing to give up having children forever to stay married to him.”

It took every ounce of self control for me not to burst out in tears, seeing this great devotion and love that a hus-band and wife could have for each other. I glanced at Rabbi Kimmel and could see he was affected as much as I was. (There’s a certain look that sometimes comes over Rabbi Kimmel’s face. If you know him well enough, you recognize that when that look appears, something is changing in the heavenly realms of Shomaim.)

Then, for the very first time, I heard Rabbi Kimmel make a promise. He looked at them and said. “You will have children. I promise you.”

The couple looked at each other wordlessly not knowing what to say. Rabbi Kimmel saw their hesitation and continued. “You don’t believe me?” he asked. They stared at him still not know-ing what to say.

“OK, I’ll even describe your baby; I can see him now in your arms.” Rabbi Kimmel then proceeded to describe in minute detail the features their baby would have. The hair color, the eye col-or, the fact that it was a boy and even a description of the baby carriage he could see him in. By the time Rabbi Kimmel was finished with the details, I could see the couple were in tears since they finally believed and accepted everything he said.

They had walked into the room re-signed to never having children, but they floated out of the room thrilled that at some point they would have the zchus (merit) to be parents.

I cannot describe the personal joy I experienced 14 months later when I saw this same couple return to see Rabbi Kimmel with their baby boy – a child that matched in every detail the descrip-tion Rabbi Kimmel had given before. They proudly presented the tiny infant

to receive a Brocha (blessing) directly from Rabbi Kimmel.

Once again, Rabbi Kimmel had proven the doctors wrong. My happi-ness could not compare to the obvious joy of these people who had seen Rabbi Kimmel’s Brocha come to fruition. Inci-dents like these were becoming a nightly occurrence.

Seven Baalei Tshuvahs at a TimeAn uncle of a twelve-year old girl

came one Wednesday, concerned that the girl was becoming sicker and sicker each month. After a year of worsening results, the doctors were completely baffled. They could not find the source of her internal bleeding which just kept worsening. Rabbi Kimmel explained that the bleeding could only be stopped if the family of the girl and the girl herself would return to being “Shomer Shab-bat,” as they had been before they moved to the USA from Iran many years before. He gave a detailed description of their grandfather who had passed away in Iran and was now present in the room, begging the Rabbi to convince them be-come Shomer Shabbat once again.

He imitated the grandfather’s walk and described the features of his face, but when he described how the grand-father used to dance with them at the Shabbos table and even started singing the special song that he sang while danc-ing with his granddaughter each Friday night, the mother of the afflicted girl and her brother burst into tears.

It was impossible for the Rabbi to know these details without Divine inter-vention. It turned out that each member of the family longed to keep Shabbat for years but could not tell each other for fear of being ridiculed. By Friday that same week, the entire family celebrated together as they became Shomer Shab-bat once again. Tears flowed at the table as they sang the Shabbat Z’mirot they had not sung in so many years.

A week later, the boyfriend of the girl’s mother (she was divorced and told her boyfriend she was dropping him be-cause he was not Shomer Shabbat) swore that he would keep Shabbat for the rest of his life if she would take him back.

Within three months, the girl’s symptoms completely disappeared. The mother married the now Shomer Shab-bat boyfriend and the family has happily remained Torah observant to this very day. The uncle still comes in to see Rabbi Kimmel.

Never A Penny DemandedDuring the years that we saw people

at Rabbi Kimmel’s home, I witnessed Rabbi Kimmel turn down substantial donations that were offered to him. He always wanted to help people complete-ly L’shaim Shomaim (for its own sake). Years later, when helping people became more than a full-time focus, we were forced to accept donations to support:

ü An office staff which had to be paid weekly.

ü To pay for office expenses such as electric & phone

ü The purchase of Seforim, Mezuzos and Tefilin for many people.

ü The burden of supporting several Torah families each week.

Although as an organization, the money is desperately needed, no one

was or is ever) turned away from receiv-ing help because they cannot pay for an appointment. In fact, in the past year or so, because of the weakening economy, Rabbi Kimmel has increased his hours in order to avoid being forced to drop Torah families he is taking care of and in order to avoid setting a fee for his time.

Rabbi Kimmel Is Absolutely for Real I have not worked in Rabbi Kimmel’s

office for the past two years. During this time many people have called me at home and have asked me the same ques-tion. It’s always a variation of “Is Rabbi Kimmel really for real?” My answer is

very simple. Absolutely yes. He is most certainly for real.

There is no human being alive that can counterfeit the ability to see the most hidden details of people’s lives. His ability to see future events is just as de-tailed and sometimes frightening. (Now is really the time to do T’shuva.)

Many world-famous Rebbes and Me-kubalim not only approve of Rabbi Kim-mel, they seek his advice and even send people to him for help. (I will be work-ing to get them to agree to allow me to publish their names in the near future.

We have never asked them for this per-

mission before. I will periodically up-date this article with a list of those who allow us to publish their names.) He is in constant touch and works on Tikkunim with some of the world’s most renowned Mekubalim.

From the earliest days of Rabbi Kim-mel’s work until now, I’ve been blessed to personally observe:

• His close relationship with Rab-bi Eliyahu Alfassi ztz”l

• The Rabbanit Alfassi’s acknowl-edgment of that relationship

• The non-stop continuous line of

The Rabbanit Alfasi, her son in law, Rabbi Yitzchak Kimmel and Rav Sim-cha Cook meet.

The renowned Rabbi Chuli shlita, meets with Rabbi Kimmel at the Hachnosas Sefer Torah in honor of Rabbi Eliyahu Alfasi ztz’l.

Rabbi Alfasi ztz’l, wrote his own Kvittel and gave it to Rabbi Kimmel, asking Rabbi Kimmel to daven for him.

The Rabbanit Alfasi Meets with Rabbi KimmelBecause I was fluent in both Hebrew and English, I was chosen to act as translator when Rabbi Kimmel met the Rabbanit Alfasi for the first time after her husbands Petirah. It was a Zchut just to be in the room during this meeting.

As I greeted the Rabbanit in the hallway outside of Rabbi Kimmels office, she remarked that she could feel her husbands presence even before she entered. During her three hour meeting with Rabbi Kimmel she told him that her husband had told her that Rabbi Yitzchak Kimmel was the only other per-son who could “see and change peoples lives, like he did.”

This 3 hour meeting between the Rabbanit and Rabbi Kimmel was a spectacular experience I could never forget. As much as I had observed the incred-ible power and details of Rabbi Kimmels vision and abilities before, during this meeting there was a new level that I had never previously seen.

The Rabbanit Alfasi kept remarking that she felt her husband in the room. At different points she even said she could even see him in the room. I had nev-er met Rabbi Alfasi before but I myself could clearly sense a presence in the room. That 3 hour meeting did more to enhance my Emunat Hashem than any other experience I have ever had in my life.

Your Non-Stop Chesed Machine, Rabbi Kimmel & Derech Dovid

Rabbi Yitzchak Kimmel and his organization, Derech Dovid have been devoted to helping Jews in all sorts of difficult situations since 2001. Here are only some of the highlights of accomplishments.

ADVERTORIAL

• Mezuzah awareness program. Sadly, the average mezuzah, even while kosher, does NOT meet the standards as written in the Mishna Brura and the Bais Yosef. Since Rabbi Kimmel started publiciz-ing these standards, over 10,000 Mezuzas and pairs of Tefilin have been upgraded to meet the minimum requirements.

There are many people who have seen their Mazal improve drastically by simply upgrading their Mezuzos.

Email Rabbi Kimmel at [email protected]. Put the words Mezuzah Information Request in the header and we will email you back this vital information at no cost.

• Rabbi Kimmel’s personal help. Rabbi Kimmel meets and advises over 500 people each week at his office. Visitors include Roshei Yeshivos, Rebbeim, Known Dayanim and of course average everyday people like you and me who need help.

• There are over 600 people on the waiting list for appointments with Rabbi Kimmel as of this writing.

• Public Tikkunim Everyone is invited to participate in Public Tikkunim as outlined by the Arizal Hakodosh or the Rashash. Please email [email protected] to be put on a list so you can be notified when these Tikkunim take place.

• Sifrei Torah Rabbi Kimmel has had a Sephardi Minhag Sefer Torah written and it is in use today. Plans are underway to write an Ashkenaz Sefer Torah at this time.

• Supporting Torah Families Some monies collected by Derech Dovid are used to support several acknowledged Torah Scholars. These families are carefully selected by invitation only and are chosen by the Rabbi himself. Once these families are selected, they receive their stipend week after week.

I have written this open letter to the public because I strongly believe that the record about the accomplishments of Rabbi Yitzchak Kimmel must be publicized and made clear.
