  Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean Indian Mission) is a

national level campaign by the Government of Indiacovering 4041 statutory towns to clean the streets,roads and infrastructure of the country.

This campaign was officially launched on 2 October2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime MinisterNarendra Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned aroad.

The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness driveand 3 million government employees and schools andcolleges students of India participated in this event.

The mission was started by Narendra Modi, the PrimeMinister of India, nominating nine famouspersonalities for this campaign, and they take up thechallenge and nominate nine more people and soon(like the branching of a tree). It has been carried

forward since then with famous people from all walksof life joining it.

PM initiated a chain cleaning mission by inviting thenine eminent personalities like cricket icon Sachin

Tendulkar, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, industrialistAnil Ambani, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, filmactors Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and KamalHassan, yoga guru Ramdev and the entire team ofpopular TV serial ―Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma‖

This campaign aims to accomplish the vision of'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, 150th birthday ofMahatma Gandhi and is expected to cost over INR62000 crore (US$10 billion).[3][9].

 The campaign was described as "beyond politics"and "inspired by patriotism".

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan ( Prime Minister's PeopleMoney Scheme) is a scheme forcomprehensive financial inclusion launched bythe Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 28August 2014[1] He had announced this scheme on his

first Independence Day speech on 15 August 2014. Run by Department of Financial Services, Ministry of

Finance, on the inauguration day, 1.5 Crore (15 million)bank accounts were opened under this scheme.[2][3]BySeptember 2014, 3.02 crore accounts were opened, with

around 1500 crore (US$240 million) were depositedunder the scheme, which also has an option foropening new bank accounts with zero balance.

It has aimed at improving the lives of millionsof India's poor by bringing them into thefinancial mainstream and freeing them from

the clutches of usurious moneylenders, whilegiving them a modicum of insurance cover.

Buoyed by the performance on Day 1, Modishortened the time for achieving the 7.5 crore

new accounts to five months from six, urgingthe finance ministry to complete the taskby January 26.

Under the scheme:  Account holders will be provided zero-balance bankaccount with RuPay debit card, in addition to accidentalinsurance cover of Rs 1 lakh.

Those who open accounts by January 20, 2015 over andabove the 1 lakh ₹ accident, they will be given life insurance

cover of Rs 30,000. After Six months of opening of the bank account, holders

can avail 5,000 ₹ loan from the bank.  With the introduction of new technology introduced by

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), a person

can transfer funds, check balance through a normal phonewhich was earlier limited only to smart phones so far. Mobile banking for the poor would be available through

National Unified USSD Platform (NUUP) for which allbanks and mobile companies have come together[

PMJDY was simultaneously launched at multiple centres by 20 chief ministers

and several union ministers — 

 Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow,External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Bhopal, Human ResourceDevelopment Minister Smriti Irani in Surat, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasadin Chennai and Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in Pune.

PERFORMANCE 

Due to the preparations done in the run-up, as mentioned above, on theinauguration day, 1.5 Crore (15 million) bank accounts wereopened.[2] The Prime Minister said on this occasion- "Let us celebratetoday as the day of financial freedom." By September 2014, 3.02 croreaccounts were opened under the scheme, amongst Public sector banks,SBI had opened 30 lakh accounts, followed by Punjab National Bank with20.24 lakh accounts, Canara Bank 16.21 lakh accounts, Central Bank of

India 15.98 lakh accounts and Bank of Baroda with 14.22 lakhaccounts. [5] It was reported that total of 7 Crore (70 million) bankaccounts have been opened with deposits totaling more than 5000 croreRupees (approx 1 billion USD) as of November 6, 2014. [9]

In case of Railways, 100 per cent FDI will nowbe allowed in railway infrastructure segmentssuch as electrification, signalling, high speedand suburban corridors

Estimates suggest that the opening of railwaysto foreign investors will add 1-1.5 percentagepoints to the overall GDP growth.

China and Japan are keen to invest in therailways sector.

However, FDI is not allowed in trainoperations and safety.

India has eased foreign direct investment rules forthe construction sector, in an effort to attract moremoney into the country to build new hotels,housing and townships

foreign investment is now allowed in projects witha minimum built area of 20,000 square metres,down from a previous 50,000 threshold

The minimum capital investment by foreigncompanies has also been halved to $5 million, the

government said in a statement Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to

create 100 new "smart cities" by 2020, and to makethat a reality foreign capital is likely to play a part.

India‘s Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the latestASEAN summit in Myanmar‘s capital Naypyidaw this weekto unveil India‘s new ―Act East Policy,‖ and convince hisSoutheast Asian counterparts that his government is seriousabout boosting ties with the region.

―A new era of economic development, industrialization andtrade has begun in India. Externally, India‘s ‗Look EastPolicy‘ has become ‗Act East Policy,‘‖ Modi told theASEAN-India Summit on November 12. 

Modi said that he believed that ―we are entering in a newera in the India-ASEAN partnership‖. The prime minister

also said that he is looking forward to discussing withASEAN leaders how to take ―our relationship to a newlevel, which will supplement our deepening bilateral tieswith each member‖.

The 2014 G-20 Australia summit was the ninth meeting of the G-20 heads of government.[1] It was held in Brisbane, the capital cityof Queensland, Australia, on 15–16 November 2014. 

Driven by a strong domestic political agenda of getting blackmoney back home, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sundaymanaged to get the Group of 20 include a certain clause in thefinal Leaders‘ Communiqué that will make it difficult for taxhavens to give complete tax exemption to companies.

 Mr modi spoke about the repatriation of Black money, which wasechoed on modernising tax rules and exchanging tax informationamong countries.

India, the world‘s largest recipient of remittances, wants the cost

of remittance transfers to be brought down — in theory more ofthe money would then be kept with Indians. The G20 committedto bring down the cost of such transfers, to 5%.
