Is It Possible to Know for Sure That You Are Going to Heaven?

The possibility of going to Heaven has certainly captured the minds of many

people as long as it has been known that there was a Heaven. The very abode of

the Almighty Creator of all things is the ultimate destination and many religionsteach that following their particular teachings will get people there or to its

equivalent.

While a physical Heaven has never been seen or found in the starry heavens, it

leaves many people asking "Where is Heaven?" The one source that tells us aboutHeaven in a factual way is the Holy Bible God's Divine Book. He gave it to usso that we could be sure of the things that we cannot see spiritual and eternal

things.

Because God wanted to give us real answers about our world, our existence andpurpose as well as our eternal destinations, He gave us His Bible. In it, He tells

us of both Heaven and Hell. There are many warnings about Hell, and, thankGod, there is also a clear map of how to get away from this very unpleasant

destination and how to go to Heaven.

While some people believe that it is improper to assume that anyone can be sureof going to Heaven, this is not at all what the Bible teaches. In fact, the Bible tells

us just the opposite we can know for sureand we need to know for sure.Our souls are eternal and so is our destination there is no room for guesswork.

The whole New Testament, and many passages in the Old Testament, clearly

point out that people who believed God knew that they had eternal life in Heaven.They were sure.

The first Book of the Bible to be written Job tells us that the man Job knew

that he was forgiven and going to Heaven after he died. Here is what we are toldin Job 19:25-27:

"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day

upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my

flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold,and not another; though my reins be consumed within me."

From these verses, we see that Job clearly understood that:

1. Job had a redeemer (Christ), meaning that he was well aware that heneeded to be redeemed, or forgiven. He was at one time condemned to

Hell, but his Redeemer had paid the price for his sin, and had actuallyforgiven and redeemed him from having to pay his own price in Hell.

2. His redeemer was alive at that time and He would still be alive at the lastdays on earth. This means Job knew that Christ lived forever and that Hewould come back to the earth.

3. He understood that the soul is immortal and lives on forever.4. After Job rises from the dead (belief in the resurrection), he knew that he

would see God. Job knew there would be life after death.

5. And, it is implied that when he sees God, that God will accept him andnot punish him for sin. He looked forward to seeing God not dreading it!

Why did he believe God would accept him because his Redeemer hadpaid the full debt for sin. There was nothing left for Job to pay!

Since Job lived many years before most of the Bible was written, it should not be

surprising to know that what he believed was not known only to him. Others hadthe same faith in God, too.
