Is God Concerned About How We
Take Care Of Our Bodies? Answered by: Shane Robinson
Someone once said, "Good health is something we take for granted—until we start to lose it."
God made our bodies to be used for His service. What we eat and drink is a part of how we give glory
to God (see 1 Cor. 10:31). How we take care of our bodies has a lot to do with how well we function.
Our mind, spiritual nature, and body are all interrelated and interdependent (3 Jn. 1:2). When one area
of our life is out of balance, all of our functions suffer (Ps. 127:2). 75% of health issues could be
prevented if we simply made the proper lifestyle choices.
Making the proper choices, 9 times out of 10, has to do with self-control. Practically speaking, if we
are unable to control our eating habits, we are probably unable to control other habits as well; habits
such as lust, covetousness, anger, gossip, and idolatry. We are not to let our appetites control us;
rather, we are to control them (2 Pet.1:5-7; 2 Cor. 10:5).
So, is God concerned about how we take care of our bodies? When it all boils down, we are talking
about stewardship and self-control. These are both areas God is
concerned with and we should be as well. God owns our body and
we are to take care of His gift. Giving glory to God with our body
includes what we “eat and drink.” As a matter of fact it includes
"whatever we do” (1 Cor. 10:31).
Creative Ideas On How
To Support M issions

Miss A Meal Method
In our fast paced and hectic
culture, it is quite common for
families to eat out on a regular
basis (the average family eats
out five times per week, twenty
times per month). For a typical
family of four a Sunday lunch
will cost between $28.00
(McDonalds burger, fries, drink
for four) and $50.00 (or more).
What if your family, and
perhaps a group of families,
committed to gathering at
home one Sunday per month
for a home cooked meal, with
the intentions of writing a
check, not to a restaurant, but
to a mission work, with the
money you saved? A few
families could easily send $50
to $200 a month in support, not
to mention eating healthier and
enjoying fellowship and
closeness by eating with
brethren in their homes.
Everybody wins! □

Word SearchLuke 2
His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” 49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” 50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. 51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
