    Abstract

The Global Knowledge can be broadly disassociated into two types: Indigenous and Modern. Indigenous or TraditionalKnowledge traits are scattered worldwide among the fol people. These are oral and undocumented! sub"ected for loss andredisco#ery! outcome of trial and error from informal e$perimentations during the course of fol life. These traits unite toform a nowledge system nown as the Indigenous Knowledge System %IKS&. IKS pro#ide us #arious 'ublic Ser#ices. This paper tries to establish the hypothesis that caste system in Indian Subcontinent is an important IKS.
