FOREWORD
This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by theFoodgrains and Foodgrain Industries Sectional Committee had been approved by the Food andAgriculture Division Council. .
Isabgol husk consists of the dry seed coats of the seeds of Plantogo OVQta Forsk. ( Fam. Plantaginaceal )and is obtained by crushing the seeds and separating the husks by winnowing.
A large quantity of isabgol husk is exported. This highlights the need for quality standards both forconsumer protection and as a guide to good manufacturing practices.,
While formulating this standard, assistance has beentaken from the Pharmacopoeia of India publishedby the Drugs Controllerate of India.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall berounded off in accordance with IS 2: 1960 'Rules for rounding ofT numerical values ( revised )'. Thenumber of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be same as that of the specifiedvalue in this standard.
