FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized bythe Pesticides Sectional Committee had been approved by the Pood and Agriculture DivisionCouncil.

Deltamethrin WP is largely used in the control of insect pests in public health and grainstorages.

Deltametbrin WP is generally manufactured to contain 2·5 percent ( mlm ) of deltamethrin.

In the preparation of this standard, due consideration has been given to the provisions of theInsecticides Act, 1968 and the Rules framed thereunder. However, this standard is subject tothe restrictions imposed under the Act and Rules, wherever applicable.

Por the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with,the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be roun­ded off in accordance with IS 2 : 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised )'. Thenumber of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of thespecified value in this standard.

3 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Constituents

3.1.1 The material shall consist of deltameth­rin, technical together with suitable carrier(s),stabilizer(s) and other formulant(s).

3.1.1 Deltamethrin, technical, employed in themanufacture of the material, shall conform toIS 12005 : 1987.

3.2 Description

The material shall be fine, free flowing, whitish,homogeneous powder, free from visible extran­eous matter and hard aggregates. It shall wetreadily on mixing with water, providing a sus­pension suitable for use as spray.

3.3 The material shall also comply with therequirements given in Table 1.

5 MARKING

4 PACKING

The material shall be packed in 300 g capacityLDPE bags of thickness not less than 0·062 mm,which then be packed in HMHDPE or mildsteel containers provided .with LDPE liners ofthickness not less than 0·062 mm.

The containers shall bear legibly and indeliblythe following information in addition to theinformation as is necessary under the Insectici­des Act, 1968 and Rules framed thereunder:

a) Name of the material;b) Indication of the source of manufacture;c) Date of manufacture and date of expiry;

d) Batch number;

e) Net mall of contents;f) Nominal deltamethrin content, percent

(mlm); andg) The cautionary notice worded as in Insec­

ticides Act, 1968 and Rules.

6 SAMPUNG

When a bulk quantity of the material is offeredfor inspection, representative samples of thematerial shall be drawn as prescribed in IS10627 : 1983 and tested within 90 days of itsmanufacturing. The criteria for conformityshall be as given in IS 10627 : 1983. However.

7 TESTS

7.1 Tests shall be carried out by the methodsreferred to in col 4 and 5 of Table 1 and 7.2.

7.2 SuspensiblUty Test

7.2.1 For carrying out suspensibility test, weighto the nearest one mg into a lOO-ml beaker 8·.amount of the treated sample to form 250 mJ ofsuspension to contain 0·05 Sll of deltamethrin

and proceed as described in 11.2.3.2 of IS6940 : 1982.

7.1.1 After conducting suspensibility test,transfer the bottom 25 ml of suspension andsediment quantitatively into a 50-mt volumetricflask, rinsing several times with acetonitrile.Dilute to the mark. Filter rapidly through a04 Gooch crucible to avoid any loss of solventor centrifuge. Take the extract for determina­tion of deltamethrin content as described inAnnex A of IS 12005 : 1987.

7.3 Qaality of Reagents

Unless specified otherwise, pure chemical. anddistilled water (lee IS 1070: 1977) shall beemployed in tests. ,
