IRVINE RELOCATION GUIDE2
MG2
We create transformative experiences for brands, destinations, buildings and most importantly, the people who enjoy them.
PEOPLE MAKE THE PLACEAt MG2, we dive in and dig deep. We enjoy what we do and the people we
do it with. We’re curious, empathetic and (mostly) ego-free. We push each
other to be even better, support each other when things get stressful and go
all out to help our clients achieve their goals.
Our culture is based on recognition and appreciation. So we celebrate
birthdays. And anniversaries. And every Friday, we get together for an all-
office breakfast buffet.
We design over-the-top, insanely detailed gingerbread houses, dominate
rec-league sports and know all the best happy hours around. Most
importantly, we take time to give back to our communities, together.
LIFE IN IRVINEMG2’s Irvine office is a quick drive to some of California’s most beautiful
beaches, including Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach.
Irvine consistently ranks as one of most livable and safest cities in the
country, and its public schools rank among the best in the state.
With more than 280 sunny days per year and an average annual temperature
of 64°F, there are ample opportunities to get outside and enjoy the splendor
of the city. And if you’re looking for a weekend getaway, Irvine is located an
hour south of Los Angeles and an hour and a half north of San Diego.

History
1821Claim to the San Joaquin Valley
passed from Spain to Mexico
and ultimately to the United
States. The land that would
become the city of Irvine was
divided among large ranches
supporting tens of thousands
of cattle and horses.1888 In 1888 the Santa Fe Railroad
placed the Irvine station nearby
the Irvine Company, and a town
slowly grew up around the
agricultural center.
1942Beginning in 1942, the land
devoted to ranching and
farming for 100+ years
began to diversify when
the Irvine Company sold
parcels of land to the U.S.
government for two Marine
Corps Air Stations. 1960 In 1960, the Irvine Company
sold the University of
California 1,000 acres for a
new Irvine campus (UCI) at
the hefty price of $1,
and Irvine’s modern history
was born.1970The Irvine Company
oversaw plans to transform
43 square miles of
undeveloped land near the
new UCI campus into a
master-planned community
for 50,000 people. 2018 While the city now supports
a thriving community of
more than 266,000, Irvine
will always be graced with
a special legacy of its
founding family.

SANTA ANA
Situated in the middle of Orange County along the Santa
Ana River, the city of Santa Ana is both the most populous
and the largest city in Orange County, covering 27.2
square miles. As of 2016, there were 334,215 people living
in the city. Named the county seat in 1889, Santa Ana is
also known as the financial and governmental center of
Orange County. It’s been in recent competition with its

commercial growth. Working over the years to revitalize
its downtown area, Santa Ana now features The Santa

ORANGE
The city of Orange was incorporated on April 6, 1888
under the general laws of the State of California. However,
Orange dates back to 1869 when Alfred Chapman and
Andrew Glassell, both lawyers, accepted 1,385 acres of
land from the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana as legal
fees. Soon thereafter, the men laid out a one-square mile
town with ten-acre farm plots surrounding a forty-acre
central town site. The center of the town site became
known as the Plaza, which has become the symbol of
the community. Today, the Plaza and the majority of the
original one-square mile town site, contain many homes
and buildings dating to the early days of the city; the site
is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.

TUSTIN
People who know this area well sometimes refer to Tustin
as “The City of the Trees.” Although a variety of trees are
responsible for this nickname, this is a distinctive quality
of the area which dates back centuries, to the time of the
early Spanish explorers. Tustin is located in central Orange
County and encompasses an area of 11.08 square miles.
The city continues to be a discernible entity, characterized
physically by its strategic crossroads location and the
hillside areas, which offer sweeping panoramic views
of the Pacific Coast and Saddleback Mountains, prime
commercial, industrial and residential development along
with one of the oldest historical “old towns” in Orange
County. MORE INFO >>

LAGUNA HILLS
Orange County was home to two tribes of Native
Americans. The Tongva (also known as the Gabrillino
Indians) lived in the flat lands north of Los Alisos Creek
and the Acjachmen (also known as the Juaneno due to
their proximity to Mission San Juan Capistrano) lived in
the coastal area, foothills and the mountains south of Los
Alison Creek. They harvested acorns, gathered grasses
and fruits, hunted on land and fished in the sea. They also
wove fine baskets and were part of a flourishing trade
network that stretched from the Channel Islands to the
Colorado River. MORE INFO >>
