Several customers rely on
Larox solutions for their
most demanding proces-
ses. Larox valves and
pumps have proven their
superior quality, reli-
ability, excellent wear
resistance and anti-
jamming properties in
these processes. Also
hundreds of iron ore
processing facilities have
chosen Larox for their
most demanding applica-
tions.
From iron ore
concentration...
Larox valves and pumps are
perfect for various duties
ranging from grinding and
filtration to flocculent dosing
and thickener underflow in iron
ore concentration including
• Grinding/Screening
• Hydrocyclone Separation
• Magnetic Separation
• Flotation
• Thickening
• Filtration
• Tailings
• Additional systems such as
sampling, dosing and water treatment
...to pelletisation
Larox valves and pumps
operate reliably and trouble free
in the most demanding iron
applications. Typical applica-
tions in pelletisation are
• Slurry mixing
• Slurry feed to pelletiser • Coating
• Floor washing
Larox manual and automatic
pinch valves excel in solutions
where shut-off or control
applications involve abrasive or
corrosive slurries, powders or
coarse substances. The
number of design variations
is virtually unlimited as the
modular structure of Larox
valves enables the selection of
any actuator, valve body cons-
truction and sleeve material to
fit specific process conditions.
Larox knife gate and rotary disc
valves are engineered to be
used in shut/off applications
involving abrasive or corrosive
slurries, powders or coarse
substances. Also our slurry non
return range can be used for
automatic isolation or change
over of slurry lines.
Larox peristaltic and progressive
cavity pumps are applicable to
a wide range of applications
and they suit extremely well for
processes involving industrialpumping, dosing and metering
of abrasive, corrosive and other
demanding media.

complicates the function of
metal valves. The construction
of the Larox valve ensures that
the valve closes tightly even if
coarse particles remain bet-
ween the closing device. In the
open position, the valve is
actually a part of the pipeline.
Larox valves have remarkably
better wear resistance than
metal or ceramic valves. As the
sleeve is the only part in contact
with the medium, Larox valves
help to bring maintenance costs
down to the bare minimum.
Larox peristaltic and progressive
cavity pumps incorporate an
advanced design, which
eliminates friction, minimizes
wear and lowers energy
consumption. Designed for
heavy industrial duties, the
Larox pumps are capable of
handling the most abrasive and
aggressive slurries with high
solid content in iron ore
processing. Larox pumps are
also ideal for dosing and
accurate metering of diverse
slurries and wide range of other
media.
Multiple benefits
Larox valve is an excellent
choice for applications where
extreme abrasion and scaling
are present. In iron ore proces-
sing, the flowing medium is
typically very abrasive and

Larox valve success at LKAB
At LKAB in northern Sweden, Kiruna,
Jällivara and Svappavaara area, more
than 1800 Larox valves are in operation.
LKAB is an international high-tech minerals
group, one of the world's leading producers
of upgraded iron ore products for the steel
industry and a growing supplier of industrial
minerals products to other sectors. Since
beginning of its operation LKAB has invested
remarkably in the development of the equip-
ment and production, and only the highesttechnology is accepted at the LKAB mines.
Proven wear resistance
Larox valves were initially chosen at LKAB,
because of high wear resistance, easy
maintenance, simple and reliable construction,
and absorption of vibration. The first Larox
valves were delivered in 1992 and since then
hundreds of conventional valves have been
replaced by Larox valves.
During the years Larox valves have proven to
be extremely reliable, trouble-free and to be
an extremely low cost solution in aggressive
and abrasive conditions. Since 1992 the
positive experiences have resulted in the
selection of Larox Flowsys as one of the main
valve and pump suppliers.
Valves with different actuators
The valve actuators are chosen according to
the needs of every application. Under one of
the main thickeners, twenty pneumatically
operated valves are connected to a dedicated
air supply tank. This arrangement ensures
that the valves can be closed even in a case
of a disturbance in the normal air supply.
At the pelletising plant, the main feed line
valves for large pressure filters were also
delivered by Larox. These are hydraulically
actuated 200 mm, PVE 200 H16 valves feeding

Larox pinch valves were chosen in 2008when Gulf Industrial Investment Company
(GIIC) was commissioning their second iron
ore pelletising plant in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Larox pneumatically actuated PVE 100 – 150
mm valves are operating in pellet coating and
iron ore slurry lines as well as in various side
applications. The GIIC plant provides the
highest quality pellets to markets all over the
world.
GIIC values a valve supplier that is committedto working with them during the entire life
cycle of the process plant. Among other things,
this requires reliable spare part supply from
a local stock delivered by a valve professional
such as Larox Flowsys.
Often large engineering and OEM suppliers
make compromises with valves and other
process instruments as this kind of equipment
does not belong to their core experience.
The global experienced contractors of GIIC
were in this project able to take advantage of
Larox Flowsys’ core knowledge, and the best
flow control solution was built in cooperation.
To ensure trouble-free and reliable operation
of the equipment after commissioning, Larox
Flowsys’ OEM & Projects Department works
closely with leading mining equipment and
engineering suppliers for the benefit of the
end customer.
