Lesson Plan Title: EXPLORING COMMUNITY AND SELF

Interesting facts about Ireland

All teachers in the Republic must pass an oral examination in Irish in order to be able to teach. The Ceard Teastas is a requirement for teachers in all subjects and not just those teaching Irish.

The Republic of ireland has no nuclear power. The country's electricity stations are mostly peat burning, turf (peat) being found in large quantities in the Irish midlands, and parts of the north-west. Dublin has one oil burning power station, using imported oil.

Lesson 4 Learning Objective To enhance understanding and

awareness of how people may experience a sense of conflict between different aspects of their identity.

Creative expression and ability to describe conflicts regarding their identity visually

Lesson 4 Activity

The teacher projects a series of statements onto the board and pupils get up and stand near one of three posters on the walls stating Agree, Disagree or Unsure in response to each one.

The teacher encourages them to discuss types of personal identity

chosen and the rest of the class guesses which person they are describing themselves to.
