Born 30 April 1928 inWinterthur, Switzerland, he studiedGerman and English at Zurich University, where hereceived his doctorate.1950-1956, he is science editor with theWeltwoche, Zurich.Since 1956, he is free-lance publicist with science reportage and aerial photography as his special areas.Hemade extended travels throughout theworld, including Antarctica.For three decades aerial photographs byGerster on Swissair poster andwall calendars shaped the visualidentity of the airline.Gerster hasmade regular contributions to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and international press magazines.He lives in Zürich.
