    Control Panel The control panel consists o the touch panel display, physical keys or various operations, numeric keys, andindicators.

    Touch Panel DisplayDisplays the menu screen or each unction and the SystemMonitor screen.

    COPY keyPress to switch to the top screen o the Copy unction.

    SEND keyPress to switch to the top screen o the Send and Fax

    unctions.

    SCAN/PRINT keyPress to use unctions such as Remote Scan, Media Print,Secure Printing, etc.

    Numeric keysPress to enter numbers.

    Clear keyPress to clear entered numbers or characters.

    ID (Log In/Out) keyPress to log in to/out o the machine, such as when it ismanaged with Department ID/User ID Management.

    Control panel power switch (Sub power supply)Press to clear or enter the Sleep mode.

    I no messages or menu are displayed on the touchpanel display with the Main Power Indicator lightingup, the machine is in the Sleep mode.

    Press [System Monitor] to view the job status or cancel jobs. Youcan also check the machine status such as the amount o remaining paper.

    Making a Copy This section describes the basic operation procedure or copying originals.

    Display the Copy Screen Place Your Originals Speci y the Number o Copies Start Copying

    Press (COPY) to display the top screeno the Copy unction.

    Place your originals in the eeder or on theplaten glass.

    Enter the desired number o copies(1 to 999) using (numerickeys).

    Press (Start).

    Close the eeder/platen cover a ter placing your originals onthe platen glass.

    To change the value you have entered, press (Clear) enter the correct value.

    The number o copies you speci y is displayed on the upperright side o the touch panel display.

    When the screen below appears, select the original size press [OK] (Start).

    To cancel copying, press (Stop). You can also cancel thecurrent copy job by pressing [Cancel] on the screenindicating the copy processing status. *

    I the machine is in the Sleep mode, press (Power).

    You can copy two-sided originals or multiple one-sided originals onboth sides o the paper.

    The 2 > 2-Sided and 2 > 1-Sided mode are available only when the machine is equippedwith the feeder (optional for the imageRUNNER 2545/2535/2530/2525/2520).

    Press [2-Sided] select the 2-Sided mode you want touse press [OK] as indicated on the touch paneldisplay.

    For The Book > 2-Sided mode, you will be asked to select the type o original.

    Copying on Both Sides o the Paper

    You can set the machine to staple the collated copies on the speci ed position.

    The Staple mode is available only when the optional Inner Finisher-B1 is attached to the machine.

    Press [Finishing] [Staple] [Next] select the staple type and position press [OK] as indicated on the touch panel display.

    Stapling Collated Copies

    You can set the machine to output the copies in sets arranged inpage order.

    Press [Finishing] [Collate] [OK] as indicated onthe touch panel display.

    Making Copies in Sets Arranged in Page Order

    You can set the machine to output the copies in groups o individualpages.

    Press [Finishing] [Group] [OK] as indicated on thetouch panel display.

    When per orming Collate or Group copying, you can select either Rotateor O seta s the output orientation.

    It is possible to combine the output orientation and the Collate or Group modes, such as Collate + Rotate, Group +O set, etc.

    Rotate O set

    Each printout group is output in alternating orientations.(Not available when the optional Inner Finisher-B1 is attachedto the machine.)

    Each printout group is output with the same orientation, butstaggered and alternating layers. (Available when the optionalInner Finisher-B1 is attached to the machine.)

    Press [Rotate] [Next] select the paper source press [OK] to use theRotate mode.

    Press [Ofset] [OK] touse the Ofset mode.

    This section describes the operation procedures or the Copy modes you can access rom the [SpecialFeatures] key on the top screen o the Copy unction.

    Advanced Copying Functions

    You can copy multiple originals o di erent sizes at the same time when using the eeder.

    The Diferent Size Originals mode is available only when the machine is equipped with the eeder (optionalor the imageRUNNER 2545/2535/2530/2525/2520).

    Press [Di erent Size Originals] [Done] as indicated on the touch paneldisplay.

    You can copy both sides o an ID card on one side o paper at actual size.

    Press [ID Card Copy] select the layout type press [Next] select the paper source press [OK] [Done] asindicated on the touch panel display.

    You can reduce two or our original images to t on one sheet o paper.

    Press [Sharpness] [Low] or [High] to adjust thesharpness level [OK] [Done] as indicated on thetouch panel display.

    You can store the possible combinations o the copy settings to recall when you makea copy with the setting combination.

    Storing and Recalling Frequently Used Settings

    You can adjust the sharpness level. To make the text or lines sharper,increase the sharpness level. To make the hal tone images so ter,decrease the sharpness level.

    Adjusting the Sharpness o Copied Images

    To store the setting combination:First make a combination o the copy settings you want to store.Press [Mode Memory] [Store/Erase] select [Store] select the memory key which you wantto store the setting in press [Next]. Con rm the setting and press [Yes] [OK] [Done] asindicated on the touch panel display.

    To recall the setting combination rom the memory:Press [Mode Memory] select the memory key containing the settings you want to recall press [OK] [Done].

    You can erase shadows and lines that may appear on the copy. Select theerase mode depending on the type or condition o the original.

    Press [Frame Erase] select the mode you want to use press [Next] select the original size press [Next] speci ythe erase width(s) press [OK] [Done] as indicated on thetouch panel display.

    For the Binding Erase mode, select the side o the original on which to erase the shadow,instead o selecting the original size.

    The printer driver screens shown below may difer rom the ones displayed on your computer,depending on the machine and optional equipment, type and version o printer driver, oroperating system you are using.

    Secure Printing

    On the printer driver screen, you can select Secure Printing as the output method when printing your documents.Secure Printing enables you to hold your print jobs until the appropriate password assigned on the printer driveris entered at the machine. This way, con dential documents are not le t lying on the machines output tray.

    Mac PrinterDriver Guide

    The operation procedure in this section is or a Windows computer. For instructions on how to print rom a Macintoshcomputer, see the Mac Printer Driver Guide.

    Printing rom a Computer This section describes the basic operation procedure or printing a document rom a computer.

    Open the [Print] Dialog Box Select the Printer Speci y the Print Settings Start Printing

    In the application you open thedocument to print rom, click the [File]menu select [Print].

    In the [Print] dialog box, select your printer click [Properties] *.

    In each sheet o the printer setting dialogbox, speci y the print settings that suit yourpre erences click [OK].

    Speci y the number o prints and pages toprint as necessary click [OK].*

    * The name o the button to display the printer setting sheetshown on step 3 may vary depending on the application youare using.

    ** The name o the button to start printing may vary dependingon the application you are using.

    Printer Driver

    The printer driver installed on your computer enables the machine to printthe documents rom the applications on your computer. The printer driveralso enables you to speci y the various print settings such as paper size and

    nishing style.

    For more in ormation on the printer driver settings, see p. 19 and p. 20.

    For more in ormation on the print settings, see p. 19 and p. 20.On this screen, you can speci y the number o prints, andpages to print. I you need no detailed settings, click [OK] ** to start printing.

    To cancel printing on your computer, click [Cancel] in thedialog box that appears when the print data is beingprocessed.

    To cancel printing on the machines control panel, use theSystem Monitor screen displayed by pressing (Stop) or[System Monitor]. **

    The dialog boxes or print settings shown in steps 2 and 4 mayvary depending on the application you are using.

    This section describes the instructions on how to speci y printer driver settings, such as the nishing style andprint quality.

    Speci ying the Printer Driver Settings The screen shots and the descriptions are or the Windows printer driver. For instructions on how to con gure the settings

    on the Macintosh printer driver, see the Mac Printer Driver Guide or the help on the printer driver. The printer driver screens shown below may difer rom the ones displayed on your computer, depending on the machine

    and optional equipment, type and version o printer driver, or operating system you are using.

    1 Print StyleEnables you to select the print style such as 1-sided or 2-sided Printing.

    2 Binding LocationEnables you to select the binding location such as Long Edge (Le t) or Short Edge(Top).

    3 FinishingEnables you to select the nishing style such as Collate or Group.

    1 Pro leEnables you to set the printer driver simply by selecting it rom the list. Printerdriver settings or di erent purposes are registered.

    2 Page SizeEnables you to select the size o the document you have created in an application.

    3 Output SizeEnables you to select the size o the paper to print on.

    4 Page LayoutEnables you to print multiple pages onto one sheet o paper, or in other multiplelayouts.

    When a screen indicating the USB memory media device hasbeen inserted appears, press [Done] and proceed to the nextstep.

    I the machine is in the Sleep mode, press (Power).

    Enter your ID and password or insert the control card i thescreen prompts you to do so. For more in ormation on

    This section describes the basic operation procedure or sending a document. To use the Send unction with the imageRUNNER 2545/2535/2530/2525/2520, the unction mustbe activated with the optional Color Send K it-Y1.

    Send and Fax Functions

    Select the desired destination press [OK].

    Press [Address Book].

    [Address Book], [One-touch Buttons], and [Favorites Buttons] enable you to streamline and customize the proceduresor speci ying destinations. These unctions enable you to register recipient destinations so that you can send

    documents by pressing only a ew keys.

    The destinations you can speci y may vary, depending on the settings o Authorized Send.See Chapter 4, Customizing Settings,in the Remote UI Guide.

    Speci ying Destinations Easily and Quickly

    1 Select [1 Be ore], [2 Be ore], or[3 Be ore]. 2Con rm the settings press[OK].

    1Select the desired le ormat. You cannot select the le ormat

    when sending I- axes or axes.2

    I you want to separatemultiple images and sendthem as separate les, press[Divide into Pages] [Done].

    Press [Recall].

    The Recall unction enables you to send a document using any o the last three addresses, scan settings, and sendsettings that were used.

    Recalling the Most Recent Settings

    Press [File Format].

    You can send documents in a variety o le ormats, including TIFF, PDF, and JPEG. This gives you the reedom to senddocuments in a manner that is suited to the purpose o the document, as well as the recipients document handlingenvironment. Scanned original images are converted to the speci ed le ormat and sent via e-mail or to a le serveror USB memory media device.

    In addition to standard TIFF, PDF, and JPEG le ormats, the machine also supports PDF (Compact) and PDF (OCR)les.

    PDF (Compact) les are archived with a higher compression ratio than normal PDF. The resulting le data size is smaller than normalPDF, and there ore recommended or jobs that are to be sent over the network.

    PDF (OCR) les per orm OCR (Optical Character Recognition) on scanned documents to create a PDF with searchable text.

    PDF (OCR) is available only when the OCR unction is activated with the optional Color Send Searchable PDF Kit-C1.

    You can set the machine to automatically orward the received I- ax/ ax documents to any desired destination. I areceived document matches the orwarding conditions you set, it is or warded to the destination. You can also speci ya orwarding destination or received documents that do not match the orwarding conditions.

    This section describes the basic operation procedure or accessing the machine rom a computer by using theRemote UI.

    The Remote UI (Remote User Inter ace) is so tware built into the machine that enables users to access machine unctions and settingsrom a web browser on a computer. Some examples o what you can do on the Remote UI include:

    Checking the machine status such as paper or toner amountChecking the job statusRegistering or editing the addresses. *

    * The Address Book can be protected by a password.

    I you log in to the Remote UI as the System Manager, you can use urther unctions such as setting Department ID/User Managementand customizing the various machine settings.

    What is the Remote UI?

    A ter success ully logging in, the Device Status page isdisplayed. Go to other pages as necessary by using themenu on the le t side o the page.

    Start Your Web Browser

    Start your web browser enter the IP address * o the machine into the Web browser on yourcomputer to access the Remote UI press[ENTER] key on your computer keyboard.

    Customizing the Machine Settings

    The Additional Functions screen is displayed by pressing (Additional Functions) on the machines controlpanel. From this screen, you can change and customize the machines various settings. When these settingsare changed or speci ed, they are saved as de ault settings and remain in e ect until they are changed again.

    From the Additional Functions screen, you can customize the machine settings to suit your needs.
