Activities reflecting goals and objectives for the year: 2010-11.

Prof. Tejaraj Aminbhavi, Scientific Advisor to Dhirubhai Ambani Life Science Center,

Reliance Group of Industries, Mumbai delivered a lecture on “Polymers have key role in 21st

century” on 26th August 2010.

Dr. Melkote Rangaswamy, consultant, University of Indianapolis USA delivered a

lecture on “America through the years: My Perspective “under Diamond Jubilee lecture

series Programme on 2nd September 2010.

Shree Siddapa Kambli birth celebration was conducted on 11th September 2010 at

9.00am.

50 SD boys, 2 SW girl cadets participated in CATC Camp held at UAS, Dharwad from

19-29th September, 2010. Lt. Dr. M. David was Adjutant of the Camp. All SD and SW

cadets stood first in firing and also bagged championships.

On 16th October, 2010 Dr. B.C. Mogali Rtd. Professor of the Department of Criminology

of Karnatak Science College gave a lecture on “Awareness on Victimization of crime”.

Principal, K. Sc College, Dharwad presided over the function.

On 6th November 2010, the NCC company organized a Blood Donation Day. Dr. Prabhu

Biradar and team from Civil hospital participated and delivered a note about blood grouping

and blood donation. 40 units of the blood was collected in the camp.

NSS unit organized a special lecturer on 13th Nov 2010, Shree Satish Parvatikar,

Executive officer, All India Radio, Dharwad delivered the lecture. Dr. A. A. Hooli,

Principal, K. Sc Dharwad presided over the function.

Prof. V.G. Pangarkar Emeritus Professor, Institute of Chemical Technology (UDCT)

Mumbai delivered a special lecture on “How to promote the creativity” on 2nd February,

2011. Dr A.A. Hooli graced the function.

Prof. Ranganath Bhradwaj delivered a special lecture on “Structural Methods” on 7th

February, 2011.

The Karnatak University Inter First Zone Foot Ball Tournament was held at Karnataka

Science College from 05th-06th March 2011.

a). International Women’s Day marking the century was celebrated jointly by both the

Science and Arts Colleges on 8th March, 2011. The Chief Guest Dr. Ujvalla Hiremath

addressed the young woman.

b). The International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Department of Computer

Science. Dr. (Smt) Doris M Singh delivered a lecture on Understanding women issues.

Principal, K.Sc.C.D presided over the function.

c). The Wipro campus interview was inaugurated by Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. H. B.

Walikar. He delivered a lecture on ‘Future Attitude in Excellance’. Dr. A.A> Hooli, Principal, K.

SC College, Dharwad presided over the function. 237 students from 25 colleges of KUD

participated in this SELECTION PROCESS DRIVE –II. 71 students wewre selected out of which,

20 were from Karnatak Science College, Dharwad.

d). A one day workshop on ‘Revision/Restructure of UG syllabus in Chemistry’ was conducted on

18th March, 2011. Prof. S. T. Nandibewoor addressed at the gathering at the Chemistry Department.

e). International year of chemistry was inaugurated by Prof. S. Y Ambekar, Rtd Professor of

Organic Chemistry. Mysore University, Mysore on 22nd March, 2011 at the Chemistry Department.

f). An exhibition of instruments to bring out positive and creative talents of the students was

conducted by Department of Physics on 24-04-2011.

g). Two day workshop was organized for B.Sc. VI semester students on 25th and 26th April, 2011.

Professional from Vidyaposhak delivered special lecture on “Personality Development and

Interview Techniques’.

h). A blood donation camp was organized in collaboration of Karntak Arts College Dharwad on 3rd

May, 2011. 35 students donated the blood.

i). Successfully completed the new extension of Botany department in May 2011.

j). Dr. C. G. Patil and his research students were successful in developing SCAR marker, a

male marker; associated with sexual differentiation of Staminate Flower development –

Simarouba glauca MSSMS SCAR marker genomic sequence.
