Dear Mr. Geary,
Thank you for your letter regarding the reception of WEGM on February 5, 1997. Your
description of our programming that evening is accurate. This letter can serve as confirmation
of your reception of WEGM.
Assuming the board operator at that time of day (the station owner) lowered the
transmitter to night power, WEGM was operating at 500 watts, omnidirectional. It is possible
that the operator had not yet lowered power from our daytime output of 1000 watts. Either
way, I am impressed that you could receive the station as far west as you are. We have
received long distance reception reports before, but they are usually to the north or east. Our
most distant reception report so far is from Scotland.
WEGM went on the air on May 31, 1996 with a new 204 ft Pyrod antenna located in
the Quonset Point-Davisville Industrial Park in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. WEGM is the
reincarnation of WKFD, Wickford, Rhode Island which had been silent since 1990. Wickford
is a village within the Town of North Kingstown. WKFD, which went on the air in 1961, was
silenced when its 30 year old tower fell into Wickford Cove in August 1990. The current
owners of the station waged a six year battle through bankruptcy court to get the station and
put it back on the air.
WEGM uses Westwood One's Adult Standards format 24 hours a day, with the
exception of local programming, primarily on weekends. This format is delivered digitally to
us by satellite along with Mutual News. Much of our equipment, including the 1978 Harris
transmitter, is from WKFD and is performing very well considering the age of some of it.
Tnank you for your letter and your interest in WEGM. Happy listening!
Sincerely,
Keith L. Fornai

Thank you for your reception report. I was amazed at not so much
the fact that you were able to receive us, but at your location. We are owned
by TMZ Broadcasting, which is a subsidiary of Telemedia Broadcasting Company.
You may be familiar with WEST-AM/WLEV-FM in Easton, PA. They're also owned by
Telemedia Broadcasting under the name of Telemedia Broadcasting Company of
Lehigh Valley. So, we have something in common.
Regarding your reception report, I checked program and music logs
and they're pretty much right on target with one exception: on Saturday mornings
we're automated with no live announcers, so there was no time check at 6:19AM,
in accordance with our records and operation.
We're glad that you received us and that you took the time to
contact us, Mr. Geary. And we hope that you'll continue to enjoy listening
to WLKW, such as the distance and conditions are.

Dear Kermit, This letter is to acknowledge your letter of hearing WARV 1590
KH on Dec 23 1991 . As requested by J. D. Stephens , I put the trans-
mitter on at 3:25AM. I played the Morse code followed by a legal ID
about twenty times, made a number of anouncements about the test,
played Moody programs off the sattellite receiver, read a partial listing of our programs, and read the Christmas story from LUKE 2:1- 18 and MATTHEW 1:18-25, signed off at about 4:40AM.
This running the program was a first for me. In all the years (15) I have been CE
, I never spoke on it. The transmitter ( 1KW )
was relocated 1977. We are now 5KW-DA2 using a 5KW RCA 5BT transmit- ter. The antenna is three towers 190'inline on 288 degrees. The transmitter and phasor came from WTAR in Va. The night pattern puts almost no power to the west-southwest. Thats why a day pattern is
used to let out more power our area cities. I used the day pattern for the test. To the west south-west it would look like a 500 watt signal.
I received three telephone calls , first was Bill Bouroughs,
second was lost as there was a loose connection on the telephone, third was Jim Pogue.
It has been a privilege to work with you.

Dear Kermit:
Thank you for your recent letter and tape. We were pleased to
receive your information.
The basic content of your reception information was correct. The tape you sent was definitely of WARY.
WARV operates 6AM to Midnight using two different directional patterns at 5,000 watts. The major lobe of our signal is directed East.
Incidently, we have received reception letters, such as yours from South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, New Jersey and various other parts.
Again, thank you for "listening."

Dear Mr. Geary, After discovering your letter this week I
wanted to be sure that we responded to your request for confirmation of your 'DX' report. My name is Rob Michaels and I am the program and station manager at WALE.
You did hear WALE and we are on 990 -AM. We are a 50,000 watt daytime and 1,000 watt night directional station. Our broadcast hours at this time are 5am to 12am, seven days a week. We just installed a brand new Nautel solid state transmitter.
I would appreciate any report you can send if you do pick us up again. At this time of the year it just might be possible for you to tune us in.
I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit our studios and offices if your ever in the Providence area.
Thanks again for your letter. I'm sorry I took so long to answer.

I'm happy to verify your correct (and excellent) report
of the 7J1JJ test on 29 December 1980. The test was
conducted using 5000 watts non -directional.
As of today, 15 people have requested verifications for
the test. Not a large turnout as most tests I've done
have pulled 30-40 requests. It appears that conditions
were poor to the far west. It's a shame, as that was
the aim of the test.
Again, thanks for the great report.

Dear Mr. Glary,
We were very glad to hear from you on our DXer pro- gram of November fourth. We do verify your reception of this special broadcast as being accurate.
The response in general was very gratifying inasmuch as another carrier on our frequency hurt the reception in some areas.
We eperate with a 353-E Western Electric transmitter and a Ealf--way vertical antenna with circular pattern. Our equipment is of 1932 vintage and unlike rare wine, does not improve with age; however, in the not too dis- tant future, we're in hopes of new equipment and an in- crease in power. At that time weld be very happy to try another DXer program.

on the morning of Feb. 19, 1976. Your report was most complete, and very interesting,. I must comend you on your exceptional receiving system, it
really must do a very good job for you. This letter confirms your reception of WKFD on Feb. 19, 1976.
We use a Raytheon RA -1000 transmitter with a power output of 500(five hundred) watts, feeding aseries excited tower (112ft) in a salt water basin in Narragansett Bay.
Again, thank you for the very complete report. I ap glad I was able to give DXers a chance to hear the station, and hope to heat from you when I run the test this week from WPEP. I see that you use a HQ -180. I use a HQ -170A in my hobby Amateur Radio, and find it to do a excellent job. Again, good luck in DX hunting.
Sincerly,
GC

Dear Mr. Geary:
This letter is to verify your correct report of WLKW.
WLKW operates daytime only with a power of 50,000 watts. A directional antenna is used with the major lobe aimed to the south-east over the City of Providence.
An RCA Ampliphase is used as the main transmitter with a
five kilowatt RCA as the standby.
Thank you for your report and good luck with your future DXing.
