IPGate® MG50Legacy Transport over IP/MPLS
Key Features and Functions The IPGate MG50 offers features that reliably transport legacy Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and other circuit-based applications over IP/Ethernet or MPLS/VLAN packet switched networks. Using Circuit Emulation Services over Packet (CESoP) and Structure Agnostic TDM over Packet (SAToP) standards, the IPGate supports a wide variety of legacy analog and digital interfaces at configurable data rates ranging from 50 bps to 52 Mbps. It lets customers easily and reliably take advantage of converged IP/MPLS networks to transport legacy circuits.
Specific to the IPGate family is a Gigabit Ethernet backplane and distributed architecture which makes the IPGate a future-proof investment with a virtually unlimited variety of supported interfaces.
The IPGate MG50 offers high density female user network interface (UNI) connectors which enable it to pack more ports into a compact chassis.

Features
Virtual Matrix• The IPGate family provides many more interconnect
possibilities than traditional “tunneling” units which are basically an IP/MPLS pipeline connection between two devices.
• The IPGate unit’s distributed architecture allows any-to-any connectivity between ports and devices enabling a user to create a “Virtual Matrix”.
T1 Multiplexing• The IPGate units handle T1/E1 multiplexing via a T1/E1 port
card in the chassis. • Connections are made from low-speed WAN or audio cards in
the chassis to this T1/E1 card.
Management• IntelView™, a JAVA®-based graphical user interface, is utilized
for system management. • The IPGate supports SNMP v1, v2, and v3.• Any element failure in the chassis will trigger an SNMP trap
which will be reported to the IntelView NMS.

ApplicationsEverything over IPIPGate MG50 provides legacy TDM to IP convergence over an IP/MPLS or VLAN transport. The MG50 platform is designed to assure delivery of mission critical legacy services by providing optional redundancy of controller cards, power supplies and “self-healing” port cards. Port mirroring and monitoring are also supported in the platform design.
Power Supply Redundancy
The IPGate MG50 standard chassis configuration comes with one power supply module/sled. For redundancy, an optional secondary power module/sled is offered. In a redundant configuration, the power modules share the load. Should one power module fail the other module automatically assumes the entire load ensuring that the unit remains fully operational.
Network Interface Redundancy
The IPGate MG50 supports full network redundancy through the addition of a second network controller. Should the primary controller fail, the standby controller will automatically assume control. This process is seamless without any user intervention and is “hitless” to the network.

Survivability and RedundancyNetworked IPGates enable any IPGate port to connect to any IPGate port no matter the location with or without interface conversion. Using dual domain transmission across the network, the IPGate ensures complete survivability and redundancy.
Remote Radio Access and ControlIPGate provides users with the ability to remotely access and control plain or encrypted radios over and IP network. Control is enabled through the radio’s serial control interface.
Long Haul Secure Communications (LHSC)The IPGate LHSC card routes voice communications (secure or plain) from an operator’s encryption device to a remotely located radio via satellite, land line, or a local base’s standards-based IP network. The IPGate with LHSC units are used in pairs, one located next to the operator with the other near the radio.

Legacy User Network InterfacesPort cards are slot independent and are hot swappable for ease of maintenance. Interface adapter cables convert standard HDB26 connectors to the physical connector required for each interface type.
All IPGate user port cards have built in LEDs for monitoring processor, network A or B, and network A/B link status. In addition, there are 8 LEDs whose functions vary by interface.
