Statistical Results 2014 YTD Population: 74,133 (2013)1
Five year average annual growth: + 0.8%
Seventh consecutive year of population growth, with the population growing 0.3% between 2012 and 2013.
Employment: 52,300 (Year-to-date)
Five year average annual growth (2009-2013): + 2.1%
The city added 3,000 new jobs between January-August 2014, with employment growth of 6.0% year-to-date. The city added more jobs in the first 8 months than in last 3 years. Year-to-date average unemployment rate in Prince George is 5.4%. During August, the unemployment rate fell to 4.6%, lowest during the year.
Business Location Counts: 6,221 (2013)
Five year average annual growth (2009-2013): +0.74%
In 2013 business locations went up from 5,951 in 2012 to 6,221 in 2013, an increase of 4.5%. The positive growth in 2013 is greater than the combined growth during last 4 years.
Building Permits: $96.5 million (Year-to-date)
Five year average annual growth 2009-2013: + 9.1%
Year-to-date the value of permits for alteration and expansion for industrial and commercial buildings grew by 700% and 50% respectively. Year-to-date the value of building permits increased by 5.6% compared to 2013.
Average House Price: $275,353
Five year annual growth (2009-2013): + 1.5%
The average home price rose from $259,962 in 2013 to $275,353 in 2014(August), an increase of 5.9%.
Passengers, Prince George International Airport (YXS): YTD - 290,243 Five year average annual growth (2009-2013): + 0.5%
Prince George International Airport is set to record all-time high record in 2014 surpassing their previous record (426,709) of passengers travelled through the airport in 2013.
