IPEX® 2012 & IDEAL HOME SHOW

IPEX ® 2012 & Ideal Homes Show was officially

launched on 5th April 2012 by Y.Bhg Datuk Abidin

Madingkir, Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City Hall.

The event attracted more than 30,000 visitors over the

4-days period. A total of 47 exhibitors comprising

building suppliers, housing developers and ID products

sectors participated.

Besides the impressive booth display, other sub-events

were organized to add value and excitement to the

show:

� City Kids Colouring & Drawing Competition

[sponsor by City Top Enterprise Sdn bhd]

� IPEX Duo Personality Contest & Fashion Show

The ceremony closed with ”Thank You Dinner” held on

Monday, 9th April 2012 at the ball room of Ming Garden

Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. At the dinner was the

presentation of the Best Decorated Booth Award to

WSG Development Sdn Bhd and Goodrich Global (EM)

Sdn bhd as winner in the supplier and developer

category, while 1st runner-ups went to Riverson

Corporation Sdn Bhd and ICI Paint (M) Sdn Bhd for the

respective category.

The Chapter records vote of thanks to Ar. Rizal Ahmad

Banjar and his dedicated and committed organizing

crew that had worked tirelessly on the event.

DIALOGUE WITH JABATAN BOMBA (8.3.12)

The Chapter, ACEM and IEM had held a dialogue with

Jabatan Bomba on 8th March, 2012. The dialogue

focused on issues faced by both the Jabatan Bomba

and the consultants in terms of submission of drawings

for approval.

The Chapter had made a courtesy call to the General

Manager of Sabah State Railway Department, Hj.

Mohd. Zain Hj. Mohd Said on 10 February 2012.

COURTESY CALL TO DATUK MAYOR OF KOTA

KINABALU CITY HALL (25.1.12)

The Chapter had made a courtesy visit to the Datuk

Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City and submitted the

recommendation and comments made on the Draft

Kota Kinabalu Local Plan on 25 January, 2012.

The draft KK Local Plan 2020 prepared by DBKK with the

assistance of the local planning firm, AIA Consortium

Consultancy Services was opened to the public to

study and make submissions on 23rd September, 2011.

The new local plans will replace the current plans which

have been in use for the past 25 years.

DIALOGUE SESSION WITH PAM PRESIDENT (12.1.12)

A dialogue session was held with President Ar. Saifuddin

Ahmad on 12.1.12 at the Chapter’s premises.

YOUR FLOORING NEEDS (18.2.12) Seminar on resinous flooring solutions sponsored by Flow

Crete Asia Sdn Bhd was held on 18 February 2012.

LAUNCHING OF NEW BOOK BY PAM SABAH

CHAPTER (12.1.12)

YB Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Tourism, Culture

and Environment officiated the launching of the new

book by the Chapter entitled “Colonial Townships In

Sabah: West Coast” on 12.1.12. The event was also

graced by PAM President. The book was sponsored by

Colourcoil Industries Sdn Bhd and City Top Industries

Sdn Bhd.

RASHID (4.2.12)

Seminar on Procurement System: Public Private

Partnership by Prof. Sr. Dr. Khairuddin Abdul Rashid was

held on 4 February 2012.

LYSAGHT LECTURE SERIES 2012 – ENVIRONMENTAL

ARCHITECTURE (17.2.12)

Seminar on Environmental Architecture by Mr. Tone

Wheeler was held on 17 February 2012. The seminar

was sponsored by BlueScope Lysaght (Sabah) Sdn Bhd.

SEMINAR ON THE USAGE OF UPVC & HDPE PIPES

(19.3.12) 33 members attended the one day seminar by Timplas

Sdn Bhd held at the Hyatt Hotel.

Mr. Andrew Wedgner and Mr. Alexander Krah from

Germany and Singapore respectively presented the

seminar on the design and installation for the usage of

HDPE pipes for water distribution and HDPE corrugated

pipe for sewerage system and culvert.

TECHNICAL VISIT TO COLOURCOIL INDUSTRIES’ FACTORY

(23.2.12)

A technical visit to Colourcoil Industries’ factory was

made on 23rd February 2012 for architects, architectural

graduates and technical staffs of members’ firms.

Colourcoil Industries introduced their state-of-the-art

Infra-Red coil coating line and briefed on the various

ASTM-based tests conducted by their in-house Quality

Control laboratory.

LAM PART 3 MOCK EXAM BY CAEM SABAH

A mock Part 3 professional examination has been

conducted on the 17th March 2012, with the view to

give the graduates a real feel and experience

condition of the examination.

In the picture are candidates ready to begin with

much anticipation and calmly waiting for the questions

papers to be distributed.

DIALOGUE WITH PAM EDUCATION SUB-COMMITTEE

CHAIRMAN 33 architecture graduates and lecturers attended the

dialogue with Ar. Zulhemlee An, PAM Education Sub-

Committee Chairman held at PAM Sabah Secretariat

on Friday, 4th May 2012.

INTER PROFESSIONAL BODIES GAMES 2012 The MIA shall be the host for the games from May to

September 2012. 9 types of games are in the list i.e.

badminton, golf, football, Futsal, dart, bowling, table

tennis, basketball and pool. The chapter was

delegated to organize the dart and pool game.
