iTunes Accounts

• Everything on an iDevice is tied to an iTunes account.

• All purchases are permanently tied to the account.• Don’t put personal credit card in account.• Gift cards – Any gift card purchases remain with

the iTunes account. Thank you for your donation.

iPad AccountsAttaching to your district iPad Account• Click the email icon on the

bottom bar of the iPad.• Choose Exchange• Enter your email

settings• District iPad

Account email• Domain – cusd95• Network Password

• After Verification finishes. Click next.

• Click Save to have all the displayed options loaded on iPad.

Account Settings

Adjusting your Account settings will help you with the following:• Space – Space may become an issue. Only

store 1 week of mail on your iPad• Battery life – If an iPad is constantly looking for

new mail and alerting you to it, it will use battery faster.

Email Settings Options

To adjust mail settings:1. Open ‘Settings’ app on

your iPad

2. Choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars (right side)• Choose mail account • Select Mail Days to

Sync – Recommend 1 week

• Select Done.

1. Fetch New Data1. Push – Turn Off2. Fetch – Set to Manual.

Mail will only be retrieved when you click on the mail app.

iCloud

iCloud is a service provided by Apple. iCloud allows you to:

• backup your data• have access to Pages documents from cloud• use find my ipad gps tracking

iCloud Setup• Select Settings• Select iCloud• Log in with your iTunes account

email/password.• Mail/contacts/calendars/

reminders/notes – will be off• Recommended settings to be

turned on:• Bookmarks• Documents & Data• Find My iPad

iCloud Setup• Select Storage & Backup

• iCloud gives you 5 gig of storage for free• Music/videos/apps/books

purchase from apple don’t count against that storage amount.

• From this window, you can view storage totals and manage storage see what apps are taking up the most space.

• Under iCloud Backup, Select the button to turn it on.• The iPad will warn you if it

hasn’t been able to back it up recently.

• Select Backup now to issue a backup right away.

Apps

2 ways to get apps:1. Free apps are downloaded through the App store.

• List of free apps for school use (handout)2. Paid Apps are purchased by the district and are

downloaded through Absolute.

Apps - Absolute

Absolute is our management tool for the iDevices. It is used for:

• Inventory, Application inventory, Warranty tracking

• GPS Tracking • Send Apps purchased by the District with an

educational discount to your device.• Sending messages to devices.• Application reporting.• Jailbreak reporting

Apps - Absolute

Downloading Paid Apps• Select Absolute App • Along the bottom menu bar, choose App Store• Select install next to the app.• First time will need to enter iTunes login and

password (school account)• After the first time, just need to enter password.

Security & Care

• Lock it up. Do not leave it unattended. • Do not share your locker.• Do not share your iPad.• If you take it to PE, make sure locker is locked.

• Should you have a question or issue about the iPad at any time, consult your teacher. She will direct you to Technology Support.

• iPads should not be exposed to extreme temperatures (hot or cold). So don’t leave in the car.

• Soft cloth to clean screen, no water or cleansers.• Warranty

• iPads covered by AppleCare+• Manufacturing hardware issues• 1st repair = $50.00/ 2nd repair = $75.00 • Jailbreaking requires replacement of device.• Tampering violates warranty• Tampering includes replacement of screens or opening

of devices.
