Calendar/Contacts

• These are NOT Apple specific apps.

• They can display data from iCloud, Google, Yahoo, Exchange, etc.

• Create a “team” calendar and contacts that every member of the “team” then accesses and updates.

Page 13: iPad: Productivity, Mobility, and You

MS Office Documents• Currently there is no app that is

a 100% replacement for Office.

• Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are Apples answer to Office.

• They DO NOT have feature parity with Office.

• They will read and write Office documents, BUT there are caveats.

Page 14: iPad: Productivity, Mobility, and You

MS Office Documents

• Cloud based, virtualized version of MS Office.

• Free, BUT for how long?

• MUST BE connected to the internet in order to use it.

• Ugly MS interface that has been “expanded” for touch use.

MS Office Documents• Rumored to be released in

November.

• “Microsoft ... has an internal effort to develop a version of Office for the iPad, though it is not clear when it plans to releases the software, several people with knowledge of the project have said. Microsoft will not confirm the effort.” www.nytimes.com/2012/07/17/technology/microsoft-

A Final Thought

“When we were an agrarian nation, all cars were trucks.

But as people moved more towards urban centers, people started to get into cars.

I think PCs are going to be like trucks. Less people will need them.

And this transformation is going to make some people uneasy…”
