The 2020 Northwest Iowa Beef Bonanza will beheld on Saturday, February 1st at Iowa LakesCommunity College in Emmetsburgbeginning at 9:45 am until 3:00 pm. This eventis open to all 4-H/FFA youth in 4th grade orolder. Participants will rotate between fourhands-on and interactive sessions. Cost is $5per participants. Contact our office to register.

Registration Deadline - Thursday, January 30
Desi Johnson of Desi's Desserts will lead thisworkshop. Participants will learn differentpiping techniques and many different optionsto decorate cupcakes. Each participants willget four cupcakes to decorate and take home.They also will receive their own piping set totake home to test their skills later on. Cost is$15 and the workshop will be at the AlgonaMiddle School Family & Consumer Scienceroom (Mrs. Louwagie's Room). Grades 4th andolder are welcome!

The Kossuth 4-H County Council is once again sponsoring the 4-H Lock-In at the Algona Family YMCA. Join usfor a night of dodgeball, racquetball, swimming, movies, games, pizza, pop and FUN! This event is open toALL youth in grades 4th - 12th grade! The cost is $20 for a non 4-H member and $15 for 4-H members. Bring aswimsuit, towel and were gym clothes. *We do need adult chaperones for the event! Please let us know if you would like to volunteer. We won't beable to hold the event if we don't have enough chaperones!

Qualifications are simple,students must be a dependent of a NEWCooperative member or full-time employee.They must be enrolling in an agriculturemajor at a four year university, or a two yearcollege with an agriculture short courseprogram. The online application process has been movedto 4HOnline.Applications for each opportunity (below) are ina fillable PDF format to facilitate a smootherprocess for writing, reviewing and revising priorto submission.One, one-page resume per youth is the onlysupplemental material requested in addition toyourapplication(s).Project area awards have a written andinterview process this year.Interviews for SESS Ambassador, National 4-HConference, State Project Awards, National 4-HCongress and State 4-H Council will be limitedto a predetermined maximum number (below)and those will be determined through thewritten application round. Interviews will nowbe 20 minutes long instead of 10.
State 4-H Recognition is the process in whichsenior 4-H members in grades 9-12 can apply to beselected for special statewide opportunities suchas awards and trips.Please note, we have updated many of theprocesses related to State Recognition Day. If youhave participated in the past, you will find that thefollowing changes have been made and may behelpful to know about in advance of applying.
