For Immediate Release: Iowa Poultry Association Announces Recipient of Life Member Award Urbandale, IA, August 22, 2018Iowa Poultry Association has announced the recipient of their Life Member Award, ahead of the annual Fall Festival. Mary Halsted of Hoover’s Hatchery will be awarded the honor at the banquet of the 48 th Annual Fall Festival, September 19 , 2018, at the Marriott in West Des Moines. Mary Halsted of Rudd, Iowa, is the “head hen” (consultant) at Hoover’s Hatchery started in 1974 as a worker. She rose through the ranks to manager, part-owner, sole-owner (with her late husband Doug), and now consultant. She has 5 children, Lisa, Anthony, Gina, Nikki, and Sarah. Mary was nominated by Luke Weiss of Hoover’s Hatchery and Steve Weiss, President of NutriQuest. In his nomination letter, Luke Weiss stated, “Mary is the hardest worker you will ever meet. Mary’s character is impeccable. Honesty, humility, integrity, goodness, generosity, loyalty, and friendly are just a few of the adjectives routinely used to describe her. Mary Halsted has been an absolute servant to Hoover’s Hatchery, the community of Rudd, and the poultry industry for 44 years.” Steve Weiss writes, “Mary Halsted has been a life-long servant. To her family, to her employees and customers at Hoover’s Hatchery, and even to competitors of Hoover’s Hatchery in the marketplace. Always in the spirit of taking care of others and advancing the poultry industry. I cannot think of another person who exemplifies all of the positive leadership traits for a leader in any industry, and in particular the poultry industry. Iowa Poultry Association Announces Recipient of Life Member Award Urbandale, IA, August 22, 2018— Iowa Poultry Association has announced the recipient of their Life Member Award, ahead of the annual Fall Festival. Mary Halsted of Hoover’s Hatchery will be awarded the honor at the banquet of the 48th Annual Fall Festival, September 19, 2018, at the Marriott in West Des Moines.
