IOWA FREIGHT FACILITIES DATABASE The Iowa Department of Transportation has been updating and expanding the State’s freight facilities databases by utilizing purchased data sets, researching locations, and completing public outreach. Below are the current facilities that are part of the intermodal container facility, transload facility, distribution center, public warehouse, and barge terminal databases.

The freight facilities database also includes grain elevators, ethanol plants, biodiesel plants, and coal-burning facilities, all of which are inventoried in online lists. These are not included in this document.

Intermodal container facilities There is only one intermodal container-on-flat car/trailer-on-flat car facility in the state located in Council Bluffs.
