Ionising Radiation

Outcomes

• Must be able to distinguish between ionising and non ionising radiation and name 2 of each type of radiation.

• Should be able to discuss on use for each of the ionising radiations.

• Could discuss some of the dangers of ionising radiation.

What you need to do

1. Produce a table showing the different types of both ionising and non-ionising radiation.

2. Make a poster to show the different uses of ionising and non-ionising radiation.

3. Design an information leaflet for hospital workers showing the possible harmful effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation.

How to do this

• Look at the ‘Radiation Poster’, use the information on this to complete task 1. (you are not allowed to copy any images or text from this presentation to do this.) (~1/2 period).

• Look at the Powerpoint ‘Uses of Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation’, use the information in this to produce your poster for task 2. (you are not allowed to copy any images or text from this presentation to do this.) (~1 ½ period).

• Look at the Powerpoint ‘Negative Effects of Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation’, use the information in this to produce your leaflet for task 3. (you are not allowed to copy any images or text from this presentation to do this.) (~2 periods).
