System requirements for PowerLogic™ ION Enterprise™ 6.0 This information is meant as a guide only; please consult your local Schneider Electric representative for complete system requirements and commissioning information for PowerLogic™ ION Enterprise™ ION Enterprise is fully scalable, so allow for expansion and consider data storage requirements. Primary server - The Primary Server computer should be Windows Server 2003 or 2008 certified, as per the hardware compatibility list on the Microsoft website. Windows XP Professional SP3 or Windows Vista may be used for standalone Primary Server applications using 1-25 networked devices, and no ION Enterprise client computers. Server must have a CD-ROM drive, Ethernet communications port and other standard hardware. Number of Devices*

Software requirements - Windows components and services should be installed and enabled before installing PowerLogic ION Enterprise. Use Windows Update service to install the latest Microsoft patches and fixes.
Software or Windows Component Required ION Enterprise Usage
Dot Net Framework version 2.0 Required by ION Enterprise Installer, this component is automatically installed if it is missing
Microsoft Windows IIS (Internet Information Services)
Prerequisite for Web Reporter & WebReach component installation (to enable WebReach clients to view Vista screens on a web browser)
Microsoft Windows 2003 or 2008 Terminal Services
Terminal server client connections (Remote Desktop connections) to the Primary Server
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
WebReach displays Vista screens and WebReporter provides historical data through a web browser
Database server – PowerLogic ION Enterprise can install SQL Server 2005 Express on the Primary Server and automatically set up the databases on that computer. Note: SQL Server 2005 Express has database size limitations. Databases over 4 GB require SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on the Primary Server, or on a separate server optimised for disk capacity and performance. SQL Server 2000 and MSDE are not supported. (Note: SQL Server 2000 and MSDE are not MS Windows Vista compatible).
Installing PowerLogic ION Enterprise on a virtual machine PowerLogic ION Enterprise is supported on VMware ESX Server 2 or 3. The virtual machine, not the host system, must meet the minimum requirements listed above. Your physical machine requirements depend on the specific installation and number of other virtual machines you intend to run in the host environment.
