Section 1-2Introduction
1-2-1 OverviewThe Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive is an external desktop hard drive, connected via aUSB/eSATA port to the USB port on either a Vivid i/q or a Vivid S5/S6 workstation. It is configured as RAID 1, so the content is mirrored on two hard disk drives.
When using the Vivid i/q system, patient safety considerations require that the Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive be connected to the system using the SafeLock cart. The installation must be placed outside the Patient Vicinity/Patient Environment (see below).
The intended use for Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive is for Disk Management.
NOTE: When Disk Management has been performed, it is recommended to back up the Patient Archive to a medical grade DVD recordable disc.
NOTE: Only connect one USB storage device (like this Iomega UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive) to the Vivid i/q or a Vivid S5/S6 system at a time.
WARNINGWARNING If the Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive is connected to a Vivid i/q or a Vivid S5/S6, ensure that it is placed outside the Patient Vicinity/Patient Environment, see: Section 1-3 "Environmental Dangers" on page 1-3 for details.

Section 1-3Environmental Dangers
Commercial devices such as laser cameras, printers, VCRs and external monitors, usually exceed allowable leakage current limits and, when plugged into separate AC outlets, are in violation of patient safety standards. Suitable electrical isolation of such external AC outlets, or providing the device with extra protective earth, will be required in order to meet UL60601-1 and IEC60601-1-1 standards for electrical leakage.
1-3-1 Patient Vicinity UL60601-12.12.20 DV - D2 Addition
An area in which patients are normally cared for, the patient vicinity is the space with surfaces likely to be in contact with the patient or attendant who can touch the patient. This encloses a space within the room of 1.83 m (6 ft.) beyond the perimeter of the bed (examination table, dental chair, treatment booth, and the like) in its intended location, and extending vertically 2.29 m (7.5 ft.) above the floor.
WARNINGWARNING ALL DEVICES MEETING IEC60950 MUST BE KEPT OUTSIDE OF THE PATIENT ENVIRONMENT, AS DEFINED IN IEC60601-1-1, UNLESS IT, ACCORDING TO IEC60601-1-1, IS EQUIPPED WITH:A) ADDITIONAL PROTECTIVE EARTHOR B) EXTRA ISOLATING TRANSFORMER

1 - 4 Section 1-3 - Environmental Dangers
1-3-2 Patient Environment IEC60601-1-1Sub clause 2.204
The patient environment is an area in which medical diagnosis, monitoring or treatment is carried out. It is difficult to estimate precise dimensions for the patient environment.
In practice, a distance of 2,5 m (8.2 ft.) above the floor on which the medical personnel stand and a horizontal distance of 1,5 m (4.9 ft.) have justified themselves as indicative of the dimensions of the Patient Environment.
The patient environment is depicted as a dashed line in this procedure. See Figure 1-1 on page 1-4 below.

1-4-2 Volume ConfigurationThe Iomega UltraMax Hard Drive is configured as a mirrored volume (RAID 1). This ensures optimal data integrity and immediate access to the data, even if one disk fails.
Verify that both MODE switches are set to ON as illustrated in Figure 1-4 "RAID 1 setup" on page 1-6.
NOTE: The RAID 1 capacity is half the physical capacity of the two drives.

1-4-5 Security cableInstall the security cable (included with unit) to prevent theft.
1-4-6 Change volume nameImportant The Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive must have a unique volume name. The site should choose a naming convention to use for marking this Hard Drive and any future hard drives, in case more than one drive is needed in the future.
NOTE: Only connect one USB storage device (like this Iomega UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive) to the Vivid i/q or Vivid S5/S6 at a time.
Follow these steps to set the Volume name:
1.) Connect the USB cable from the Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive to the scanner.2.) Switch on the Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drive.3.) Verify that the drive appear for selection as described in
Section 4-1 "Disk Management" on page 4-1.4.) From the console, press CONFIG and click CONNECTIVITY.5.) Click the Tools tab and from the Media scrolldown list, select USB Hard Disk.6.) In the Label field, type a unique volume name, click FORMAT and click OK.7.) After a warning notice displays, click OK.
The system processes the information. 8.) At the end of the process, verify that the unique volume name you assigned appears in the Label
field.
