Important Voter Information Top-Two Open Primary Under the Top-Two Candidates Open Primary Act, approved by the voters in 2010, only the two candidates who received the top number of votes in the primary election for 8th Congressional, 8th State Senate, 26th State Assembly districts and all state constitutional offices will appear on the General Election Ballot. Candidates for these offices may have the same political party preference. Additionally, write-in candidates are no longer allowed for these contests at the General Election. For more information you may contact the Inyo County Elections Department at (760) 878-0224. The political party preference of candidates will show on the ballot in the following ways:

Candidate has a political party preference: “Party Preference: (name of party)”

Candidate is registered with no political party preference: “Party Preference: None”

Abbreviations will be used to designate political party preference if the full name cannot fit on the ballot.

Party Endorsements Proposition 14, also authorizes qualified political parties to endorse candidates for voter-nominated offices in the Sample Ballot booklet. The following lists of candidates are the official endorsements that were received by the deadline. The endorsements listed may be from a different political party than the candidate prefers. I received my Masters in Business Administrationfrom the University of Chicago in 1984, and spent nearly 20 yearsin a career in healthcare and hospital management. My husbandand I have three children; one is in high school and the other twoare recent BUHS graduates. I have valued education my entire life,and nothing is more important to me than the education of ourcommunity’s children. As our nation’s changing economy hasdemonstrated, without a strong education our children’s futures arelimited. I have served on the BUSD Board since 2006 and understand thechallenges and opportunities facing our schools. As a trustee, I keeplearning and achievement for all students as my primary focus. We havefour young children, including a third grader, and a kindergartenerat Bishop Union Elementary School. A mentor once told me “Graduate from veterinary school, then learnhow to be a veterinarian.” I believe this wise statement has a broaderapplication to education in general. The role of a school is to equipan individual with foundational tools necessary to pursue their chosenpath. The onus is then on the individual to use these tools to completetheir journey. As a passionate lifelong learner who is still applyingthe tools I’ve acquired through extensive schooling, I believe I bringunique perspective and appreciation for quality education. It wouldbe a distinct privilege to serve on the BUSD Board and ensure thatBishop students leave fully equipped with tools for the journey.
