Mosquitoes: can be a real nuisance, especially atnight. Biting insects (including mosquitoes) arecommon in many countries, and they can spreaddisease. Insect repellents, especially thosecontaining DEET, can be useful in helping to preventbites. Your safetyCare in the airThis information forms part of our continuouscommitment to customer welfare to provide you withthe information you may need to ensure that yourflight is as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible.Your JourneyWe want to ensure your flight is as enjoyable andcomfortable as possible.The NHS has produced a ‘Travel Health’ guide to airtravel which can be found on their website atwww.nhs.ukThis provides guidance on flying with differentmedical conditions. You will find helpful advice onhow to prepare for the cabin air pressure andpreventing dehydration. Here you will also findadvice about Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), includingmeasures that can be taken to prevent blood clots,such as wearing loose, baggy clothing and elasticcompression stockings during your flight, also,drinking plenty of water and doing simple exercises,regularly from your seat.Medication should always be carried in your handluggage.Drink plenty of water during the flight to avoiddehydration.Mobile telephones or any other device that transmitsdata must remain switched-off for the duration of theflight. This applies even if the device has a specific‘flight mode’ or ‘flight safe’ setting.Fitness to FlyMost people with existing medical conditions are ableto fly on a commercial aircraft without difficulty. Weonly request medical clearance when fitness to fly isin doubt, maybe as a result of recent illness, injury orhospitalisation, surgery, instability or where specialservices may be required.In-flight safetyAlthough we want you to start and end your holidayon a high note, please make sure that you keep anydrinking to a minimum before the departure of yourflight. We will deny boarding to any passenger whoappears to be intoxicated or whose behaviour weconsider to be disruptive. While we wish to create agenuine holiday mood, we will deny boarding orimpose additional conditions of carriage on anypassenger who is:• intoxicated and/or disruptive• found to be smoking on board our aircraft

• abusive to any Thomas Cook Airlines staff orrepresentative on either the ground or in-flight• makes an inappropriate remark. Inappropriateremarks are considered as any comment orstatement made by a person, which indicates thatthey may be carrying a bomb (or other explosivedevice), a firearm or weapon regardless of thatperson's intent or reason for making the comment orstatement.Passengers who are refused travel due to theirbehaviour will be responsible for arranging alternativetransportation at their own expense.

Money & Personal BelongingsWhere available, place all valuables in a safetydeposit box. Avoid carrying too much money orwearing excess jewellery when you are out andabout. Keep all valuables close to you at all times.Ensure wallets and purses are not easily accessible.Ensure your room is left secure when going out.

Accommodation safetyYour Holiday AccommodationNever leave your key where someone can note yourroom number.Do not leave your window open, especially if yourroom is on the ground floor or has a balcony.Remember to lock your room door, even when youare inside the room.BalconyChildren should NEVER be left unsupervised onbalconies. Do not climb or stand on balcony furniture.Keep all furniture away from the balcony wall/railings.Never lean over, sit or climb on balconywalls/railings.BathroomTake care in bathrooms as condensation and waterspray can make surfaces slippery and bath or floormats may not be provided. Do not use mainselectrical appliances near to water.

CookingNever leave cookers unattended whilst in use.Ensure all cooking appliances are switched off whenleaving your apartment or when retiring for the night.Never leave shopping or other items on the cooker.

On arrival at your accommodationFamiliarise yourself with all escape routes and locatethe nearest fire exit to your room. Walk the nearestescape route from your room. Study the fireinstruction notice displayed in your room. Identify themethod of raising the alarm on discovering a fire.Ensure that all smoking materials are safelyextinguished and do not smoke in bed.If a fire occursEvacuate the room/area immediately - do not stop tocollect personal belongings.Close any doors behind you.Raise the alarm.Proceed to an assembly point outside and well clearof the building.If you cannot leave your room, close all doors, putwet towels or clothes around the door seals andshout for help from the window or telephonereception.Glass windows and doorsBe aware that glass doors and windows may notnecessarily be equipped with toughened glass.Caution should be taken at all times. Take extra carein bright sunlight as it may not be obvious whetherthe window/door is opened or closed.

Gas appliancesFamiliarise yourself with how the appliances work, ifyou are unsure please ask for assistance. If yousmell gas within your accommodation:• extinguish all naked flames and do not usematches or lighters.• do not switch lights or any other electricalappliance on or off.• if possible isolate the gas supply (i.e. turn off thesupply using the tap on the bottle).• open all doors and windows.• inform reception, the agent, owner.• leave the building and allow time for the gas todisperse.

Never attempt to locate a gas leak yourself or tamperwith the gas supply. If you spot any defects orhazards in your property during the holiday pleaseensure that your bring them to your representative'sor agent's attention.LiftsChildren should not use any lift unaccompanied. Notall lifts have internal doors. When using this type oflift stand well back from the exposed wall as there isno protection from the lift shaft when the car is inmotion.IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE USE THE STAIRCASESNOT THE LIFT.

Your well being / personal safetyRememberBefore undertaking any activity whilst on holiday,please ensure that you are adequately covered bythe terms and conditions of your insurance company.We act as agents on excursions and activities withindependent suppliers and we endeavour to promoteappropriate safety standards. If you choose toorganise independent excursions, please check thatthe operator's insurance and the safety standardsprovided are satisfactory.Food and drink is an integral part of the holidayexperience however everything in moderation is thekey, particularly at the beginning of your holidaywhen the local cuisine may be unfamiliar to you.

DrinksIt is advisable to always drink bottled water and touse it for brushing your teeth. Ensure that the seal ofthe bottle is intact. Where appropriate avoid ice indrinks. Never accept drinks from strangers or fromanyone you do not completely trust. Do not share orexchange drinks, Try to keep your drink with you atall times. Nominate someone to watch your drinks,especially if you are leaving the group you are with togo to the toilet. Be aware of how much you have hadto drink and remember alcohol will dehydrate you.DrugsWe advise you to have nothing to do with drugs.Possession of even small amounts for personal usemay result in severe penalties, including the deathsentence in some countries.FoodWhilst hotels will try and cater for a range ofinternational guests, food in hotels is always going tobe influenced by the local culture. This is all part ofthe holiday experience and provides you with theperfect opportunity to experience the local cuisine.Wash your hands before eating and after going to thetoilet.
