Invitation and Call for Papers

Dear colleagues and participants,

We are proud to announce the 18th SGS Annual Meeting 2018 taking place for the first time at CHUV, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, in Lausanne. On behalf of the organizing and executive com-mittee of the Swiss Society of Spine Surgery we would like to invite you to attend our Annual Meeting in Lausanne on Friday, August 24th, 2018. On the evening before, we would warmly welcome you to a networking dinner in the art museum La Fondation de l`Hermitage.

The main topic of the congress will focus on future technologies and options in spinal surgery. Distin-guished speakers are giving lectures about the pros and cons of robotic spine surgery, simulator-trai-ning, navigation, virtual and augmented realities, MIS in adult deformities und advances in paraplegia research.

Please feel encouraged to participate actively and to discuss your own experiences and points of view in a friendly interdisciplinary atmosphere.

The members meeting is fixed before lunch. In the afternoon, we would like to invite and encourage especially our young and dynamic colleagues to present their current research in a free communicati-on session which has been evaluated as very successful and worthwile during the past years.

Exchange and Networking on Thursday August 23, 2018In order to be able to enjoy the French-speaking part of Switzerland, our networking dinner will take place on Thursday, August 23rd at 8 pm. The dinner will take place at the restaurant “L’esquisse” loca-ted at the “Park L‘Hermitage“ close to the CHUV. We will start with an aperitif which will be followed by a 3-course menu dinner as described below.

Starter: Andalusian gazpacho, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and basilMain course: Beef fillet, chimichurri sauce with summer vegetable blasted and pan-fried applesDessert: Small melba strawberry pot with pistachio nut

The networking dinner costs are CHF 100.--.

Before the dinner, from 6.30 pm to 8 pm, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a private guided tour at the art museum “La Fondation de l‘ Hermitage” which is located right next to the restaurant. A large exhibition of Henri Manguin (1874-1949) is currently displayed.

Should you need an accommodation for the night of 23 – 24 August, we will be glad to book it for you in a walking distance from/to the CHUV at the “Hôtel des Patients”. Please be informed that we will only make the reservation and you are responsible to cover the costs.

Abstract submission

Please participate actively in the program and submit the results of your current work of research as abstract. Abstract submission is possible for unpublished clinical and basic research work in the field of spinal surgery.

Abstract submission: open 2nd April 2018 and closes on 13th May 2018

The abstract must be written in English and be submitted as a Word file (x.doc, x.docx). The structure should look like following: Introduction, Purpose/Aim, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion. Please limit your abstract to 1800 characters in total.

Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by the program committee. Acceptance for presentation will be communicated by email to the corresponding author until June 30th, 2018.

Congress Languages Official languages at the congress are German, French, Italian and English. Slides must be in English.
