INVITATION FOR EVENT APPLICATIONS Thank you for considering participation in the Scenic Rim’s premier local food event Scenic Rim Eat Local Week. Eat Local Week celebrates the food, farmers and natural beauty of the Scenic Rim through a program of festivals, farm gate events and culinary experiences. The event was launched in 2011 and has grown in size and scale each year with Eat Local Week 2019 seeing more than 38,000 visitors attend more than ninety (90) events held right across the Scenic Rim region. Scenic Rim Regional Council takes a region-wide approach to activities in the food and tourism sectors. Agriculture has always been at the heart of the region and farmers are the foundation of the local heritage and social networks. Together with tourism they influence the region via almost 1500 individual businesses that inject over $400m annually into the local economy. Eat Local Week asks visitors and Scenic Rim locals to consider their food choices and to recognise the vast array of products available on their doorstep. It also provides insight into how our local fresh food is produced, distributed and consumed. There are many ways in which local businesses and groups can participate. Past Eat Local Week programs have featured a wide variety of events from fine dining experiences to free and low-cost activities for kids, locals and visitors including: farm tours, cooking classes, producer dinners, wine tastings, bush-tucker experiences, food festivals and much more! Past participating businesses and groups have reported significant increases in visitation and sales both during Eat Local Week and after the event. In 2019 Eat Local Week injected more than $1.9 million in direct spending by visitors across the region. The value of media coverage generated last year was calculated at $1,342,900 with a reach of over 151 million people! ELIGIBILITY Every legally operating business or group located within the Scenic Rim Local Government boundary is eligible to apply to participate. All events must display quality with a capacity to deliver! They must also display a strong connection to local food and/or food production, wine and brewed products. Events that have been created specifically with Eat Local Week in mind or can demonstrate a strong connection to local food, wine and brewed products will receive preference. Eat Local Week is aimed at adults and children and we hope once again to provide a varied program to suit all age groups right across Scenic Rim Eat Local Week. All applications will be assessed for suitability and you will be notified accordingly after the closing date for submission of applications. PROMOTION Scenic Rim Regional Council will carry out promotion of Scenic Rim Eat Local Week in a variety of ways including extensive media promotion, media events, production and provision of an event program, flyers, posters and signage for participating businesses and groups.
