It is a great honour for us to bid you welcome to the IBU Youth and Junior World Championships of 2010.

Torsby is a well known Swedish cross country/biathlon ski centre and many of Swedens´ best skiers and biathlon athletes have strong connections to Torsby.

We are very pleased, and impressed, with the way our volunteers, sponsors and neighbouring municipalities have sided with us in order to make this event possible.

We sincerely hope that your stay in Torsby will be pleasant and that you can fulfil your expectations and goals. It is our hope that this event will be characterized by good sportsmanship and fair conditions.

Torsby – hosting municipality of the World Youth & Junior Championships 2010Torsby Municipality has a population of approx. 12 700 and covers an area of 4 187 km2 in mid-Sweden, on the border to Norway. The municipality has a long tradition in winter sports, particularly cross country skiing and biathlon. Several junior world-champions have been raised and trained in the region. SK Bore/Bore Biathlon, being a part of the championship organization, has ca 100 active athletes in all age-groups, from youth to seniors.

With the assistance of 300 volunteer stewards, we hope to make this championship a thoroughly positive experience for all participants. Not just competition-wise but also for making your visit in Torsby, as our guests, a life-long memory from the World Youth & Junior Championships of 2010.

Torsby Biathlon Stadium ValbergetThe stadium has 30 Kurvinen targets, roofed and lighted. The snow on the tracks is a combination of natural and artificial snow. The tracks are well lit and are open until 9 PM. There are 30 waxing-cabinsand a ski-testing area just 50 meters from the tracks. Next to the stadium you find Fortum Ski Tunnel Torsby, with an indoor biathlon shooting range.

Generell information

Reporting upon arrivialBefore moving to the accomodation all teams must report to the competition office/accreditation office at the biathlon stadion.

AccreditationAll team members (active competitors, leaders, trainers, service staff) and IBU- representatives must be accredited. Accreditation is carried out in the premises of the Ski Tunnel, next to the Biathlon Stadium.

The teams can acquire official number-bibs for training at the time of accreditation.These must be carried by all active competitors during all training. Number-bibs for competition will be handed out at the team-leader meets.

Waxing cabinsThere are 30 waxing cabins available at the stadium, next to the ski-testing area and competition tracks. The cabins will be distributed among the competing nations, by the Organizing Committee.A deposition-fee of 50 euro will be required in order to obtain key(s). The deposition will be refunded upon returning the key(s). If the key(s) is lost no refund will be possible.

Teams arriving before Jan 23 may contact the Organizing Committee concerning all matters of accessibility to stadium facilities.


Liability/InsuranceAll participants must have signed a sufficient accident, illness and liability insurance. By submitting the entry by names the National Federations confirms that all persons entered are covered by such insurance (in accordance with 1.5.2.b, IBU Event and Competition Rules).

Visa regulationsTo obtain a Visa please contact the Swedish Embassy of your own country. If you need assistance to obtaining your Visa, please contact the Organizing Committee, no later than December 20 2009.

Import and export of rifles and ammunitionTo be able to import weapons and ammunition into Sweden each nation has to be able to show valid import permission. If the nation is a member of the EU, the weapon owner or team captain also have to show a valid EU Weapon Passport.

For the import of weapons and ammunition please fill out the form “Team Application Form for Weapon and Ammunition” (you find the form at the end of this invitation) and send it to the Organizer, no later than December 20, 2009. The application shall include the following data: Name of owner of weapon, his/her birthday, type of weapon, fabrication, serial number, calibre, ammunition amount and validity of permission. The costs for the import permissons are 65 Euro/nation. The payment can be carried out at the Competition Office.

Permission to import weapons are examined by the local police authority at the venue where the import/custom declaration is going to take place. It is the responsibility of each nation to get their own valid permission issued (EU-weapon licence). While staying in Sweden the weapons must be kept under constant surveillance or locked in at a secured place, according to Swedish law.
