Dear applicant
We have received your request for an Investec bursary administered by Study Trust for 2011 and have pleasure enclosing an application form.
When completing the form, please take note of the following:
• Read the instructions carefully before filling in any information
• Return the application form to Study Trust before 30 September 2010. This will ensure that you are able to send us your latest June
examination results which must be returned with the application form (see 1.1 below)
• Send the form, together with the required documents, to Study Trust, PO Box 29192, Melville, 2109
• You must be a South African citizen in order to apply

Documents that accompany the application form must be certified:

1.2 A copy of your May/June 2010 exam or an appropriate progress report if no examination was written. If you are not studying this year,
send a copy of your latest exam results, together with an explanation of what you are doing this year. This is essential as the exam
results play an important role in the selection process.
1.3 Matric/NSC results: If you have already completed matric/NSC, include your results, together with your latest tertiary (June 2010)
results. This is compulsory for all tertiary students.
1.4 Two testimonials: One testimonial from a senior educational official like your principal or lecturer and the other by a community, political
or spiritual leader. Use the testimonial forms included (sections 5 and 6) or attach suitable testimonials.
1.5 Write an essay on your life on the page included (section 7). Use additional pages if necessary. This must be written by you. Your
parent, guardian or friend may write a letter of recommendation.

2. Selection criteria for selected educational institutions
2.1 The main criteria for the selection of applications are financial need and academic potential.
2.2 Bursary applications are invited from young people who aim to study full time towards an undergraduate university (academic) degree
in Commerce (Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance), Business Science, Science and Mathematics,
Engineering and IT or a commercial LLB. Applicants in Grade 12 should have pass marks of at least 50% in all their subjects with
a minimum of 60% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 60% in English. Applicants who wrote Matric (Grade 12) prior to 2008
have to have a minimum of 60% in both Maths (HG) and English (HG).
Please apply timeously for admission to the educational institution of your choice.
2.3 Important - Clearly specify the exact degree programme for which you need a bursary, the name of the educational institution where
you plan to study and the year of study when completing the application form.
2.4 Bursaries will only be offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of University.
2.5 If you change your degree programme after submitting your application form, this may lead to a cancellation of the bursary.
2.6 No bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions.
3. Bursary amounts
The bursary amounts are reviewed and are subject to change every year. To give you an idea, for the 2010 academic year:
3.1 Investec offered a partial bursary of R50 000 towards study related expenses.
3.2 Successful candidates could apply through the Financial Aid Office of their university of choice or through Study Trust for a study loan
from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). The maximum amount awarded for 2010 was R47,000 to cover the shortfall.
Terms and conditions apply.
4. Completed application forms: acknowledgement of receipt
Study Trust (Investec’s bursary administrator) receives thousands of application forms each year and it is therefore not possible for us to
acknowledge receipt of all completed forms. All applications will be considered and selection will take place from September to December
2010. All applicants will be notified of the outcome not later than 15 December 2010.
Please ensure that your applications are submitted timeously to The National Director, Study Trust, PO Box 29192, Melville,
